Approved Leave During Vacation. Where an employee qualifies for sick leave, bereavement or any other approved leave during his vacation period, there shall be no deduction from vacation credits for such absence. For the employee to qualify for such sick leave, the employee must provide adequate medical evidence that supports his/her illness during his/her vacation period. The period of vacation so displaced shall, upon mutual agreement, either be added to the vacation period or be reinstated for use at a later date.

When an employee qualifies and is approved for sick leave, bereavement, or any other approved leave for pressing necessity (Article 17.3 and Appendix G) during their vacation, there shall be no deduction from their vacation credits for such absences. 13.7.3.1 An employee whose vacation leave is interrupted by illness or injury that requires hospitalization shall, upon request, have the period of hospitalization charged against available sick leave credits. The employee shall provide medical evidence of their hospitalization.
13.7.3.2 In certain circumstances, when an employee on vacation is incapacitated due to serious illness or injury (although not hospitalized), they may request that the time they were ill or injured be converted from vacation leave to sick leave. The employee shall provide medical documentation to substantiate the request. Conversion of Vacation Leave Conversion of vacation leave to sick leave shall be approved only by the Chief Executive Officer or their designate.
