Eligibility and Benefits. The Employer contributions paid under the provisions of this Article shall be used to provide health and welfare and related benefits for both active and retired participants. The eligibility rules and the level and nature of benefits shall be determined from time to time by the Trustees of the Health and Welfare Trust. Eligibility, benefit levels and the nature of such benefits applicable to active regulars, preferential casuals, non-preferential casuals and retirees may differ. The retirees benefit shall be funded, in part, effective September 1, 1998, by the dedication of not less than sixty six dollars ($66.00) of the Employer contribution paid on behalf of each regular employee as provided in Section 1(a) above. This amount may be increased annually at the direction of the negotiating committee. Retirees who elect to participate in the retirees program shall be required to participate in the cost of retirees benefits by making self payments to the Trust. The amounts of such retiree self payments shall be determined by the Trustees and may be modified from time to time when necessary to adequately fund and maintain retiree benefits at levels as determined by the Trustees. In the event adverse claims experience would otherwise require a reduction or elimination of any benefit program for active regular employees during the term of this Agreement, the Employer contributions, as set forth in Section 1(a) above, may be increased in such amounts and at such times as the Trustees may determine to be necessary to maintain the benefit programs for active regulars. This provision shall not prohibit or deter the Trustees from making changes in the benefit programs, including comprehensive major medical deductibles, cost containment features, and eligibility periods as the Trustees may determine to be in the best interests of the participants and the long term continuation of the program.

Retirees who elect to participate in the retirees program shall be required to participate in the cost of retiree's benefits by making' self-payments to the Trust. The amounts of such retiree self-payments shall be determined by the Trustees and may be modified from time-to-time when necessary to adequately fund and maintain retiree benefits at levels determined by the Trustees. The amount of the retirees self pay shall be funded, in part, through a benefit provided through a Voluntary Employee Benefit Association (VEBA) as provided in Section 3 below. In the event adverse claims experience would otherwise require a reduction or elimination of any benefit program for active regular employees during the term of this Agreement, the Local Union and the Employer will meet to determine whether benefit levels should be adjusted or whether employees will be required to participate in paying for the premium necessary to continue the existing level of benefits. This provision shall not prohibit or deter the Trustees from making changes in the benefit programs including comprehensive major medical, deductibles, cost containment features, and eligibility periods as the Trustees may determine to be in the best interests of the participants and the long term continuation of the program. Eligibility and Benefits. (a) An employee who has completed his/her probationary period is eligible for one (1) day of sick leave earned at the rate of the said day for each full month of continuous service retroactive to his/her date of hire, but not to exceed a total of ten (10) days for any one (1) year.
(b) Unused sick leave may be accumulated without maximum.
(c) No sick leave will be paid to an employee who is absent as a result of injury or illness while working for another employer.
Eligibility and Benefits. 2.1 An Eligible Employee shall be notified by the Company of his or her eligibility to receive benefits under this Plan and shall be provided with a copy of the Plan which shall be signed by the Eligible Employee and which shall specify the Eligible Employee’s Benefit Service Start Date.
2.2 Subject to the terms and conditions contained in this Plan, an Eligible Employee shall be entitled to receive Alternative Pension Benefits as described in Article III of the Plan, Supplemental Pension Benefits as described in Article IV of the Plan, and Supplemental Retiree Medical Benefits as described in Article V of the Plan.

Eligibility and Benefits. (a) Eligible employees will include those employed on regular full-time or part-time status (regularly scheduled a minimum 30 hours per week) who have completed their initial probationary period. Temporary and casual employees are not eligible.
(b) Eligible educational courses include classes of study which are related to or support the employee's job abilities in his or her current position or another position for which the employee might become eligible at Greater Regional Medical Center.
(c) Requests for educational assistance shall be submitted for approval by the Department Director and the Administrative Staff.
(d) Approval of a request will depend on the nature of the requested course of study, the relationship between the course of study and the employee's position or prospective position of employment, the cost/amount of assistance requested, the number of requests for a specific area of study at any given time, and the overall budget dollars available for this program at any given time.
(e) In most instances, employees whose applications are approved will be reimbursed at 50 percent of approved Covered Costs upon approval, and 50 percent upon proof of successful completion of the educational course with a grade of "C" or better. Receipts must be provided, and the employee will be required to sign an agreement to repay the entire amount of the reimbursement received if the employee should fail to pass with a grade of "C" or better, or should voluntarily reduce his or her hours to less than part-time or voluntarily leave employment with Greater Regional Medical Center within less than a 12-month period after completion of the course.
(f) Employees are required to submit the request for assistance and receive approval prior to the beginning of the educational course.
(g) Employees must try to schedule educational courses outside of their regular work schedule. In rare instances, supervisors may be able to work around an employee's class schedule. This Plan does not provide for employees to receive pay for time spent in educational courses.
