Student Illness. Students should not be sent to school with fever, vomiting, or diarrhea. Students who become ill at school will remain in the office while a parent/guardian is contacted. In order to avoid exposing other students to germs, students who are ill should be picked up immediately after parent notification. Students who have been sick may not return to school until they have been symptom free of fever, vomiting, or diarrhea for 24 hours without medication in order to prevent the spread of illness.

Student Illness. Whenever a child is sent home from school due to illness, the administration shall make effort to inform the appropriate teacher, or where applicable, the appropriate homeroom teacher. Any homeroom teacher so informed shall then inform all other teachers who would expect the child's attendance.

Student Illness. The nurse will decide when a child should be sent home for illness or injury. Parents should notify the nurse of any contagious disease or illness immediately. Students must be symptom free for twenty-four hours after fever (without the aid of fever-reducing medication such as Tylenol) before returning to school. The nurse should be informed of any health issue at the beginning of the school year. Current health forms are maintained in the nurse’s office. These forms must be on file at the start of the school year and are required before any student can participate in PE or go on field trips. Health forms must be updated annually. All students must have an up-to-date Alabama immunization certificate (Blue Card) before the beginning of the school year. If your child’s Alabama immunization certificate (Blue Card) has expired you must obtain a current one at your physician’s office or the Madison County Health Department, located at 000 Xxx Xxxxxx Drive – 000-000-0000. Failure to submit a current Alabama immunization certificate (Blue Card) could result in a delay or interruption of your child’s enrollment in school. Students should not return to school until they are symptom free for 24 hours without the use of Acetaminophen or Ibuprofen (Tylenol, Motrin, Advil, etc.). The following rules and expectations will be effective during the 2022-2023 school year. These rules and expectations are intended to ensure the health and safety of all students, staff members, and the overall community. Because of the fluid nature of viruses and other forms of illness, these rules and expectations are subject to change at any time. The District will send parents and students written notification of any such changes. It is each family’s responsibility to monitor for, understand, and adhere to any such changes, including those changes implemented on short notice. If a parent or student ever has any questions about the interpretation or implementation of these rules and expectations, the parent or student should promptly contact their building administrator.
