Examination Process. The City shall establish a test for Bilingual Differential. This test shall include a written and verbal certification, including translation, given by an individual or entity designated by the City. The Human Resources Department shall be responsible for overseeing the administration of the test and certifying test results. Eligible bargaining unit members may request to take the Bilingual Differential test by submitting a request in writing to the Human Resources Department. Within thirty (30) days of receiving such a request, the Human Resources Department shall decide, in its sole discretion, whether the employee is eligible for Bilingual Differential based on whether bilingual skills are essential to successful performance of the employee’s assigned job duties and shall issue notice if its decision to the employee. The decision of the Human Resources Department to arrange for testing shall be final. If the Human Resources Department approves an employee’s request for bilingual testing, the Department shall arrange for testing to be completed within thirty (30) days of the approval.
Examination Process. Applicants for promotion must successfully complete an examination process in order to be placed on a promotional eligibility list unless the number of applicants is three (3) or less and the Chief of Police deems that an examination is unnecessary to fill vacant positions. The examination process will be designed to measure the degree to which applicants possess skills needed at the higher rank. The weighting of each exercise in the promotional process shall be at the discretion of the Chief of Police and shall be indicated in the promotional announcement.
Examination Process. Examinations may consist of any method of evaluation to measure the capacities of the per- sons examined to execute the duties and responsibilities of the career classification to which they seek to be appointed. The probationary period shall be considered as a portion of the examination process.
Examination Process. The selection techniques used in the examination process shall be impartial and relate to those subjects that, in the opinion of the Human Resources Manager, fairly measure the relative capacities of the persons examined to execute the duties and responsibilities of the class to which they seek to be appointed. Examinations shall consist of selection techniques that will test fairly the qualifications of candidates such as, but not necessarily limited to, achievement and aptitude tests, other written tests, oral interviews, performance tests, physical agility tests, evaluation of daily work performance, work samples, pre- placement medical tests, psychological tests, successful completion of prescribed training, or any combination of these or other tests. The probationary period shall be considered as a portion of the examination process. Examinations shall be designed to provide equal opportunity to all candidates by being based on an analysis of the essential requirements of the classification, covering only factors related to such requirements.
Examination Process. The examination process for promotion for classifications covered by this Agreement shall consist of two (2) parts. The first part shall be a designated written examination, with the second part designated oral exam. The employee competing for a promotional opportunity must receive a passing grade on the written examination before proceeding on to the oral. Failure to achieve a passing grade on the written examination will eliminate the person from the further testing process of that exam. The Oral Examination Board for each vacancy shall be comprised of at least three persons, one of which shall not be an employee of the City. The oral examination portion of the final grade shall be an average of all the examiners' scores. A representative of the Michigan Association of Police may, at the option of the Union, be in attendance, as an observer, during the oral interviews. The results of both the written and the oral examination score shall be combined together to reach the total aggregate score. Employees shall receive one (1) point for each year of bargaining unit seniority, which shall be added to the total score of the written and oral examination. In no circumstances, however, will a person who has achieved a failing grade after the combined written and oral examinations have been averaged together, have seniority points added to their score.
Examination Process. (1) The examination process will be conducted by a professional consultant company which is selected by the City of Brentwood Human Resources Department as well as representatives of the Brentwood Police Department. Specific questions and testing processes will be developed and administered by the company selected, but will be approved by representatives of the City of Brentwood Human Resources Department as well as representatives of the Brentwood Police Department. Prior to making any changes to the established testing process, the City of Brentwood will meet and confer with the Brentwood Police Officers’ Association.
(2) The top five (5) highest scoring applicants, as determined by their final and exact composite scores on the examination process will be eligible to participate in Chief’s interviews.
(3) If the Police Chief determines there is a need to make a promotion, he/she will conduct interviews of the five (5) highest scoring applicants. After these interviews, the Chief will select applicants to be promoted from among the group which participated in the Chief’s interviews.

Examination Process. All examinations shall be designed to fairly and impartially assess the merit, fitness and experience of the applicant to perform the duties of the classification. The examination process shall consist of three (3) sections, each weighted equally:
a) a written examination; and
b) a tactical scenario; and
c) an overall assessment which shall include a Coaching/Counseling Session, a Critical Thinking Component and an Oral Board/Interview.
