Application of Overtime. 1. If, in the judgment of a Department Head, work beyond the official 40 hour work week is required, overtime work may be ordered. This overtime work will be compensated for as provided in this section.
2. Time worked as overtime shall not be counted as service time for purposes of employee benefits, eligibility or accrual or early completion of probationary period or for merit increases. Compensatory time off taken by an employee may be used as part of the established work week to earn employee benefits and to serve out probation and merit increase periods.
3. No permanent, probationary, or limited term employee may be employed in one or more positions, full or part-time, more than a total of 40 hours per week, excepting authorized overtime, unless authorized by the Board of Supervisors. Nothing in this section is to preclude an employee from temporarily serving in another capacity in the event of an emergency, provided s/he has the approval of the Department Head.
4. Except as otherwise provided in this section, an employee who works compensable overtime shall be paid or given compensatory time off, at the discretion of the Department Head, at a rate equal to one and one half (1½) times the hourly equivalent of such employee's monthly salary at the time the overtime was worked.

CTO taken by an employee may be used as part of the established work week (or 14-day period for those employees assigned to 12- hour shifts) to earn employee benefits and to serve out probation and merit increase periods.

4. At no time shall CTO carried by an employee be more than 150 hours unless otherwise indicated in this Article. When the CTO balance reaches the maximum and the department cannot let the employee off, the employee shall be paid at the hourly rate at which the employee is currently employed for all hours over the maximum.
5. Except as otherwise provided in this section, an employee who works compensable overtime shall be paid or given compensatory time off at the discretion of the Department Head for such compensable overtime at the rate DSA MOU 08/01/19 – 06/30/22 | ARTICLE 6OVERTIME AND CALLBACK equal to one and one-half (1½) times the hourly equivalent of such employee's current monthly salary.
Application of Overtime. If temporary employees are required to work in excess of twelve (12) hours in a day or eighty (80) hours in a fortnight, subject to Appendix I, Article 11, overtime will be paid. If two blocks of forty-eight (48) hours in a fortnight are available for a particular temporary employee the employer will arrange for the temporary employee to be scheduled off for one of the twelve (12) hours and will arrange for a second temporary employee to work that twelve
Application of Overtime. An employee who is requested by the Employer to work additional time beyond seven and one half (7-1/2) hours per day, except as set out in 20.02 (b), will be entitled to: ● time and one-half of their basic hourly rate of pay for the first three (3) hours of overtime and double-time (2x) thereafter. An employee who is requested by the Employer to work additional time beyond thirty-seven and one half (37-1/2) hours per week, except as set out in 20.02 (b), will be entitled to: ● time and one-half for the first seven and one half (7-1/2) hours per week and double time (2x) thereafter. Overtime hours paid for on a daily basis will not be used in the calculation of weekly hours.
Application of Overtime. An employee who is required to work overtime shall be entitled to overtime compensation when the overtime worked is authorized in advance by the Employer. It is understood that, in emergency situations, prior authorization may not be possible. Employees working in more than one program are obligated to inform the Employer or designate and receive approval if they asked to work hours that would result in overtime.

An employee who is requested by the Employer to work additional time beyond seven-and-one-half (7½) hours per day, except as set out in 20.02 (b), will be entitled to: ● time-and-one-half (1½) of their basic hourly rate of pay for the first three (3) hours of overtime and double-time (2x) thereafter. An employee who is requested by the Employer to work additional time beyond thirty-seven-and-one-half (37½) hours per week, except as set out in 20.02 (b), will be entitled to: ● time-and-one-half (1½) for the first seven-and-one-half (7½) hours per week and double-time (2x) thereafter. Overtime hours paid for on a daily basis will not be used in the calculation of weekly hours.

All overtime provisions of the Collective Agreement shall apply, including extended tours of duty, call-outs, and disaster call-outs, except that for court time on weekly leave, the member will only be entitled to four (4) hours for a morning session and four (4) hours for an afternoon session.
