Union Executive Leave. Upon request of the Union, confirmed in writing, and provided that reasonable notice is given to Homes First Society, a leave of absence with no loss of pay and with no loss of credits may be granted to an employee elected as an Executive Board Member and/or Executive Officer of the Union, for the purpose of conducting the internal business affairs of the Union. Such a request will be made with respect to no more than one (1) employee at a time.

An employee called for jury duty shall suffer no loss in pay with respect to regularly scheduled working hours on days when the employee is required to serve jury duty provided that the employee furnishes the Association with a Certificate of Service signed by the Clerk of the Court showing the amount of any jury fee received and providing such fee is turned over to the Association.

Union Executive Leave a) When an employee is elected as the Union's Provincial President or First Vice-President, the Union shall, immediately following such election, advise the Employer of the name of the employee so elected. A leave of absence without pay shall be granted for the duration of the current term of office, such leave shall commence no less than thirty (30) days after the date of notification to the Employer of the request for the leave unless otherwise agreed by the parties. The parties shall meet as soon as possible after notification of the leave to discuss benefits implications. b) At the conclusion of the leave of absence, the employee shall be returned to their original position or where it has been eliminated will be permitted to exercise his/her rights under Article 49 (LAY OFF AND RECALL).

The purpose of the paid time is to assist with the scheduling of meetings with the Hospital. She or he will be paid at her or his regular straight time hourly rate for the tours.
Union Executive Leave. The union shall be granted a total of five hundred and thirty (530) hours per year with pay for union related business provided forty- eight (48) hours’ notice is given. Additional time off shall be granted without pay. All union business will be paid at straight time and will not be banked. Time spent for union official to attend disciplinary meetings shall be compensated by the Employer and shall not be considered part of the executive leave. After the annual allotment has been exhausted, the Employer shall only pay the operator covering the piece of work created by the approved leave. The Employer shall pay lost wages for the union’s negotiation team during direct contract negotiations. Any unused hours at the end of the calendar year shall be carried over to the next calendar year.

Union Executive Leave. At the request of the Union, provided three (3) weeks advanced written notice is provided to the Superintendent of Human Resources & Employee Relations, the Board shall grant up to two (2) additional member of the Executive of the Union, beyond the President, a leave of absence with pay for the duration of term of office, provided that the Union reimburses the Board for salary, statutory benefits (excluding extended health benefits) and LTD premium involved. Upon completion of the leave, the Employee shall be returned to their previous position. Regardless of the length of the leave, full seniority rights shall be granted.

  • EMPLOYMENT POLICY AND UNION MEMBERSHIP 5.01 The Union and the Employer will cooperate in maintaining a desirable and competent labour force. The Employer will notify the Union of manpower requirements giving as much prior notice as possible. The Union will provide a list of manpower available. The Employer at its discretion may hire employees so listed or from other sources. 5.02 The Employer has the right to hire new employees as needed, provided that no new employee(s) will be hired while there are available employees on layoff qualified to do the work. 5.03 New employees will be hired on a three (3) month probationary period, and thereafter shall attain regular employment status. Their respective seniority shall be dated back to the date of their last hiring by the Employer. 5.04 Probationary employees are covered by the Agreement, excepting those provisions which specifically exclude such employees. 5.05 The Employer and the Union will endeavour to make use of an apprenticeship program for employees hired in the Skilled Xxxxxxx Helper and Xxxxxxx Helper classifications. The parties recognize the Employer's legitimate concern to maintain control over the availability of manpower especially at peak work periods. 5.06 Neither the Employer nor the Union will compel employees to join the Union. The Employer will not discriminate against any employees because of Union membership or lack of it, and will inform all new employees of the contractual relationship between the Employer and the Union. Before commencing work, any new employee will be referred by the Employer to a xxxxxxx or Local 52 Representative in order to give such xxxxxxx or Local 52 Representative an opportunity to describe the Union's purposes and representation policies to such new employees.

  • Vacation and Leave a. The Executive shall be entitled to vacation and other leave in accordance with policy for senior executives, or otherwise as approved by the Board. b. In addition to paid vacation and other leave, the Executive shall be entitled, without loss of pay, to absent himself voluntarily from the performance of his employment for such additional periods of time and for such valid and legitimate reasons as the Board may in its discretion determine. Further, the Board may grant to the Executive a leave or leaves of absence, with or without pay, at such time or times and upon such terms and conditions as the Board in its discretion may determine.

  • Union Leave Leave of absence for Union business shall be given without pay up to a maximum of (as per the local provisions under L19) days per calendar year provided such leave does not interfere with the continuance of efficient operation of the Hospital. Such leave shall be subject to the following conditions: (a) not more than (as per the local provisions under L19) employees of the Hospital are absent on any such leave at the same time, and not more than (as per the local provisions under L19) employee from a department; (b) a request must be made in writing at least twenty-one days prior to the commencement of the function for which leave is requested, unless it is not reasonably possible to give such notice; (c) such request shall state the general nature of the function to be attended; (d) employees on a Union Leave which is approved by the Hospital in accordance with the above conditions shall be paid for such leave by the Hospital. The Hospital shall then forward a statement of such wages paid to the employee affected to the union for reimbursement of the amount stated; (e) an employee who is elected or appointed to office with the CAW, shall upon application by the Union in writing, be granted a leave of absence without loss of seniority and benefits for up to three (3) years. An extension shall be granted upon written application by the employee to the administration of the Hospital. During such leaves of absence, salary and benefits shall be kept whole by the Hospital and the Union agrees to reimburse the Hospital for such salary and the Hospital's contribution to said benefits. The employee agrees to notify the Hospital of the employee's intention to return to work within two (2) weeks following the termination of office for which the leave was granted. The union agrees to notify the Hospital five (5) months in advance of the Local Union election. The union further agrees that the requirement to meet under Article 14 will be waived. At the end of such leave, any employee hired or placed as a substitute for the employee on such absence, may be terminated or laid off by the Hospital as required, or may be transferred to the employee's previous position if the substitution was a transfer. An employee on leave of absence under this provision shall continue to accumulate all rights and privileges under this Agreement. It is understood that the intent of this article is that it shall normally apply to only one employee at a time per circumstance as noted above, and that the Union shall provide adequate notice prior to an employee commencing Union Leave of Absence. Further applications may be granted consistent with the Hospital’s staffing requirements. In addition, it is understood that any employee so elected or appointed is required to maintain their competence in the event that they are to return to the workplace.

  • Vacation Leave 11.1 Employees will retain and carry forward any eligible and unused vacation leave that was accrued prior to the effective date of this Agreement.

  • Vacations; Leave The Employee shall be entitled to annual paid vacation in accordance with the policies established by the Board of Directors for executive employees and to voluntary leave of absence, with or without pay, from time to time at such times and upon such conditions as the Board of Directors may determine in its discretion.

  • Education Leave If required by the Hospital, an employee shall be entitled to leave of absence with pay and without loss of seniority and benefits to write examinations to upgrade his or her employment qualifications. Where employees are required by the Hospital to take courses to upgrade or acquire new employment qualifications, the Hospital shall pay the full costs associated with the courses. Subject to operational requirements, the Hospital will make every reasonable effort to grant requests for necessary changes to an employee's schedule to enable attendance at a recognized up-grading course or seminar related to employment with the Hospital."
