Commercial Driver’s Licenses. The following provisions only apply to employees whose job classifications require them to obtain and maintain a commercial driver’s license (Class A or Class B).
A. Employees who obtain or renew a commercial driver’s license will be reimbursed by the City for the difference between the commercial driver’s license fee and the Class C driver’s license fee.
B. Employees will be allowed to complete the Department of Motor Vehicles commercial driver’s license process (DMV license exam and Department of Transportation medical certification appointments) during regularly scheduled working hours on City-paid time under the following conditions:
1. DMV and medical certification appointments will be scheduled with the intent to minimize operational impact, such as at the end of the work shift.
2. Employees will complete their medical certification exams at the City-provided clinic.
3. Employees will be required to obtain prior approval from their supervisor and shall submit a proof of attendance at appointments to their supervisor.
C. Employees who choose to complete their medical certification exams with their personal doctor will do so on their own time and at their own expense; City-paid time will not be provided in such instances.
Commercial Driver’s Licenses. The Board will pay the cost of Commercial Drivers’ licenses for all employees required to have them.
Commercial Driver’s Licenses. When an employee is required as a condition of University employment to possess a Commercial Driver’s License, the department may reimburse that employee for the additional cost(s) associated with the Commercial Driver’s License.
Commercial Driver’s Licenses. At the time of renewal, any employee required to maintain a CDL will be entitled to a 50% reimbursement of the cost of the license after five years of service.
Commercial Driver’s Licenses. All employees who are required to hold commercial driver's licenses shall be subject to testing for alcohol and/or controlled substances as required by federal and State of Ohio law.
Commercial Driver’s Licenses. In order to assure a sufficient number of Bargaining Unit employees are in compliance with U. S. Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations to operate vehicles subject to DOT regulations, the Company and the Union agree: Article XV (Cont’d.)
1. Employees who become qualified to operate vehicles for the Company requiring a CDL after the effective date of this agreement shall be reimbursed for their initial CDL license fee and the CDL license fees that become due while they remain qualified. Employees shall be reimbursed for their current CDL license fee, if not previously reimbursed.
Commercial Driver’s Licenses. An employee whose job duties require him or her to have a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) under Ohio Revised Code Chapter 4506, including appropriate endorsements, shall do so at all times. The City shall pay all costs associated with CDL testing for each employee required to have a CDL for up to two (2) CDL examinations. An employee who is required and fails to maintain an appropriate CDL shall revert to the next lowest pay rate in his or her job classification not requiring a CDL until the appropriate CDL is acquired or six (6) months, whichever occurs first. If the appropriate CDL has not been obtained during the aforesaid six (6) month period, the employee shall revert to the lowest entry level pay rate in his or her job classification until the appropriate CDL is acquired. An employee who obtains an appropriate CDL shall be reinstated to their former pay rate effective when the CDL is obtained. The job duties of the following positions will require them to obtain CDL's within the time periods required in ORC Chapter 4506:
1. Street Division

c. Crew Leaders
d. Mechanics above entry level
e. Laborers and maintenance workers above starting rate in the attached Appendices.
2. Parks and Recreation Department
a. Crew Xxxxxxx
b. Crew Leader

3. Water Division
a. Laborers and maintenance workers above starting rate in the attached Appendices.
Commercial Driver’s Licenses. All employees in applicable positions who are medically and physically qualified are expected to obtain and maintain a commercial driver's license with such endorsements as necessary to operate vehicles assigned to their work unit. New employees shall be required to obtain the license during their probationary period. In the event a new employee is unable to obtain the license during their probationary period, through no fault of their own, the City shall extend the probationary period, but will not withhold the employee’s step increase due at that time. No employee who fails to obtain this type of driver's license for medical/physical reasons shall be disciplined.
Commercial Driver’s Licenses. Maintaining a valid Commercial Driver's license is required for all CEA job classifications. Evidence of a valid commercial license shall be obtained upon hire and throughout City employment while in a job classification requiring such license. Employees shall be responsible for maintaining a valid Commercial Driver's license, including DMV renewal and medical examination. Employees shall be scheduled outside of their work shift to attend medical examination appointments and shall be paid overtime for actual hours spent at the medical examination, up to a maximum of two (2) hours overtime. The Community Services Department shall assist unit employees by scheduling medical appointments and providing required forms for the medical exams. The Community Services Department shall pay for Commercial Driver's license medical examinations completed at the City's designated clinic.

29.2 The City will provide: An opportunity for each employee to develop the skill required to obtain the license. Reimbursement for fees to obtain the license and endorsements, provided that if the employee incurs additional charges because he or she fails any part of the exam, those charges shall be the employee's responsibility. The required medical/physical examination provided that, at the city option, the city may reimburse the employee for a physical examination by a physician of the employer's choice. An employee wishing to use his or her own physician when the city offers a paid examination with its own physician will not be reimbursed for the examination. Use of a city vehicle to take the practical/driving portion of the examination, on city time, provided that the city may require that the employee demonstrate proficiency in operating the vehicle in a trainee capacity before allowing the employee to use the vehicle in the driving test. All employees required to maintain a Commercial Drivers' License shall be subject to all rules and regulations issued by the federal government including requirements for drug testing. The employer will make a reasonable effort to reassign an employee who loses their CDL for up to one (1) year to a job that does not require a CDL.
