Annual Vacation Selection. Vacation sign-up books shall be provided at each facility for each shift prior to January 1 of each year. Selection of all vacation leave shall be done via seniority for the subsequent calendar year. NP-4 members shall be allowed to select their vacation time off on an individual day basis up to the amount of their annual vacation accrual as defined under Article 25, Section 1.
Annual Vacation Selection. Employees may begin using accrued vacation leave following six (6) months of service. Employees must have sufficient accrued vacation leave on the books to cover any requested vacation. Employees select vacation days each December for the subsequent calendar year based on seniority regardless of rank. Annual Vacation Selection. Association members shall select vacation dates on the basis of classification seniority within their respective Divisions, bureaus, Units, (etc.). Effective 1-01-99, a third vacation slot will be added to the Operations Division shift/platoon command vacation roster which will be specifically designated for Platoon Lieutenants. Sergeants will sign for the remaining two vacation slots. Neither rank will be allowed to sign for vacant vacation slots designated for the other rank. On dates when all three (3) available vacation slots are filled, no one will be permitted to take Holiday Leave time off if their resulting absence would result in overtime. Once the vacation schedule has been signed (first time through) the schedule shall again be circulated by classification seniority so that employees may sign for additional vacation days, including days still available during the months of June, July and August. Vacation requests submitted after the above process has been completed will be granted on a first-come, first-served basis.
Annual Vacation Selection. In January of each year, available vacation periods for the succeeding twelve (12) months shall be posted for two (2) weeks. Employees shall be allowed to select vacation periods on the basis of their respective seniority within each classification provided the request does not exceed the individual’s annual vacation accrual in-effect at the time of the vacation period selected. The exception to this limitation is when the employee is receiving Longevity Pay. In such cases, the employee may continue to select up to a maximum of six (6) vacation periods during the annual vacation selection provided the employee has the hours previously accrued. Notwithstanding the annual vacation selection, BPMA members may submit additional vacation requests at any time during the year after the initial sign-up. BPMA member vacation requests shall be approved provided there is an open - unfilled vacation slot available for the affected rank; Civilian Supervisor, Sergeant, and Lieutenant. Other vacation requests, which fall beyond open slots, will be considered on an individual basis based upon the needs of the Department. Requests for less than full weeks of guaranteed vacation shall be for at least three (3) days during a four (4) day workweek or four (4) days during a five (5) day workweek. Members may choose one additional day of vacation contiguous to each selected vacation period, respectively. This additional vacation day(s) shall be deemed part of the guaranteed vacation period(s). Once a vacation period is approved, it shall only be cancelled upon declaration of a legitimate District emergency by the Chief of Police. Members whose vacations are cancelled shall be entitled to reimbursement for all actual and reasonable uncovered expenses as provided for in Section 21.A. of the BPMA Agreement.

Annual Vacation Selection. Employees may request prior to February 15 the dates for that vacation year (February 15 through February 14 of the following year) on which they prefer to use their accumulated vacation. Employees may request first and second choices during this preference scheduling period and shall be notified by March 1 of the dates approved for vacation. Such requests shall be honored on the basis of bargaining unit seniority subject to the following limitations and exceptions: A. Vacation requests made during the February 15 to March 1 scheduling period shall be in minimum increments of two (2) working days. B. Vacation requests submitted after February 15 shall be awarded solely on the basis of order of application, and no seniority rights to preferred dates shall exist. Such vacation requests shall be submitted at least seven (7) calendar days prior to the posting of the next or affected work schedule. Nothing contained herein shall prohibit the parties from agreeing to waive the advance notice time periods described in this section on a non- precedent/non-grievable basis. C. Vacations are scheduled and approved in accordance with the workl o ad requirements of the Employer; however, the Employer shall maintain the right to deny such vacation request. D. An employee who has received approval of his vacation request, and is subsequently reassigned, shall not lose his right to that approved vacation period. E. Approval/disapproval for vacation leave shall be in writing to the employee within seven (7) calendar days from the submission of a request for vacation, if such request is made after February 15 of each calendar year. F. Vacation shall not be involuntarily scheduled.
Annual Vacation Selection. 1. Vacation leave may be taken anytime during the calendar year, with the approval of the Fire Chief. 2. Vacations may be pre-selected prior to the vacation year. Where vacations are pre-selected, such shall occur during an established pre-selection period. Pre- selection shall be based on seniority of the members by shift/division without regard for rank. Employees may elect to split vacations, but if vacations are split, no employee will be allowed a second leave period that will interfere with another employee's first choice, if selected during the pre-selection period. Once the pre-selection period has expired, remaining vacation time shall be selected on a first-come basis. 3. Annual vacation will be equalized through the year, so that adequate staffing can be maintained as determined by the Chief.

The following criteria shall apply when determining the shifts available:  No more than two (2) employees may select vacation leave on the same shift, unless approved by the Fire Chief or designee.  No more than one (1) Fire Officer may select vacation leave on the same shift, unless approved by the Fire Chief or designee.  No more than one (1) Driver Engineer may select vacation leave on the same shift, unless approved by the Fire Chief or designee.  No more than two (2) Fire Fighter/Paramedic or EMS Captains may select vacation leave on the same shift, unless approved by the Fire Chief or designee. Effective with the latter of the day the City has hired three new Firefighters during the 2020-2021 fiscal year or April 1, 2021, the following criteria shall apply:  No more than three (3) employees may select vacation leave on the same shift, unless approved by the Fire Chief or designee.  No more than one (1) Fire Officer may select vacation leave on the same shift, unless approved by the Fire Chief or designee.  No more than two (2) Driver Engineer may select vacation leave on the same shift, unless approved by the Fire Chief or designee.  No more than three (3) Firefighter/Paramedic or EMS Captains may select vacation leave on the same shift, unless approved by the Fire Chief or designee.
