Application of Salary Schedule. 7.4.1 Initial Placement
7.4.1.1 Nothing in this agreement shall prevent a prospective employee from being hired at a salary above the minimum required by this Article.
7.4.1.2 In the determination of initial step placement on the salary schedule for each employee one (1) step will normally be credited for every year of relevant full-time teaching experience. Consideration will be given to other related work experience, and further consideration will be given to relevant educational attainment which is in excess of the accreditation normally required for the position, e.g., advanced degrees in a relevant subject area, Instructor's Diploma, Teaching Certificate.
7.4.1.3 The onus is on the prospective employee to submit, prior to appointment, documentation in proof of instructional/work experience for credit.
7.4.1.4 The Association shall be advised of the name and initial placement of all employees upon confirmation of appointment.

Application of Salary Schedule. 4.01 All teaching experience obtained by a teacher prior to engagement by the Board shall be recognized provided that it was under a Canadian authority and accepted by the Northwest Territories Teacher Qualification Service (NWTTQS), as if it has been teaching experience in schools under the Board’s jurisdiction. Teaching experience claimed under other jurisdictions shall be at the onus of the teacher to provide written evidence from the other jurisdictions.
4.02 Evaluation of a teacher’s university education shall be the number of completed years of training as recognized and determined by the NWTTQS. Teachers must apply for a NWTTQS evaluation. If an NWTTQS evaluation is not provided, the teacher shall be placed at Category 4, Step 0 and receive no increment until the NWTTQS is received. Teachers already employed who are seeking reclassification must submit to the Board a revised NWTTQS evaluation. Any retroactive adjustment resulting from such reclassification is limited to the date the teacher submitted the request for reclassification, or the date the additional education was achieved, whichever is later.
4.03 The salary will be divided into twelve (12) equal payments with the first payment on the last day in September and the balance of payments on the last day of each month following. For employees other than substitute teachers, a mid-month advance in the amount of one-half (½) of the monthly net pay rounded down to the nearest dollar shall be paid each month.
4.04 Any teacher leaving before the end of the school year for a cause acceptable to both parties shall receive the portion of his/her salary for which he/she has worked based on 192 days per year. This payment shall be made not more than thirty (30) days after the date of termination.
4.05 For all teachers hired after the school year starts the adjustment date for changes in the number of years allowed for teaching experience shall be:
a) July 1 of the following year if the number of days of teaching experience in excess of a teaching year held by the teacher at the commencement of employment with the Board, plus the number of teaching days with the Board in the initial school year is greater than or equal to 150; or
b) On the anniversary date of commencement of employment in all other cases.
4.06 Part-time teachers will not be required to work more than their regular hours for three-way conferences, or PD days. Part-time teachers who choose to work a full day will be paid at the substitute ...
Application of Salary Schedule. 11.1.1 Effective July 1, 2018, the classified salary schedule shall be increased by a percentage equal to the actually-received COLA in the adopted budget less 1.0%; however, in no event shall the percentage increase be less than 2.5%. In addition, each eligible unit member shall receive within 60 days of ratification of this Agreement a one-time bonus equal to the unit members share of the distribution of the Classified Employee Welfare fund as set forth in Article 12.15.

The final decision with respect to salary placement shall be made by the President and should this decision be unacceptable to the employee or Association, they shall have access to the provisions of Article 15 of this Agreement.

7.4.1.5 An employee who feels that an anomaly or inequity exists in their initial placement on the salary schedule may, within ninety (90) working days of their initial placement, request a review by the President of the Association and the appropriate Xxxx of Instruction/Manager. The final decision with respect to salary placement shall be made by the Executive Director, Human Resources, and should this decision be unacceptable to the employee or Association, they shall have access to the provisions of Article 21 of this Agreement.
7.4.2 Re-evaluation of Placement on Regularization An employee who is regularized as per Article 2.2.8 after performing work both as an Auxiliary and as a Term employee following their initial placement on the Salary Schedule, may within thirty (30) working days of their regularization, request that the Executive Director, Human Resources, re-examine their placement on the grid to ensure that full credit for all work performed for the College by the employee is reflected in the salary step on which the employee is paid.

Application of Salary Schedule. 11.1.1 To implement the “me too” agreement between the parties, effective July 1, 2020, the salary schedule of unit members shall be increased by 1.5%. In addition, each unit member shall receive within 30 days of ratification of this Agreement, a one-time bonus of $3,000.00.

Application of Salary Schedule. 7.1 Teacher Experience
7.1.1 A year of experience shall be a school year. In the case of a teacher teaching less than the school year, the days taught will be cumulative until 130 full -time equivalent days have been reached. The salary adjustment will take place on January 1 or September 1 immediately following the accumulation of 130 days.
7.1.2 Whenever a year of teaching experience has been earned, the teacher shall not begin to earn credit toward another year of experience until commencement of another school year or January 1, whichever occurs earlier. A teacher shall earn only one experience increment per school year.
7.1.3 Teaching experience obtained by a teacher prior to engagement by the Board shall be counted as if it had been teaching experience in a school under the Board's jurisdiction.
7.1.4 The teacher shall be responsible to submit satisfactory evidence of teaching experience to the Board. Until 60 days have elapsed from the commencement of employment or until satisfactory evidence is submitted, the teacher shall be paid for experience as claimed. If after 60 days satisfactory evidence is not submitted the teacher shall be paid the minimum for his/her years of university education. Years of experience shall be paid retroactive to the commencement of employment.
