CALL-BACK DUTY. 7.1 Each Civilian member who is called back to work after having completed his or her regular tour of duty, and having left the place where the regular tour of duty has terminated, shall be paid at overtime rates and in any such event shall be paid not less than three (3) hours pay at overtime rates, provided however, that such member shall not be entitled to pay where the call-back of such member has been necessitated by reason of some negligent or improper act or omission on the part of such member during the course of his or her duty. Payment for such overtime shall be paid to the member on a bi-weekly basis.

CALL-BACK DUTY. A. Employees who are on call during their off-duty time due to their assignment (i.e., Homicide Investigators, Internal Affairs Sergeants, Crimes Against Persons Sergeants, etc.) and are called back to work will be paid for their travel time at the overtime rate from the time they leave their home until the time they return home, or until their regularly scheduled shift begins. Only that period of time devoted to work will be compensated. If employees are not home when they are called back to duty, they will receive their normal home to work travel time or if closer to City than their home, travel to that location and back. B. Employees who are ordered back to work while off-duty because of an emergency or other unforeseen event will be paid for travel time at the overtime rate from the time they leave their home until they return home, or until their regularly scheduled shift begins. Only that period of time devoted to work will be compensated. C. Employees who are called at home and offered voluntary overtime work, and elect to accept the offer, will not be compensated for travel time in any manner. Similarly, employees who sign up for voluntary overtime, or who have advance notice that they will have to work during their off-duty time on an overtime basis, will not be compensated for travel time.

Effective May 03, 2011 when a Member of the Service is called back to duty on a Statutory Holiday, the Member shall be paid an amount equal to two (2) times the regular hourly rate for each hour worked for a minimum of four (4) hours, and in addition, the Member shall be given a compensating day off. CALL-BACK DUTY. Police Sergeants called back from home for off duty overtime shall receive a minimum of two (2) hours of overtime pay. Such call back requests shall be approved by the on-duty supervisor prior to an employee being called back. Timekeeping for the two-hour minimum shall include travel from home to the Covina Police Station or crime scene, whichever is applicable, not to exceed thirty (30) minutes of travel time. Employees called back to work due to their own errors, omissions or negligence shall not be subject to the minimum two (2) hours of overtime pay, however will receive overtime equal to the time actually worked.
CALL-BACK DUTY. (1) Call Back Duty occurs when a Member is called back to work during any off time. The pay for Call Back Duty shall be at the rate of time and one-half, and it shall be paid for a minimum of four (4) hours. (2) When a Member is called back to duty on a Statutory Holiday, the Member shall be paid an amount equal to three (3) times (effective May 3, 2011 two (2) times) the regular hourly rate for each hour worked for a minimum of four (4) hours, and in addition, the Member shall be given a compensating day off. (a) If the Member is scheduled to work on the day of the Call In, then the Member is entitled to a minimum of three (3) hours pay at an amount equal three (3) times the regular hourly rate, plus compensating time off hour for hour as worked. (3) Call Back Duty shall include any duty, training courses and when ordered on parade. (4) When a Member is called back to duty while on Annual Holidays or Leave in Lieu of Holidays, the Member shall be paid at a rate of twice the hourly rate of salary for each hour worked for a minimum of four (4) hours, and in addition, the Member shall be given a compensating day off. (5) Compensating time off shall be at a day or time acceptable to both the Chief of Police and the Member. (6) In the event a Member’s holidays are cancelled or re-scheduled, by the Chief of Police, within twenty-one (21) days of the scheduled date of holidays the Member shall be entitled to twice the hourly rate of pay for each hour worked for a minimum of four (4) hours, and in addition the Member shall be given a compensating day off for each day worked.
CALL-BACK DUTY. Employees shall receive a minimum of two (2) hours of overtime compensation (time and one-half) for any call (fifteen (15) or more minutes beyond the end of their shift) which requires them to return to duty. Call Back Pay begins when an employee returns to work and does not include travel time. Call Back Pay does not apply to regular or pre-scheduled work.
CALL-BACK DUTY. Employees who are recalled to active duty from off-duty not as an extension of the scheduled or normal work shift will be considered to be “on call” and shall receive overtime compensation at one and one-half times (1½) the employee’s base rate of pay for time actually worked after reporting to the place of duty or just two (2)1/2 hours of overtimesuch premium pay, whichever is greater. Employees who are able to handle the incident by phone or other electronic means without reporting to duty shall be compensated according to the same callback provisions a location away from that where the call was received, shall be compensated for the actual time devoted to the call, but not less than 15 minutes.

CALL-BACK DUTY. Employees covered by this Agreement who are called back to duty from off duty to perform work outside their regular work schedule shall receive and be paid for a minimum of two and six-tenths (2.6) hours at the rate of one and one-half (1.5) the regular rate of pay. Employees shall be entitled to call back pay in the event the employee is required to report back to work after completing his regular work shift, left City premises, and/or the employee work location. In accordance with FLSA, actual hours worked, including travel from home to the call back location shall be counted toward the computation of overtime pay. As approved by the Division Manager, an employee who is able to handle the incident by phone or other electronic means without having to report to duty may be compensated according to the same call back provisions.

On request of the Member and at the discretion of the Chief of Police, a Member may be granted casual days or portion thereof off duty. Such casual leave will be debited against any accumulation of court and overtime standing to the credit.
