Emergency Absence. In the event of a personal emergency, such as sudden notification of a serious family illness, which prevents the application for leave to be made in writing, the employee shall make every effort to personally advise the University, or shall have the University advised, of the reasons for an emergency absence, which the employee wishes to have treated as such leave.
Emergency Absence. 01. In the event of sudden illness, accident or other emergency, an employee absenting himself must contact the departmental xxxxxxx or leader on duty, either directly or through Security, as soon as possible. Bona fide cases of emergency will be treated as if permission had been sought in advance.
02. Following notification that an employee is serving a sentence under the law, the case will be dealt with as if the employee had asked for permission in advance, and the Company and the Union will endeavour to reach a mutually satisfactory agreement on what action should be taken.
Emergency Absence. If an employee is unable to report for duty because of illness or another justifiable reason, that employee shall make one phone call notifying either the building principal or sub call-in service, at the District’s discretion no later than 6:00 a.m., unless an emergency arises and it is impossible for the employee to give such notice.
Emergency Absence. 1. Emergency Absence due to illness in family shall be at the discretion of the Superintendent who may allow up to one (1) day's absence without salary deduction. Leave (1 day per year) that is not used during the period of July 1 to June 30 during a given year shall be credited to cumulative sick leave for personal illness on July 1 of the following year.
Emergency Absence. Each employee shall be entitled to three (3) non- cumulative days of emergency absence per year for hardships or other pressing needs as may be granted in cases requiring absences during working hours for purposes other than provided in other sections under this article. Emergency absences may be granted to employees under the jurisdiction of this bargaining unit subject to the following conditions and procedures:
1. The situation must be suddenly precipitated or must be of such a nature that pre- planning is not possible, or that such pre-planning could not have eliminated the need for the absence.
2. The situation must be one which is serious and unavoidable and of major importance, not one of mere convenience.
3. The employee must complete an absence report upon his/her return and submit it to his/her immediate supervisor for signature. The immediate supervisor will forward the report to the Business Office.
4. The employee must give notice of such absence to his/her immediate supervisor in advance if possible.
5. Any days taken under this section shall be; a) made up by preauthorized arrangement(s) agreed to by the employee's immediate supervisor, b) deducted from sick leave, or c) unpaid.
Emergency Absence. At times it may be necessary for a bargaining unit member to request time off in order to take care of personal affairs that cannot be postponed. Such absences involve emergencies, business or family affairs, health needs, or crises. A request shall be made, in writing, stating the reason for such request and length of time required. It is to be submitted to the staff member’s immediate supervisor as early as possible prior to the time the absence is requested. For bargaining unit members working in local districts, a phone call to the supervisor will suffice with the request form submitted as soon as possible thereafter.
1. These absences shall not exceed two (2) hours in length and may not be used in conjunction with any other type of absence.
2. Emergency absences shall not be deducted from allowances made for other forms of absence.
3. Emergency absences shall not exceed a maximum of four (4) two hour periods per school year.
4. Only one (1) such request may be used on any one (1) day.
5. Final approval, or disapproval, shall rest entirely with the immediate supervisor.
6. As much as possible, these absences will be scheduled during the bargaining unit member’s planning period.

In the event of an emergency necessitating an absence, an employee may contact his/her supervisor or another member of administration the evening before or prior to 8:30 a.m. on the date of the absence to report the need for the absence. If the employee is unable to speak directly with the supervisor or other member of administration, the employee may leave a text/voice message and must follow up with the supervisor/member of administration as soon as possible. In emergency situations, the supervisor/administrator will notify the receptionist of the absence. If the emergency reporting procedures are not followed, the employee must follow the non-emergency reporting procedures.
Emergency Absence. At times it may be necessary for a bargaining unit member to request time off in order to take care of personal affairs that cannot be postponed. Such absences involve emergencies, business or family affairs, health needs, or crises.
1. Emergency absences shall not exceed a maximum total of four hours per school year.
2. These absences may be taken in thirty (30) minute increments and may not be used in conjunction with any other type of absence.
3. Emergency absences shall not be deducted from allowances made for other forms of absence.
4. Emergency absences must be taken during non-student contact time.
5. Final approval, or disapproval, shall rest entirely with the immediate supervisor.
Emergency Absence. 18.1 For absences caused by inability to reach school because of flood, storm, or such acts of God, the employee shall expect no penalty for up to five (5) days when the absence is approved by the District.
18.2 When weather conditions make it necessary to close school, all twelve (12) month classified employees will report to work unless they are excused from work by their immediate supervisor. All other classified employees have the option to report to work however they will not receive compensation for the day unless they report and perform work.
18.2.1 If any bus drivers or cooks are already on the job at the time of the notification of closure, they will be paid for the time already on the job with the minimum of two (2) hours.
18.2.2 In the event of a delayed school day, all classified employees, except those listed in 18.2, shall report to work at the delayed opening time of the school. As in 18.2 above, employees arriving late because of the delayed opening will only be paid for actual hours worked.
18.3 The District may require all employees to work any additional days the Board reschedules as a result of school closures. Makeup days for days missed during emergency closure may be scheduled at any time during the school year or at the end of the school year, when the District gives notice of at least sixty (60) calendar days. Employees shall receive compensation for the hours worked on the makeup day. If the District schedules any makeup days, an employee may request at least thirty (30) days in advance not to report for work on one or more of the makeup day(s) due to extenuating circumstances. Requests for release shall be granted or denied by the superintendent or designee at their discretion.
