Education Program and Curriculum. 1. Any material change to the education program or curriculum as described in the approved Application or Charter requires Sponsor approval. 2. The School agrees to implement its educational and related programs as specified in the Application unless otherwise modified by this Charter. 3. The School shall make reading a primary focus of the curriculum and provide sufficient resources to identify and provide specialized instruction for students who are reading below grade level. The reading curriculum and instructional strategies shall be consistent with Florida Standards and grounded in scientifically-based reading research. 4. The School shall adopt the District’s plan for English Language Learners, or implement an alternate District approved plan. If applicable, the School's plan for English Language Learners is attached hereto as Appendix 3. The plan must include sufficient information and detail to allow the Sponsor to determine legal sufficiency. 5. The School will establish the current incoming baseline standard of student academic achievement, the outcomes to be achieved, and the method of measurement that will be used, as described in the approved Application or otherwise described in this Charter.

Any material change to the School’s current education program and/or curriculum and/or any material change to what is described in the approved Renewal Application or Charter requires Sponsor approval and shall be submitted to the Sponsor for consideration by May 1st in any given year for the subsequent school year. 2. The School agrees to implement its educational and related programs as specified in the Renewal Application unless otherwise modified by this Charter. 3. The School shall make reading a primary focus of the curriculum and provide sufficient resources to identify and provide specialized instruction for students who are reading below grade level. The reading curriculum and instructional strategies shall be consistent with Florida Standards and grounded in scientifically-based reading research. 4. The School shall adopt the Sponsor’s plan for English Language Learners, or submit an alternate Sponsor approved plan prior to the execution of this Contract. The plan must include sufficient information and detail to allow the Sponsor to determine legal sufficiency.

The School agrees to ensure that its learning methods, programs and operations are innovative and consistent with the State education goals established by section 1000.03(5), Florida Statutes.

The School will continue to offer the Junior Reserves Officer Training Corps program. 8. The School will maintain the current Jefferson County Elementary mascot and school colors. 9. The School will create a School Advisory Council (SAC) comprised of school personnel, parents, students, and community members. Members will be able to address and vote on pertinent school matters on a regular basis and present those recommendations to the governing board. The function and purpose of the SAC is to involve stakeholders in decisions that affect instruction and the delivery of programs at the School.
