Calculation of Sick Leave. 16.A.3.a. For each hour of basic assignment that a unit member misses due to illness, one hour will be deducted from his/her accrued sick leave rounded up to the nearest ¼ hour.
Calculation of Sick Leave. 1. There shall be fifteen (15) days of sick leave per school year for each full-time unit member employed by the Board. Unit members who render part-time, seasonal, intermittent, per diem, or hourly service shall be entitled to sick leave for the time actually worked at the same rate as that granted like full-time unit members. A unit member employed as a substitute with an assignment to one specific teaching position shall, after sixty (60) days of service, be granted sick leave. The basis for determining the number of days of sick leave for full-time unit members shall be one and one-fourth (1-1/4) days per month for twelve (12) months. Sick leave shall be cumulative to a maximum of two hundred sixty (260) days. Sick leave above two hundred sixty (260) days can accumulate at the rate of 15 days per year for the purposes of sick leave only.
Calculation of Sick Leave. Sick leave shall be calculated from the first day of the pay period following the day on which the employee commenced County service, unless said service commenced on the first working day of the pay period, in which case biweekly pay periods of service shall be calculated from the day that the employee commenced County service. Paid vacation leave, paid military leave, or other forms of leave with pay, including VTO, shall be counted in biweekly pay periods of service. Any employee absent from his/her duties without pay for more than two (2) working days in a pay period shall not accrue sick leave for that pay period.

For the purposes of computing sick leave entitlement, an Employee who commences employment during the period from the first (1st) to fifteenth (15th) of the month, will receive credit for the month's service. Employees commencing employment from the sixteenth (16th) to the end of the month will be considered as commencing their service, for sick leave purposes, on the first (1st) day of the following month.

After three (3) months of an employee’s continuous illness, if said employee works a five (5) day on, and two (2) day off shift, he shall be entitled to have sick leave recomputed as if his shift was four (4) days on, and two (2) days off, retroactive to the first day of said continuous illness.
