FuneralsA regular employee may be released from duty for a period up to three days without reducing base earnings in the event of the death of a member of the immediate family including parent, parent-in-law, brother, brother-in- law, sister, sister-in-law, spouse, son, son-in-law, daughter, daughter-in-law, grand-parents, grandparents-in- law and grandchildren. In the event of the death of a fellow employee, a regular employee may be allowed time off with pay to attend the funeral. Usually the time required is less than one-half day. Regular part-time employees shall be granted the time off with pay if scheduled to work.
Funerals a. In accordance with (1) and (2) below, employees shall be allowed pay for absence from scheduled time because of death in their immediate family. Payment for such absent time shall consist of basic pay and any extra payments for night work which would otherwise have been received had the regular scheduled tour been worked. The term “imme- diate family” as used herein is defined as consisting of wife, husband, daughter, son, daughter-in-law, son-in-law, mother, father, mother-in-law, father-in-law, brother, sis- ter, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, grandmother, grandfather, grandson, granddaughter, stepmother, stepfather, stepson, stepdaughter, parent of employee’s dependent child, great- grandmother, great-grandfather, great-grandson, great- granddaughter, legally recognized partner, or any other relative living in the same household as the employee. (1) In the event of a death in the immediate family as noted in paragraph a. above, an employee will be allowed pay for absence from scheduled time, from the day of death through the day of the funeral, not to exceed three (3) days. (2) In the event of death of an employee’s wife, husband, daughter, son, mother, father, or legally recognized partner, an employee shall, upon the employee’s request, be excused from scheduled time up to an additional five (5) days. Paid individual days may be substituted for these excused days at the em- ployee’s option. b. Pay shall be allowed for necessary scheduled time lost, not to exceed one (1) day, to serve as an active pallbearer for a deceased employee or deceased retired employee, when requested to do so by the family of the deceased.
Funerals. One day leave shall be granted for attending funerals for persons other than in the immediate family.
Funerals. An employee shall be paid up to three (3) days at his/her basic wage rate for the necessary scheduled time absent due to the funeral of a member of the immediate family. The leave may not begin until the day of death, and not extend more than two (2) days beyond the day of the funeral. For purposes of this Section, immediate family shall mean spouse, legally recognized partner, children, sister, brother, mother, father, former legal guardian, stepparents, mother-in-law, father-in-law, daughter-in-law, son-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, grandmother, grandfather, grandson, granddaughter, stepson, stepdaughter, and parent of an employee’s dependent child. Payment for such absent time shall consist of basic pay which would otherwise have been received had the regular shift been worked. Pay for part-time employees will be pro-rated based on the ratio of their equivalent workweek compared to that of a full-time employee. In the event of the death of an employee’s wife, husband, daughter, son, mother, or father, or legally recognized partner, an employee shall, upon the employee’s request, be excused from scheduled time up to an additional five (5) days. An employee may request one (1) additional day without pay, if the funeral of any other member of the immediate family described above is held more than 200 miles from the employee’s home address. Paid individual days may be substituted for these excused days at the employee’s option.
Funerals. A maximum of three (3) teaching days without loss of salary or any other benefits in the Collective Agreement is allowed to attend the funeral of immediate next-of-kin only (parents or guardians, children, brothers, sisters, spouse [including same sex or common law], mother-in-law, father-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, grandparents, grandchildren, and sons or daughters-in-law). If more than three (3) consecutive teaching days are required to attend the funeral of immediate next of kin, the number of days in excess of three (3), where approved by the Director, shall be without loss of salary or any other benefits in the Collective Agreement. Attendance at funerals of other relations or close friends may be without loss of salary or any other benefits in the Collective Agreement, with the Director’s approval.

Any time not made up shall be charged to Personal Leave or Personal Business Leave if no other leaves are available.

Funerals. Up to two (2) uniformed State Highway Patrol employees in Bargaining Xxxx 0 may receive leave with pay to attend the funeral of State Highway Patrol Officers, State Police Officers, or other Law Enforcement Officers killed in the line of duty. No more than one (1) bargaining unit employee in Bargaining Unit 15 may receive leave with pay to attend the funeral of State Highway Patrol Sergeants, State Police Sergeants, or other Law Enforcement Officers killed in the line of duty. Such permission will not be unreasonably denied. No expenses associated with such leave will be paid by the Employer. Officers attending a funeral detail may drive a marked cruiser for funerals up to approximately eight (8) hours driving distance; the Employer will work to accommodate all reasonable Union requests. Additional bargaining unit employees may attend funerals as outlined above in an off-duty status, provided they are compliant with HPFP standards.
