Essential Employees. Every employee designated as “essential,” shall receive notice of such designation each year, by October 31, in accordance with N.J.A.C. 4A:6-2. Notice of such designations will also be provided to the Union.

Procedures for Delayed Opening, Early Dismissal and Closing Due to Inclement Weather An Essential Employee is an employee of who has been designated as being vital to the College’s operation, whose presence is required regardless of the existence of an emergency condition, and whose absence from duty could endanger the safety and wellbeing of the campus population and/or physical plant. Examples of such employees are police, stationary engineers or other heating plant and maintenance personnel and snow removal employees.
2. Employees deemed “essential” may be required to report to work even though a decision has been made to close the College or delay its opening.
3. Each department is responsible for establishing and notifying which employees or class (es) of employees are considered essential and for establishing the conditions under which employees must report.
Essential Employees. Any employee who is designated by management as an Essential Employee and is required to report to work when the Mayor or his designee announces a Citywide closure and directs non-essential employees to stay home, will be compensated with one deferred holiday for every full shift they work during such an event. The deferred holiday will be equal to the number of hours the essential employee was regularly scheduled to work on the day of the event.
9.12.1 Employees whose deferred holiday bank is full, will be given the equivalent time in pay. Employees who earn a deferred holiday within 30 days of the end of the calendar year will be allowed to carry over said holiday to the subsequent year’s deferred holiday bank.
Essential Employees. (a) When an employee is required to physically report to work despite the Governor (designee) ordering a closing of some or all of that employee’s normal shift, the following shall apply: In addition to any overtime involving the shift, the employee shall receive straight compensatory time, in addition to the employee’s regular pay, for the hours worked during the employee’s normal shift when the State has been ordered closed.
(b) When an essential employee is not afforded the opportunity to decline telework on a closure day that falls on a non-telework day, said essential employee will be treated as if he or she were required to physically report to work.
Essential Employees. Employees who are designated as Essential Employees and are performing emergency related duties (Storm Assignment) during a declared emergency.
Essential Employees. (a) For purposes of this Article, essential employees are employees who cannot perform their core job duties from a remote work location.
(b) The Agency shall maintain a list(s) of essential employees for inclement weather and hazardous conditions. Essential employees shall be notified of this designation no later than November 1 of each year or upon hire. Such designations may be modified with two (2) weeks advance notice to the affected employee(s).
(c) Essential employees who are required to report to work by the Employer/Agency shall be in leave without pay status if absent, unless otherwise on authorized leave. If an employee shows up within two (2) hours of their scheduled shift, subject to operating requirements and supervisory approval, they may make up the work time missed during the same workweek, provided work is available.
Essential Employees. Employees who are designated essential for inclement weather or other emergencies and/or are emergency response employees for COOP purposes, must have signed telework agreements in place to facilitate continuity of operations in the event of emergencies.
Essential Employees. These employees will be subject to the following:
(1) Essential Employees will be required by JEA to work during the declared emergency. Management may consider volunteers when possible.
(2) To the maximum extent possible, when the general population is being required to evacuate an area in anticipation of a hurricane, tropical storm, or similar circumstances where there is advance notice of a situation that is expected to create an emergency, JEA shall allow Essential Employees reasonable time, as determined by JEA, to return to their residence, secure the residence, and make plans for the safety of their family. To the extent that reasonable time falls during the employee’s regular schedule, they will lose no time thereby. After allowing a reasonable time for such activities, as determined by JEA, Essential Employees shall be required to report back to work during the emergency.
(3) Essential Employees shall be compensated at the premium rate of two (2) times the rate of their regular pay for all time actually worked on Storm Assignment. In addition, these employees will be paid straight time hourly pay for the time that they would have been on administrative leave with pay if they had been designated a Non-essential Employee (i.e., any normally scheduled hours). The maximum amount payable under this provision is forty (40) hours per work week, and it only includes periods during which JEA has any Non-essential Employees relieved of duty, not when all Non-essential Employees are performing “Blue Skies Assignments”
(4) During an emergency, Essential Employees who are required to report for work will be provided with meals or meal vouchers.
Essential Employees. Within thirty (30) days of the ratification of this Agreement, a committee of an equal number of representatives of the City and the Union shall meet with the Managing Director to discuss issues relating to the use, discipline, designation and compensation of essential employees.
