Course Eligibility. Credit will be given for the completion of college, adult education, or trade school courses pertinent to the unit member’s job assignment or promotional job opportunities. The courses must be completed with a grade of "C" or better or "pass" if grading is done on a pass/fail basis. Professional Growth credits may be earned either before or after employment. Credit shall be given for District paid in-service approved by the superintendent.

Programs leading to professional certification must be in a specific job-related field of professional discipline and should provide the participating employee with skills, knowledge and competencies applicable to their current position. In order to be eligible for reimbursement, the employee's supervisor must review and certify that the program for which the employee is applying meets the specified criteria and that guidelines have been met.

Any registered professional nurse employed by the County, who desires to enroll in one or more courses at an accredited educational institution in the field of nursing, or in courses which the Director of Nursing or the department head agrees would aid in the practice and performance of services to the County and will contribute to professional growth, may submit in advance of commencing such course or courses, a letter of application to the department head for approval to receive reimbursement for the cost of tuition and books.

Credits given for non-classroom assignments such as life experiences, military training, and professional training are not reimbursable. While on-line courses from accredited institutions are acceptable, correspondence courses are not eligible for reimbursement. Coursework must be related to the employee's current occupation or to a City classification to which the employee may reasonably expect promotion. No coursework beyond the Master's Degree level or any law school coursework is eligible for reimbursement. Each course must be identified as to whether it is a core course or a recommended elective for the approved major. Courses that duplicate previously taken courses are not eligible. With prior approval from the district superintendent or designee, the following courses shall be eligible for reimbursement and lane advancement: -Courses which are part of a degree program in the staff member’s discipline or in education. -Courses which are prerequisite to approved graduate courses and which are recommended by the building principal as valuable to the educational program. -Post-graduate courses, including, but not limited to, on-line courses, clinics, workshops and seminars if deemed by the Superintendent or designee to be relevant to District initiatives including, but not limited to, school improvement goals, MTSS, professional learning team department goals, differentiated instructional techniques, research-based effective teaching techniques, or curriculum mapping and only if such online course, clinic, workshop or seminar is also regarded by the Superintendent or designee to require a sufficient degree of academic rigor and challenge to the student. Should coursework be denied, a written explanation will be provided. -Courses or seminars related to extracurricular activities shall not be eligible for reimbursement, unless such course or seminar is deemed by the Superintendent or designee to be relevant to the staff member’s instructional responsibilities.

The Course is not intended to support nutrition professionals, such as Registered Dietitians, or health coaches who are looking to gain experience working with clients with PCOS. If Company becomes aware that a nutrition professional or health coach has joined for this reason, Company will immediately cancel any access to the Course for such individuals. No refunds will be granted in this circumstance.
