Job Status and Function of Union Officers. 5.1 If mutually agreed upon, the xxxxxxx and/or alternate shall be paid by the Employer for time spent in the processing of grievances arising out of this Agreement during their regularly scheduled working hours, at their regularly scheduled rate of pay.
5.2 The Xxxxxxx and/or alternate shall be governed by established rules, regarding the handling of employee grievances and negotiations as are indicated in the grievance procedure.
5.3 Division Officers may absent themselves from their assigned work to handle Union business when arrangements are made as far in advance as possible by the Division Chairman or other authorized representative. This lost time to be paid for by the Local Union.
5.4 The names of the officers, xxxxxxx and alternate xxxxxxx shall be given in writing to the Employer, and no xxxxxxx or alternate shall function as such until the Employer has been advised of his selection in writing by the officers of the Local Union or Chairman of the Division or an International of Council Representative. Any changes in the xxxxxxx or alternate shall be reported to the Employer in writing as soon as practicable.
5.5 Executive Officers of the international Union or their representatives duly authorized to represent the Union, and/or the President of the Local Union, if not employed by the Employer, will be permitted to participate in meetings relative to hours, wages and working conditions and will be paid his regular rate for time spent in such meetings, for the hours he would have otherwise worked.
5.6 Any xxxxxxx or alternate having an individual grievance in connection with his own work, may ask for an Officer of the Division to assist him in adjusting the grievance.
Job Status and Function of Union Officers. Section 5.1 The names of Bargaining Committee and Grievance Committee persons and alternatives shall be given in writing to the Employer. Any changes in committee persons or alternates shall be reported to the Employer in writing as far in advance as possible.
Section 5.2 Duly authorized representatives of the Union and its respective affiliates shall be permitted to transact official Union business on Employer property at all reasonable times, upon notice to the Employer, provided that this shall not interfere with or interrupt normal operations of the College.
Sections 5.3 Any committee person, alternate or other officers of the Union employed by the Employer having an individual grievance in connection with her own work may ask for a committee person to assist her in adjusting a grievance in a manner provided for in the grievance procedure.
Section 5.4 The Employer shall provide released time from work, without loss of pay, as follows:
(a) Grievance Committee members shall be released for all grievance meetings jointly scheduled by the Employer and Union.
(b) Bargaining Committee members shall be released for all negotiating sessions jointly scheduled by the Employer and Union.
Section 5.5 A total of five (5) work days in any contract year may be taken by employees for Union business. Such days may be taken at the employee’s discretion without pay or with pay and then charged against vacation and upon five (5) days’ advance notice to the Employer.

B. The Union shall appoint representatives and alternates for this group. No representative or alternate, regardless of when selected, shall function as such until the Office of the Executive Director of Human Resources/Legal Affairs has been notified in writing by the president of the local union or the chairperson of the unit. Notice of the selection of representatives and alternates shall be given at the earliest possible date.
C. Representatives and their alternates and other Union officials shall be permitted to engage in contract negotiations and the adjustment of grievances subject to the limitations set forth in this Agreement.
D. Any representative or alternate having an individual grievance in connection with her/his own work may ask that another representative or alternate or union official assist her/him in adjusting the grievance with her/his supervisor.
E. Bargaining unit representatives will provide as much notice as possible to their supervisors of union business in which they will be engaged during scheduled work hours.

No representative or alternate, regardless of when selected, shall function as such until the Office of Human Resources/Legal Affairs has been notified in writing by the Coordinator or Divisional Vice President of the local union or the Chairperson of the unit. C. Representatives and their alternates and other Union officials shall be permitted to engage in contract negotiations and the investigation/adjustment of grievances subject to the limitations set forth in this Agreement. The union official shall complete and submit the Union Business form (Appendix J) to report his/her absence to the building administrator or designee, or if appropriate, to his/her supervisor. The reporting procedure is not meant to diminish any rights under this agreement.
D. Any representative or alternate having an individual grievance in connection with his/her own work may ask that another representative or alternate or Union official assist him/her in adjusting the grievance with his/her supervisor.

Whenever it is mutually agreed by both the Union and the Board that negotiations or other business be conducted during the normal work hours of a Union member involved, the Union member shall suffer no loss of pay.
