Executive Leave The Employer shall authorize a leave of absence with pay for one (1) employee who is a member of the Association for a two-year period beginning four (4) weeks after written notice by the Association to the Bureau of Employee Relations and said employee’s agency. During such leave of absence with pay, the employee shall continue to receive and retain all of that employee’s wages, rights, benefits, and seniority as a state employee except that all leave accumulation shall be frozen for the duration of the leave of absence. Upon returning from the leave of absence, the employee shall resume earning leave at the rates appropriate to that employee’s service at the time of return. The Employer agrees that there shall be no action taken with respect to the employee or the employee’s state position prior to or following that employee’s return from the leave of absence because of that employee’s legal union activities. The Association agrees to reimburse the Employer for the full cost of the wages and benefits for the employee, and to indemnify the Employer against any and all liabilities associated with the leave of absence, including but not limited to workers' compensation.
EMPLOYMENT POLICY AND UNION MEMBERSHIP 5.01 The Union and the Employer will cooperate in maintaining a desirable and competent labour force. The Employer will notify the Union of labour requirements, giving as much prior notice as possible. The Union will provide a list of labour available. The Employer, at its discretion, may hire the employees listed or from other sources.
Union Leave (a) Upon receiving a written request at least one (1) week in advance from the Union, the Company will grant leave of absence for not more than two (2) employees at any one time to attend Union conferences, conventions, or workshops, providing that the combined leaves of absence will not exceed forty (40) working days in any one (1) calendar year. Such leaves of absence will be without pay but with maintenance and accumulation of benefits (normal payroll deductions to apply).
Vacation Leave A part-time employee shall earn vacation leave credits for each month in which the employee receives pay for at least twice the number of hours in the employee’s normal workweek, at the rate for years of service established in clause 34.02 of this Agreement, prorated and calculated as follows:
Funeral/Bereavement Leave In the event of death in the immediate family of an employee, the employee will be granted leave of absence with pay, with consideration given to travel time for the purpose of attending the funeral. The length of such absence shall be at the discretion of the Employer. The term "
Education Leave (a) If required by the Employer, an employee shall be entitled to leave of absence with pay and without loss of seniority and benefits to write examinations to upgrade his or her employment qualifications.
Union Leaves Employees on Union Leaves will be treated as provided in Article 18 (Q) while working on Union leave.
Management Leave In lieu of overtime, executive management employees receive 100 hours of management leave during each full fiscal year of service to the City. Management leave must be used in the year it is earned and cannot be carried over to succeeding fiscal years. During the first pay period in July each year, management leave hours will be credited to the eligible employee's management leave account or other designated leave bank. The City will "cash out" one quarter (1/4) of the employee’s unused management leave balance remaining on the last day of the last full pay period in June of each year and convert it to reportable compensation by paying the employee his/her hourly, regular rate of pay in effect at the time of the cash out. A management employee newly hired into the organization shall not be eligible to receive management leave during the probation period. Managers appointed from within the organization are immediately eligible to receive management leave. Management leave credited to the leave account of a new employee completing probation and all other eligible management employees shall be prorated at the rate of 3.85 hours for each full pay period remaining in the current fiscal year. Conversely, a manager leaving the organization prior to the end of a fiscal year shall return back to the City 3.85 hours of management leave for each full pay period remaining at the time of separation in his/her final fiscal year of employment with the City. In the event that the employee, at the time of separation from the City, has a zero balance in his/her management leave bank a deduction for management leave time owed the City shall be made, in the following order: from the employee's accrued vacation leave bank; accrued sick leave bank; and/or as an equivalent hour-for-hour cash reimbursement to the City from the employee's final payroll disbursement.
Employment Relations Education Leave 26.1 The Employer shall grant leave on pay for employees party to this MECA to attend courses authorised by NZNO to facilitate the employee’s education and training as employee representatives in the workplace. FTE eligible employees as at 1 March each year Maximum number of days of employment relations education leave that we are entitled to allocate as a union 6 – 50 5 51 – 280 1 day for every 8 FTE eligible employees or part of that number 281 or more 35 days plus 5 days for every 100 FTE eligible employees or part of that number that exceeds 280
Parenting Leave Parenting Leave consists of Maternity Leave and Parental Leave. Parental Leave includes Paternity and Adoption Leave. An employee who qualifies for Maternity Leave may apply for such leave in accordance with Maternity Leave “Plan A” or Maternity Leave “Plan B” but not both.
