Van Drivers. All permanent part-time van drivers will be eligible to utilize eight (8) days of personal leave/sick leave per year. A driver “day” is defined as the average route time for each route. The calculation is figured as an average between the Van Advisor time designated by the Transportation Manager’s time study and the actual time worked. This time is multiplied by (8) and rounded to the nearest ½ hour. The same calculation will be used to create holiday hours for drivers. The time is reevaluated each December by the Administrative Manager to ensure changes in routes are reflected in personal and holiday pay. Requests for time off shall be as provided in the Employee Handbook.
a. Personal leave/sick leave will accrue at 2 days on the 1st day of each quarter (Jan 1, Apr 1, July 1, Oct 1). Drivers will be permitted to draw Personal Time in advance of its accrual subject to deduction from the last check for anyone who has utilized Personal Time prior to having earned the time. In such event Personal time used but not accrued would be subject to repayment from the employee’s last check. After ten (10) years of service employees are no longer subject to the repayment of Personal Time if used in advance.
b. If a day is a personal leave day rather than a sick leave day, the employee will be requested to give reasonable notice of the request and receive permission to be absent that day.
c. There is no prohibition against a permanent part-time van driver designating a non-paid, non-working day as a paid day off pursuant to Article 18, section 7, provided however that the van driver continues to be responsible to secure his/her own substitute for sick days or days off. Van drivers must make request for time off thru the time clock and/or verbally call in for use of personal time when ill or needing the day off.
d. Van drivers may carry over up to four (4) personal leave days at the end of each calendar year.
Van Drivers. Van drivers/employee shall be assigned routes at the beginning of the school year with an emphasis on seniority and qualifications being assigned the routes with the most hours. Such driver must have the ability to assist students on and off the vehicle as well as give special care while in transport mode. Additions to routes shall be determined by the School District considering driver availability, route location, and seniority. Reductions to routes will be replaced by alternate assignments if practicable based upon the factors in additions to routes. Drivers assigned additional routes, not part of a regular route, shall be paid a minimum of one (1) hour. If a route is vacated after route assignments are done, or if a new route is established, it shall be posted via online application system and emailed to the xxxxxxx(s). For any position posted on a day that is a student contact day according to the district’s calendar, the position shall be posted for a minimum of two (2) working days. For any position posted on a day that is not a student contact day according to the district’s calendar, the position shall be posted for a minimum of five (5) working days. Any open positions in August will be posted for two (2) working days.
Van Drivers. When the School District has a need to transport a student or students on a casual, as-needed basis, the School District will first offer the position to bus drivers. Van hours are bid and assigned once per year through the regular rotation. Once bid, the driver is assigned the route for the entire year. Van hours count towards the accrual of insurance benefits and may result in changing eligibility within and between school years. If the position is not filled due to conflicts in schedules, or lack of applications, the School District will post the position. If the position is filled through the posting, the person hired will work on a casual, as needed basis, and only the following provisions of the Master Contract between the School District and Association will apply:
1. Wages pursuant to Addendum A, Addendum B, and Addendum C.
2. Holiday pay pursuant to Article 4, if scheduled to work the day before and the day after the holiday.
3. SERS “Pick-Up” pursuant to Article 7.
4. Mileage reimbursement pursuant to Article 11.
Van Drivers. Mechanic Department
Van Drivers. Within the Transportation Department, van drivers may be used for routes where a van is needed instead of bus. Regular routes, including van routes, will be awarded following the bid procedure outlined in this agreement (bus drivers will be able to bid on van routes). Van drivers will meet the requirements outlined by the State of Ohio.
Van Drivers. Van drivers will be paid for the hours that he/she is scheduled to work by the
Van Drivers. If the van driver reports to work as scheduled by the transportation supervisor and the van driver’s trip is canceled by the school district, then the van driver will receive the lessor of:
A. the amount of pay for that trip that he would have received if the trip had been driven, or
B. a minimum of two (2) hours of his/her hourly rate.
Van Drivers. A. Van Drivers will bid for routes according to seniority.
B. Modification – Increasing Time
i. When a route's daily bid average (DBA) increases by 30 minutes or more, on a consistent basis (5 consecutive) days, the District shall have five (5) working days to modify/restructure the route. If at the end of the 10-day period, the route has maintained an increase of 30 minutes DBA or more, the route will be posted and Van Drivers with greater seniority than the Van Driver of the affected route may exercise bumping rights. Notification of increased route shall be emailed to Van Drivers and posted for three (3) working days. Qualified Van Drivers with greater seniority than the Van Drivers of the affected route must submit the interest form to the supervisor, or designee, in person or via fax, by the posted deadline. The route shall be awarded to the Van Drivers with the greatest seniority. The route change will become effective as soon as possible, but no later than 5 working days following the posting deadline.
ii. When this occurs, the displaced Van Drivers will be assigned the route occupied by the least senior Van Drivers with the assigned route time closest to the previous assignment.
iii. The resulting bid time becomes the driver’s new initial bid time.
Van Drivers. (1) Effective July 1, 1999, Worcester Public Library employees at pay grade 21 (Librarian grade 1) who are assigned by the Library Director to substitute for Bookmobile Operators as van drivers, will be eligible to receive compensation at pay grade 24 for the actual hours worked when assigned to drive a van.
(2) The Library Director may require and assign such Worcester Public Library employees at pay grade 21 to substitute as van drivers for the Bookmobile Operators from time to time.
Van Drivers. Xxx Xxxxxxx, who are not assigned a bus route and who therefore are not required to have a CDL to perform the essential duties of their position, are subject to a different compensation schedule than the bus drivers who are required to have a CDL. Van drivers who are being paid under the current bus driver pay scale as of July 1, 2012, are grandfathered from this provision. If a van driver who does have a CDL is used as a sub driver, he or she will receive the then current bus driver hourly rate. Xxx Xxxxxxx, who are not grandfathered, will be paid at the No CDL/Training Rate as outlined in Appendix C. 42.8 Posting of Openings Open positions will be posted as follows:
A. Positions that become open that contain a regular run (4 hours (2 am and 2 pm) and an extra regular run, can be split and posted for current drivers to pick up an extra run and a regular run posted for any internal or external run. Extra runs need to fit within the driver’s current schedule.
B. All other, requirements as provided in the collective bargaining agreement.
