COMPANY RECOGNIZED HOLIDAYS. 8.01 The following days are designated Company recognized holidays: New Year’s Day Labour Day Good Friday Thanksgiving Day Easter Monday Remembrance Day Victoria Day Christmas Day Canada Day Boxing Day B.C. Day Family Day plus any other Federal or Provincial holiday as proclaimed. The period of time recognized as the holiday is the twenty-four (24) hour period beginning at 12:01 a.m. on the day which is recognized as the holiday. 8.02 When the Company recognized holiday occurs on a normally scheduled work day: (a) An employee not required to work will receive pay at his normal pay rate for his normally scheduled hours. (b) An employee required to work will be paid his normal pay rate plus the premium rate for the hours worked. 8.03 When a Company recognized holiday occurs on a Saturday or Sunday, the Company shall proclaim a Company wide holiday on the first working day following. Hours worked on such proclaimed holiday(s) will be paid at the premium rates as applicable. 8.04 Except for employees who are prevented from working because of sickness or accident, to qualify for pay on Company recognized holidays, an employee must work fifteen (15) of the thirty (30) working days immediately preceding the holiday. The Company may require a medical certificate to be produced in default of which an employee absent on the qualifying days shall not be entitled to be paid.

COMPANY RECOGNIZED HOLIDAYS. 6.01 The following holidays shall be recognized: New Year's Day Family Day Good Friday Victoria Day Canada Day First Monday in August Labour Day Thanksgiving Day Remembrance Day Christmas Day Boxing Day One additional recognized floater holiday mutually agreed between the Union and employer by April 30th of each year. 6.02 Where a Company recognized holiday occurs on an employee's regularly scheduled work day and the employee is required, to work, the employee shall be granted eight (8) hours pay at their regular straight time rate for the holiday, in addition to pay as provided in Clause 4.05. 6.03 When a Company-recognized holiday occurs on an employee's regularly scheduled day of rest, the employee shall receive holiday pay equivalent to eight (8) hours at their regular straight time rate. 6.04 Employees who fail to work when required to do so on a Company recognized holiday, without just reason, will not be paid for such holiday. Employees who are absent without permission or justifiable reason either the day before or the day after the Company recognized holiday will not be paid holiday pay. 6.05 Shift workers shall observe the Company recognized holidays on the day on which they fall. When a Company recognized holiday falls on a shift worker's scheduled day of rest, the employee shall receive premium rate on the first scheduled work day back following the holiday. Day workers shall observe Friday for Company recognized holidays which fall on Saturday; except when Friday is a day of rest, the first scheduled working day following the days of rest will be observed as a Company recognized holiday. When a Company recognized holiday falls on Sunday, Monday will be observed as a Company recognized holiday. By the end of each year the Company and Union will meet to resolve any unusual situations that may arise in the forth-coming year in connection with the fit of Company recognized holidays and the day workers' schedule. At the same meeting the Company, with the assistance of the Union, will determine the date of the additional recognized holiday in Clause 6.01. 6.06 Should either the Provincial or Federal Governments legislate a new statutory holiday, the parties to this agreement agree that the twelfth statutory holiday shall be taken to observe any new statutory holiday declared by legislation.

  • Recognized Holidays 2201 For purposes of this Agreement, Recognized (paid) Holidays shall be New Year's Day (January 1st), Xxxxx Xxxx Day (la journée Xxxxx Xxxx), Good Friday, Easter Monday, Victoria Day, Canada Day (July 1st), the first Monday in August, Labour Day, Thanksgiving Day, Remembrance Day (November 11th), Christmas Day (December 25th), and Boxing Day (December 26th); and any other statutory holidays declared by federal or provincial authority. 2202 Whenever a Recognized Holiday falls on her/his scheduled days off, it is understood that this day off in lieu shall be banked in accordance with Article 2206, or the nurse may request that a day in lieu of the Recognized Holiday be scheduled on a date mutually agreed between the Employer and the nurse, or the nurse may request that she/he receive an extra day’s pay at her/his basic rate of pay. 2203 A nurse required to work on a Recognized Holiday shall be paid at the rate of one and one-half (1.50) times her/his basic pay and in addition it is understood that one (1) day off shall be banked in accordance with Article 2206, or the nurse may request that a day in lieu of the Recognized Holiday be scheduled on a date mutually agreed between the Employer and the nurse, or the nurse may request that she/he receive an extra day’s pay at her/his basic rate of pay. 2204 A day off given in lieu of a Recognized Holiday shall be added to a weekend off or to scheduled days off unless otherwise mutually agreed. 2205 The Employer agrees to assign time off as equitably as possible over Christmas and New Year's, endeavouring to grant each nurse as many consecutive days off as reasonably possible over either Christmas Day or New Year's Day. As much as reasonably possible, Christmas Eve and Boxing Day shall be assigned with Christmas Day; New Year's Eve shall be assigned with New Year's Day, unless otherwise mutually agreed. Nurses shall be assigned time off over Christmas or New Years in alternate years unless otherwise mutually agreed. 2206 A nurse may accumulate up to four (4) days off in lieu of Recognized Holidays to be taken with scheduled days off or to complete a partial week of vacation or at such other time as is requested and granted in accordance with 1501. Unless otherwise agreed between the nurse concerned and the Employer, accumulated lieu days must be taken within the fiscal year in which they were earned.

  • Designated Holidays A part-time employee shall not be paid for the designated holidays but shall, instead be paid four decimal two five percent (4.25%) for all straight-time hours worked.

  • Paid Holidays – Long Weekends (a) When an employee is scheduled to work a weekend where a paid holiday falls on the Monday or the Friday, the Employer shall endeavour to also schedule the employee to work the paid holiday. (b) When the employee is scheduled off on a weekend where a paid holiday falls on the Monday or the Friday, the Employer shall endeavour to schedule the employee off the paid holiday. If an employee is absent from work for any part of the last scheduled work day before or the first scheduled work day after the day on which a holiday is observed pursuant to the terms of this Article, such employee shall receive holiday pay provided such absence is for an authorized or excused reason such as, but not limited to, illness, accident, vacation, personal leave day, bereavement leave day, or extreme weather conditions. It is understood that such authorized or excused absence need not be with pay in order for the employee to be eligible for the holiday pay. F. Subject to prior mutual written agreement between the Town and the Association, a schedule for holiday observances which differs from the days indicated in A may be established for employees of the Greenwich Library and Greenwich Board of Education, provided that the number of paid holidays is equal to the number of holidays set forth in A. In the event no agreement is reached for such change, the holiday schedule set forth in A shall control. Notwithstanding the above, in the event Board of Education determines to include Columbus Day and/or Veterans’ Day as a regular school day, such day(s) shall become part of the regular work week and the premium pay as set forth in paragraph C of this Article shall not apply. In such event each employee affected by the change shall be granted a floating holiday for Columbus Day and Veterans’ Day as each may be discontinued at the discretion of the Board of Education. The floating holidays shall be used during the school year. An employee wishing to use such floating holiday shall provide the Board with advance notice and the Board shall not unreasonably deny, condition or withhold the employee’s ability to utilize the floating holiday on a date of the employee’s choosing.

  • Worked Holidays Employees who are required to work on the above-named holidays shall receive the pay due them for the holiday, plus double their base rate for all hours worked on such holiday, plus shift differential and Cost of Living Adjustment, if applicable, unless the employee starts to work at 10:00 P.M., or thereafter on that day.

  • Saturdays, Sundays, Holidays If the last or appointed day for the taking of any action or the expiration of any right required or granted herein shall be a Saturday or a Sunday or shall be a legal holiday in the State of New York, then such action may be taken or such right may be exercised on the next succeeding day not a legal holiday.

  • Observed Holidays The following days shall be observed as paid holidays for all eligible employees:

  • Religious Holidays When a religious holiday, not observed as a holiday, as provided in Section 2 above, falls on a supervisor's regularly scheduled work day, the supervisor shall be entitled to that day off to observe the religious holiday. Time to observe religious holidays shall be taken without pay except where the supervisor has sufficient accumulated vacation leave or accumulated compensatory time, or, by mutual consent, is able to make the time up. Supervisors shall notify the Appointing Authority at least twenty-eight (28) calendar days prior to the leave.

  • Saturdays, Sundays, Holidays, etc If the last or appointed day for the taking of any action or the expiration of any right required or granted herein shall not be a Business Day, then such action may be taken or such right may be exercised on the next succeeding Business Day.
