Casual Relief Teachers. (a) A Casual Relief Teacher is a Casual Employee appointed on an ad hoc basis for up to and including 30 consecutive school days in the one school. A Casual Relief Teacher must be a registered Teacher with the Victorian Institute of Teaching. (b) After 30 consecutive school days of employment in the one school, and where the Employer wishes to extend the appointment, the Teacher shall be appointed as ongoing or, where permissible under clause 11.2(b), for a specified period of time. (c) A Casual Relief Teacher’s rate of pay and classification shall not be subject to clauses 55 to 59 inclusive. (d) A Casual Relief Teacher shall be paid one dollar more than the rate provided for a Level 5 Teacher under clause 17.5 of the Educational Services (Teachers) Award 2020, as varied from time to time, which is inclusive of a 25% loading. (e) A Casual Relief Teacher is entitled to have payments made into an approved superannuation fund in respect of all hours worked, in accordance with clause 43.5. (f) For each day on which a Casual Relief Teacher is employed, that Teacher shall be paid for three hours of work for the first three hours of work or part thereof, and at the hourly rate for each subsequent hour or part thereof to a maximum of the daily rate. The daily rate is calculated by multiplying the hourly rate by six hours. (g) A Casual Relief Teacher will be entitled to an unpaid lunch break of not less than 30 minutes free from duties. This break can be split into two separate breaks. A Casual Relief Teacher must be paid for school recess periods which fall during their hours of engagement.

Casual Relief Teachers. The Parties acknowledge the changing landscape relevant to the definition and related matters for casual Employees. As such, Hills College will observe the requirements of the National Employment Standards. Any such requirement in the National Employment Standards that is more beneficial to an Employee than as outlined below, shall be applied by Hills College as an administrative adjustment over and above this Enterprise Agreement. The parties otherwise agree that: A teacher employed on a casual basis is a Relief Teacher at Hills College. TOPIC DESCRIPTION A relief teacher shall not be engaged for a period greater than four (4) consecutive term weeks (maximum 20 working days) in any one engagement. A Relief Teacher engagement may be extended by agreement between the teacher and Hills College provided that the total period of the engagement: (a) Does not exceed one College term; or (b) A total of 10 consecutive weeks in any other case Notwithstanding the limitations imposed for each engagement, Hills College will not offer an advancement of continuous work. The Relief Teacher rate of pay is calculated by dividing the fortnightly rate of pay by 60 and applying the casual loading of 25%. A casual (relief teacher) will be employed and paid for a minimum period of half a day (3 hours). Casual (Relief) Teacher Rates Casual (Relief) Teacher Rate is prescribed at Schedule 3. This table sets out the casual relief teacher rate which includes the casual loading of 25%. Fixed Term Fixed Term contracts shall comply with Clause 3.13 of this Agreement and the requirements of the Act. Supplementary provision for Teachers are: Fixed Term Employee means an Employee who is employed to work full-time or part-time for a specified period which is usually not more than a full College year or less than four College weeks. A specific example of a situation that may require a fixed term contract of longer than 12 months or that may apply across 2 consecutive calendar years is if a Teacher is appointed to replace a Teacher who is approved to access Study Leave of up to 2 years. Fixed Term Teacher rates A fixed term teacher will be paid the relevant salary which is adjusted proportionately to the equivalent full-time teacher’s salary.

Casual Relief Teachers. ‌ 32.1 Casual relief teachers will not be expected to perform duties outside the hours of the ordinary program of the school at which they are employed. 32.2 A rate equivalent to three hours pay will be payable to casual relief teachers who are advised that their services are not required after a firm booking unless notice is given twenty four hours prior. 32.3 When a casual relief teacher attends for less than the normal school day the teacher will receive 1/6th of the appropriate daily rate for each hour or pro rata hour of attendance. 32.4 When a school decides for professional reasons that the services of a casual relief teacher are no longer required, the School Principal will provide counselling to the casual relief teacher. (a) To retain their eligibility for the pre 1996 Agreement Preserved Rates as contained in Schedule B, casual teachers will be required to work on a minimum of 50 days per school year. (b) Casual teachers not eligible for the pre August 1996 preserved structure will be paid according to the rates in Schedule B. The relevant provisions of Package 4, paragraph 1 of the 1996 EBA will continue to apply. (c) Periods of employment on a temporary contract basis or as a part time teacher will be counted towards this 50 day minimum. This new arrangement will commence from 1 January 2001.
