TUITION EXEMPTION. 15.1 Employees may participate in the University’s tuition exemption program as authorized by RCW 28B-15.558 and in accordance with guidelines approved by the Board of Regents. The following guidelines are applicable at the time of printing this contract, however, changes to the program may occur as a result of legislative action or guideline modifications made by the Board of Regents.
A. Employees must be regular monthly .5 FTE or more for six or more consecutive months.
B. The employee must be admitted as a student to the University.
C. The employee must pay a fee for each quarter enrolled when taking courses.
D. No more than six credits will be eligible for tuition exemption during the quarter in which the exemption is granted.
E. Participants are not eligible for student benefits.
F. Employees must secure approval of the supervisor for release time to attend course sessions, or make appropriate arrangements with the supervisor to reschedule work hours to accommodate course schedules.
15.2 Employees will be granted up to three (3) hours of paid release time per day, per shift, to attend course sessions to enhance professional development, subject to operation necessity. Employee will discuss course with supervisor and get approval prior to class starting. Uniformed officers will attend classes that are held during work time in uniform. Radios or cell phone will be taken to class and employee will respond when needed.
15.3 Understanding the essential nature of emergency services and subject to operational needs and management discretion, supervisors will make a good faith effort to allow the use of flex time for employees who wish to take a class during their scheduled shift.

TUITION EXEMPTION. A. The University will continue tuition exemption benefits contingent upon compliance with all existing requirements and conditions including, but not limited to, those which apply to employee eligibility. Effective January 1, 2013 for new hires: There will be a two-semester waiting period (administered as 7 months) for “self” and spouse/same sex domestic partner Tuition Exemption benefits eligibility. This waiting period represents two-semesters of continuous service.
TUITION EXEMPTION. The below referenced tuition exemption will be applicable to full time employees and their dependents and part time employees who work 20 hours or more. Eligible dependents must be enrolled in a Bachelor or Masters Degree program (no non-degree programs The University shall provide tuition exemption as follows after a two semester waiting period (administered as 7-months) for employees and spouses or same sex domestic partners. This includes degree and non-degree courses for employees and degree courses only for dependents.
A. The University shall continue for full-time regular employees in the bargaining unit the free tuition plan which provides seven (7) points of exemption for each of three semesters per year at Columbia University, with no limit on the number of courses each semester, within the allowance of seven (7) points, provided that, in the case of the summer semester, the University will retain the right to refuse to offer courses under this tuition exemption plan where such courses are deemed inappropriate or operationally inefficient by the University. Part time Employees working 20 or more hours will be eligible for tuition exemption as follows: Less than 1 year of employment=3 points per semester More than one year of employment =4 points per semester The Tuition Exemption Plan is described more fully in an announcement entitled, "Columbia University Tuition Plan".
B. If an employee who is laid off is enrolled in a course and is otherwise eligible for tuition exemption, such employee will be exempt from the payment of tuition for the balance of the semester.
C. The University shall provide tuition exemption as stated above in this Article of the Contract. This provision shall be expanded to include the spouse and dependent children of any full-time Supporting Staff Association bargaining unit member within the limitations set forth below:
(1) The spouse and children of any full-time Supporting Staff Association bargaining unit member shall be entitled to utilize any unused portion of credit to which the member is entitled under this Agreement, except that there shall be no accrual of any unused portion or credit.
(2) The spouse and children of any full-time Supporting Staff Association bargaining unit member shall be entitled to apply the member's unused portion of credit to any course, graduate or undergraduate, subject to the following modifications:
a. that the course be given by a department or school of the Columbia Corporation. Course...
TUITION EXEMPTION. 1. Children of certificated staff whose applications for admission have been received by August 15 will be allowed to enroll in the Canton City Schools without being required to pay tuition. Such students shall be assigned to their school building and class by the Superintendent or designee.

TUITION EXEMPTION. (a) A Member, their spouse and dependent(s) is (are) eligible for tuition exemption for grant eligible credit courses offered by Nipissing University. Dependent(s) is (are) defined as child(ren) of the Member for whom the Member is entitled to claim tax exemption under the Income Tax Act in the year in which the tuition exemption privilege is requested, or children not over the age of twenty-six (26) to whom the Member provides regular financial support.
(b) A student qualifying for tuition exemption for grant eligible credit courses must remain in good standing. In the event of loss of good standing, the same course(s) or an equivalent one(s), however, may be taken at the student’s expense in order to reinstate eligibility or good standing.
(c) A Member receiving benefits under the Long Term Disability Plan, their spouse and dependent(s), the spouse and dependent(s) of a Member who dies in service, and a member who retires from Nipissing University and their spouse
