Annual Vacation Sign-Up. Vacation may be scheduled by mutual agreement. If the parties are unable to come to agreement, the following vacation sign-up procedure shall apply: a) Vacation sign-up occurs once a year and must be completed prior to October 31st each year unless specified otherwise in the Collective Agreement. b) Each employee must submit a completed intent form by October 1st. This information will be used by management to determine the number of vacation spots to be allocated for each week of the sign-up. c) All regular employees will participate in the sign-up including those on a temporary transfer of absence. Each employee will be assigned a sign-up date and time for each round of the sign-up. These dates and times will be posted a minimum of one (1) week prior to sign-up. d) If an employee is not present, cannot be reached, hasn’t left a choice slip or refuses to sign during their sign-up time, the COPE representative will sign vacation weeks for the employee similar to their current year’s selection. a) If a vacation week becomes available during the vacation year because of retirement, termination, transfer. (i) That week will be made available to employees in order of seniority, who did not have the opportunity to sign it during the annual vacation sign-up, and If a subsequent vacation week becomes available due to an employee trading a week, that week will be made available to employees, in order of seniority who did not have the opportunity to sign it during the vacation sign-up. This process will continue until no employee wishes to schedule the vacation week(s).

(e) Vacation periods will be allocated by seniority. Wherever conflicts occur the 2nd or 3rd choice will be confirmed. (f) Each employee will be notified regarding their confirmed vacation periods; based upon an employee’s seniority. The notification form shall be signed by both the employee and an officer of the Corporation.

In addition, every member has the option of signing up for vacation for the whole fiscal year, i.e., July through June. Each year on August 1st a second vacation sign-up sheet will be posted for the months of January through June of the current fiscal year, indicating those vacation time periods remaining after the February sign-up. Requests for vacation time periods will be granted with seniority having preference. Requests for any of these remaining vacation time periods must be made by September 1st. No more than four (4) Patrol Officers (including desk officers), one (1) Patrol Sergeant, two (2) members of the Investigative Services Division (seniority, not rank, to determine which officer(s) has priority, one (1) School Resource Officer, one (1) Records Officer, (1) IT Officer, (1) Training Officer, and (1) Administrative Sergeant may be off at one time. The number of officers on simultaneous vacation leave may be increased with the approval of the Chief of Police. For purposes of this staffing requirement, employees who are out on leave consisting of holidays (block or single), in addition to employees on vacation leave, will count towards the maximum number of officers allowed to be out at one time, as set forth above. An exception to the seniority rule of awarding vacation requests will be made when a junior officer bids for the same time block as a more senior officer but requests more consecutive days. Blocks will be defined as the one (1) week periods posted in the vacation sign-up sheets. Finalized vacation sign-up sheets will be posted on April 1st and October 1st.

  • ANNUAL VACATIONS 15.01 Employees shall be entitled to an annual vacation after one (1) year of employment with pay, calculated as follows: (a) 3/52nds of the earnings of that year of service after one (1) year and each subsequent year thereafter, up to and including five (5) completed years of service; (b) 4/52nds of the earnings for the year commencing after five (5) completed years of service and each subsequent year thereafter, up to ten (10) completed years of service; (c) 5/52nds of the earnings after ten (10) completed years of service and each subsequent year thereafter. 15.02 For other than full-time employees, all vacation pay will be paid to employees on December 15th in each year unless the employee requests vacation pay when a holiday is taken. In such circumstances, the employee will receive vacation pay requested at that time or a portion of the payment at that time and the balance on December 15th. Part-time employees will be allowed to make two (2) such requests per year based on earnings to June 30th. Full-time employees will receive vacation pay when they take their vacation. 15.03 Employees who are hospitalized or make use of compassionate leave during their vacation period shall be credited with extra vacation time equivalent to the time used. 15.04 Vacations cannot be accumulated from one year to another. 15.05 When a statutory holiday occurs during an employee’s vacation, an extra day’s vacation shall be granted if the holiday is one for which the employee would have received pay if he/she had been working. 15.06 If the employment of an employee is terminated, the Employer shall pay him/her for any vacation time he/she has earned. 15.07 A vacation list shall be submitted to the employees requesting them to indicate their preference as to vacation dates. Both parties agree, however, that the vacation schedule must be practical insofar as the operation of the business is concerned and therefore the Employer is able to make a final decision as to how many and which employees would be able to take vacation at any particular time. Seniority shall prevail in the event of a conflict of vacation requests between employees.

  • Annual Vacation Entitlement (a) An Employee shall be entitled to receive annual vacation leave with pay: (i) each year during her first forty-eight (48) months of service at the rate of one and one-quarter (1 1/4) days for each month of service; and (ii) each year after forty-eight (48) months of service at the rate of one and two-thirds (1 2/3) days for each month of service; and (iii) each year after one hundred and sixty-eight (168) months of service at the rate of two and one-twelfth (2-1/12) days for each month of service; and (iv) each year after two hundred and eighty-eight (288) months of service at the rate of two and one half (2 ½) days for each month of service. (b) An Employee who, as of February 19, 2001, has earned entitlement to more vacation than provided for in Article 17.01(a) of the collective agreement by virtue of her terms and conditions of employment with a predecessor employer shall retain that entitlement. Any future increase in vacation entitlement for such Employees shall be pursuant to Article 17.01(a).
