Acquiring Seniority. An employee subject to this Agreement, who has completed his probationary period of ninety (90) calendar days as of the effective date of this Agreement, shall have his name entered upon the seniority list for his job classification as of his last date of hire. An employee subject to this Agreement who has not completed his probationary period as of the effective date of this Agreement shall be a probationary employee without seniority until such employee has been employed for a total of ninety (90) calendar days, at the end of which period such employee’s name shall be entered upon the seniority list for his job classification in his department as of his last date of hire. Employees who have not completed their probationary period as of the effective date of this Agreement shall be given credit for actual days worked since the employee’s last date of hire for the purpose of determining the employee’s probationary period.

Acquiring Seniority. All employees shall have a probationary period of one (1) year. An employee subject to this Agreement who has completed his probationary period shall have his name entered upon the seniority list for his job classification as of his last date of hire. A. An employee subject to this Agreement who has not completed his probationary period as of the effective date of this Agreement and all new employees hired after the effective date of this Agreement shall be probationary employees without seniority until they have completed the probationary period. B. Except as hereinafter provided, a probationary employee may be laid off or terminated, without regard to any provisions of this Agreement and without recourse to the Grievance Procedure. A probationary employee with more than six (6) months, but less than one year’s service, who is given a disciplinary suspension or discharge may grieve his disciplinary suspension or discharge up to and including arbitration, provided, however, the scope of the arbitrator’s authority in an arbitration of such disciplinary suspension or discharge shall be confined and restricted to the following determination: Was the basis of the Sheriff’s decision to discipline, suspend, and/or discharge the employee arbitrary, capricious, or done in bad faith or for discriminatory purposes. An arbitrator shall only have the authority to rescind a disciplinary suspension and/or discharge if it is established that the Sheriff’s actions were based upon arbitrary, capricious, discriminatory, or bad faith reasons or motives. C. Temporary employees shall not acquire seniority. As used in this Agreement, a temporary employee is: 1. An employee who is hired for a specified period of time, not to exceed six (6) months in any one (1) year; or 2. An employee who is scheduled to work less than twenty (20) hours in a calendar week. 3. An agreement must be reached between both parties before temporary employees are hired.
Acquiring Seniority. An employee shall not have any seniority and shall be considered as a probationary employee until he has completed three (3) continuous months of employment with the Company. During such probationary period he will have no seniority rights. The discharge of a probationary employee shall be in the sole discretion of the Company. Upon completion of the probationary period an employee’s seniority will be backdated to the date of hire.
Acquiring Seniority. The employee's entry or re-entry date in the bus driver classification or substitute driver classification determines his/her respective seniority date in such classification. Employees will accumulate seniority in the classification and will continue to accrue seniority in the classification as long as they are employed in the occupation. Two (2) seniority lists shall be maintained, one for regular drivers and one for substitute drivers.
Acquiring Seniority a. An employee shall be considered on probation until he/she has worked a total of sixty (60) days or four hundred and eighty (480) hours within a twelve (12) month period. b. The Company has full right to discharge or layoff probationary employees. The Company may terminate an employee during the probation period and this action is not subject to the grievance procedure, except where matters of discrimination or harassment are alleged. On discharge, upon request a reason will be provided to the Plant Chairperson. On matters concerning working conditions, probationary employees shall be entitled to the assistance of the Union and have recourse to the Complaint and Grievance procedures, but this right shall not apply in a case of discharge or layoff. c. Seniority will be acquired after an employee has served the probationary period as outlined in Section 11, sub-section (a) and (b) and his/her name will appear on the seniority list. d. Seniority lists will be established on a plant-wide basis and will be issued January 1st., April 1st., July 1st., and October 1st., of each year". e. It is understood that, during the term of this Agreement, the provisions of the Seniority and other related clauses will be subject to change upon agreements between the Company and the Union.
Acquiring Seniority. All newly hired employees of the bargaining unit shall acquire seniority after a sixty (60) working day probationary period, and his/her District seniority shall be established as of the date on which he/she was hired by the District (hereinafter probationary period referred to as “date of hire”. During the sixty (60) working days his/her retention as an employee shall be entirely within the discretion of the District.
Acquiring Seniority. Newly hired employees shall not acquire seniority during their probation period as stated in Article 10(c). On successful completion of the probation period, employees shall be granted seniority effective their date of hire. Where this situation results in the same seniority date for two or more employees, total hours worked will then be used. The employee with the most hours worked in the probation period will be deemed the senior employee on that date of hire, with the remaining ranked according to their total hours worked. This will be identified on the seniority list. In the event the total hours worked does not break the tie, a coin toss or some other method satisfactory to the Union will determine the new seniority date for each remaining employee with the same seniority date. Employees who have the same seniority date and are on payroll as of January 1, 2011, will be able to use a coin toss to determine job selection.

Acquiring Seniority. When an employee acquires seniority, his/her name shall be placed on the seniority list for the bargaining unit in the order of his/her seniority. Any seniority date thus established for an employee is primarily for layoff and recall purposes and may or may not be identical to the employee's anniversary date or his/her date of continuous service dependent upon attendant circumstances.
