UNIFORMS, TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT. 23.1 Uniforms The Employer may require employees to wear uniforms. Where required, the Employer will determine and provide the uniform or an equivalent clothing allowance. The Employer will follow their policy regarding the provision and maintenance of required uniforms, specialized clothing and footwear. The cost of normal wear and tear and loss of required uniforms, specialized clothing and footwear due to workplace conditions is the responsibility of the Employer.

UNIFORMS, TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT. Should the University require bargaining unit members to wear uniforms, the University shall bear the cost of such uniforms. Uniforms shall remain the property of the University and must be returned to the University upon separation of employment or to receive replacements. If provided, uniforms must be worn by employees while at work. Employees shall be provided a maximum of five (5) full sets of uniforms upon appointment and up to five (5) full replacements per fiscal year as needed thereafter. If flame resistant (FR) rated uniforms are issued they must be worn only at work and will be laundered and mended by the University. The University will provide employees with a private changing location, a designated area for the drop off and pickup of laundering and mending requests and a locker for non-work clothing of bargaining unit employees required to wear FR rated uniforms. Other required safety clothing, equipment, and/or devices shall also be provided by the University at no cost to the bargaining unit member and must be worn and/or utilized by the bargaining unit member in accordance with applicable University policy and/or Occupational Safety and Health Act rules and regulations. Bargaining unit members whose primary work duties are performed outdoors shall be issued apparel sufficient to reasonably protect them from the elements. The University also agrees to furnish and maintain in safe working condition all tools and equipment used by the bargaining unit members.

When uniforms are required, the Employer will not reduce the uniform allowance or level of maintenance provided, during the term of this Agreement. The same will apply to required footwear. The Employer may require an employee to return all provided uniforms and/or footwear upon separation from employment. In those cases where an employee fails to return the provided uniforms and/or footwear, the Employer may deduct the depreciated value of the items from the employee’s final pay.

Where required, the Agency will determine and provide uniform components. The Agency will seek to provide uniforms manufactured of materials appropriate for the work being performed. Employees will be required to return all provided uniforms upon separation from employment. The Agency will establish a committee, to include the Association, to modify the current uniform policy. This committee will continue to work on ensuring there are sufficient options for employee purchase of uniforms, tools and equipment which are appropriate for the work performed.

UNIFORMS, TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT. 8.1 – Uniforms Employees who are required to wear a uniform specified by the Employer, with the exception of Capital Transit bus drivers, shall be provided with the uniforms, their cleaning, maintenance and replacement, by the Employer. If the employee is provided with a uniform, the uniform must be returned when the employee leaves the position. New Capital Transit bus drivers shall be provided with five (5) summer and five (5) winter shirts, and one jacket, vest and raincoat. At shift bid time, (twice per year), all drivers can present worn or damaged uniforms to be replaced. All apparel shall be worn in accordance with the Capital Transit Instructions for Operators. Capital Transit bus drivers shall maintain and clean their own uniforms. As compensation for doing so, they shall receive $275.00 per fiscal year, which amount shall be included in the paychecks issued the first full pay period in July. New employees shall receive a pro-rated amount based upon what month they were hired within the fiscal year, e.g., an employee hired in October shall receive 9/12 of the total cleaning allowance. This amount shall be included in the paycheck issued after the first full pay period of employment.

Where Employers require Employees to use or wear specific uniforms, protective clothing, tools, and/or equipment in the performance of their job duties, the terms and conditions by which such uniforms, protective clothing, tools, and/or equipment are provided shall be addressed in Employer supplemental bargaining
UNIFORMS, TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT. Section 1. Employer agrees to provide uniforms for the classification titles as specified below for the performance of job duties as the Employer deems necessary. The Employer and the Union will jointly select uniform choices. The Employer will make the final decision. The Employer will replace uniforms when necessary due to normal wear and tear. Any piece of the uniform that becomes damaged or unrepairable while performing official duties during scheduled working hours that makes the wearing of the uniform impractical, will be replaced at no cost to the Employee.
