Expiration of Sick Leave. If illness or disability continues beyond the time covered by earned sick leave, the employee may be granted a disability leave or a personal leave, at the discretion of the Employer.
Expiration of Sick Leave. Employees who have unused sick leave credits after the one hundred and eighty (180) day waiting period when the long term disability benefit becomes payable shall either exhaust all such sick leave credits before receiving the long term disability benefit, or bank the unused sick leave credits for future use. Employees who will be eligible for benefits under the Long Term Disability Plan shall not have their employment terminated. Following expiration of their sick leave credits, they shall be placed on unpaid leave of absence until receipt of long term disability benefits. Upon return to work following recovery, an employee who was on long term disability shall, where possible, return to his/her former job, exercising his/her seniority rights if necessary, pursuant to Article 13.02 D), of the Collective Agreement.

Expiration of Sick Leave. In the event the employee has used all accrued sick leave, the employee may request the use of accrued compensatory time or vacation/miscellaneous time, for each day of absence due to illness or injury.
Expiration of Sick Leave. A. If illness or disability continues beyond the time covered by earned sick leave, the employee may be granted a disability leave or a personal leave in accordance with the procedures identified in Articles 21 and 22 of this agreement.
B. An employee may petition fellow bargaining unit employees to donate sick leave in eight (8) hour increments. Such situations shall be limited to catastrophic illness and/or injury, and will only be allowable when the disabled employee has exhausted all available paid leaves. The total length of time that an employee may be eligible to use donated sick leave for any single catastrophic illness and/or injury arising out of the same set of facts (e.g., single auto accident) shall be limited to six (6) months in duration unless extended at the discretion of the Sheriff. The Employer shall not unreasonably deny an employee’s second request for donation. Any donation made by an employee in accordance with this section shall be on a voluntary basis, and the donating employee must have a minimum balance of eighty (80) hours of sick leave in order to donate time. Once a donating employee has designated the total amount of sick leave to be donated, the donation is irrevocable, but donated sick leave shall not be deducted from the donating employee until utilized by the ill/injured employee. The sick leave donation program shall be administered on a pay period to pay period basis, drawing from each donating employee on a rotating basis based upon the order in which the donating employees signed up, beginning initially with the first employee to sign up. Donations shall be deducted from a donating employee’s designated donation amount in eight (8) hour increments, drawing from each donating employee on a rotating basis. Donations of sick leave will not be considered actually donated and will not be deducted from the donating employee’s balance or credited to the disabled employee’s balance until the pay period such leave is actually used.

Expiration of Sick Leave. An employee absent because of illness, who has utilized all available sick leave, will be continued on the basis of a leave of absence without pay until she/he is able to return to work, but not to exceed sixty (60) days beyond the date when her/his sick leave was exhausted. Such an employee shall furnish to the human resources administrator a doctor's certificate attesting to the fact that the employee is able to return to work. An extension beyond the above sixty (60) days will be considered by the human resources administrator in the case of an employee who has been in continuous employment with the Board for a period of five (5) years or more. In such extensions of sick leave on the basis of leave without pay, the employee will be offered her/his original position. After one (1) year of extension beyond the date when the employee's sick leave was exhausted, the employee will be placed on the recall list for one (1) year only. As vacancies occur similar to the employee's former position, the employee on the recall list will be offered these positions. Failure to accept the position will result in removal from the recall list.
Expiration of Sick Leave. A. An employee who has exhausted his/her sick leave or a new employee may be advanced sick leave, with the approval of the Superintendent, but the amount of sick leave days may not exceed the total number that can be earned in the contract year. Unearned sick leave charged to the employee will at the end of the contract year result in the loss of pay for the days unearned.
B. Employees absent for reasons other than those covered under sick leave, and not approved by the Superintendent of Schools, are subject to progressive discipline as per negotiated agreement (Article 12) which could include termination for falsification of leave as per ORC 3319.
