Vacation Requests and Scheduling. In January of each year, or as otherwise agreed by the Local, the Employer shall post a notice suggesting all Employees submit, by February 1, requests for annual vacation for the period April 1 of the current year to March 31 of the following year. The Employer shall post a tentative vacation schedule for Employees who have indicated their choice for vacation. If an Employee’s request for annual vacation cannot be granted, the Employee shall have the right to submit a request indicating her next preference. Employees who do not request their vacation by September 1 of each year shall be advised in writing of any remaining hours that need to be scheduled. The Employer shall post a tentative vacation schedule for Employees who have indicated their choice for vacation. If an Employee’s request for annual vacation cannot be granted, the Employee shall have the right to submit a request indicating her next preference. Employees who do not request their vacation by November 1st of each year shall be advised in writing of any remaining hours that need to be scheduled. In the event the Employee’s vacation has not been scheduled by December 1st, the Employer and Employee shall meet to discuss and confirm her scheduled vacation. It is understood that forty (40) hours shall remain at the discretion of the Employee, subject to operational requirements. Criteria for scheduling and revising requests for annual vacation shall be mutually agreed between the Local of the Union and the Employer. Where the Local of the Union and the Employer are unable to agree to how vacations are granted, requests from Employees with the greatest seniority shall have priority. No later than May 1st, and where possible April 15th, the Employer shall post a confirmed vacation schedule for all Employees. Such vacation is confirmed, except in the event that an Employee with confirmed vacation displaces into a Unit, and the displacement results in the number of Employees with confirmed vacation exceeding the number allowed by current practice. In this event, if agreement is not achieved, the Employee(s) with least seniority will have her vacation rescheduled. Vacations not scheduled under the identified procedure shall be granted, in so far as the operational needs of the Employer permit, on a first come first served basis. These vacation requests shall receive an unequivocal response within ten (10) days of receiving the request or prior to the requested vacation, whichever is earlier and, if refused, written reason(s) shall be provided. Scheduled annual vacation once posted, shall only be changed by mutual consent between the Employee and Employer, except in extenuating circumstance.

Vacation Requests and Scheduling. Vacations will be granted at times most desired by the employees in order of their seniority within their work shifts and job classifications, but the final right as to the allotment and scheduling of vacation periods is reserved to the Company in order to assure the orderly operation of its business.   • Vacation Requests Regular employees become eligible for paid vacation leave once they have completed six (6) months of continuous employment. Vacations requests must be submitted by no later than January 31st to be scheduled for the vacation calendar year of April 1- March 31. Vacation time may be divided into blocks of one to two weeks in duration. Scheduling of vacation shall be in accordance with seniority within a classification. Where an employee chooses to split their vacation, they shall exercise seniority rights in the choice of the first vacation period. Seniority shall prevail in the choice of the second vacation period but only after all other first vacation periods have been selected. Remaining vacation periods will be scheduled in a fair and equitable manner amongst employees within a classification. The approved vacation schedule will be posted at the worksite on or before February 28th in each year. Employees will be limited to booking a maximum of two (2) consecutive weeks of vacation during prime vacation period (June 15 - September 15; and December 15 - January 5), unless further consecutive weeks would not interfere with the vacation preferences of less senior employees. The Employer will make every effort to accommodate requests for vacation of more than two (2) consecutive weeks outside of prime vacation periods. Employees failing to exercise their right to request vacation within the vacation selection time posted by the Employer will forfeit their seniority rights with respect to choice of vacation time. In such cases, the Employer reserves the right to schedule vacation time for the employee. A maximum of two (2) weeks of vacation time may be carried forward from one year to another. Employees who wish to carry vacation forward should notify the Employer by February 28th. If the employee has not requested all of their vacation leave, the Employer reserves the right to schedule the remaining vacation days within the last four (4) months of the calendar year. The Employer may also pay out unused vacation credits at the end of March each calendar year.

  • Weekend Scheduling It is the policy of the Employer to schedule those nurses who so desire every other weekend off, with the exception of those nurses who have signed an authorization to work consecutive weekends. Nurses who have volunteered to work consecutive weekends may withdraw such authorization upon two (2) weeks’ written notice prior to the date a new schedule must be posted.

  • Unit Weekend Schedule A unit weekend schedule may be developed in order to meet the Hospital’s need for weekend staff, and individual nurses’ preference for a weekend work schedule. A unit weekend schedule is defined as a schedule in which a full-time nurse works a weekly average of thirty (30) hours and is paid for 37.5 hours at her or his regular straight time hourly rate. The schedule must include two 11.25 hour tours, which fall within a weekend period as determined by the Hospital and the Association. A nurse working a weekend schedule will work every weekend except as provided for in the provisions below. If the Hospital and the Association agree to a unit weekend schedule, the introduction of that schedule and the manner in which the position(s) are filled, shall be determined by the local parties and recorded in the Appendix of Local Provisions. This unit schedule may be discontinued by either party with notice as determined within the Appendix of Local Provisions.
