Extra Pay for Extra Duties. A. An Extra Duty shall be defined as an official, school-sanctioned activity which requires a teacher to work beyond the contractual school day in an area which is not an integral part of the teacher's regular instructional responsibilities. This Article does not include part-time administrative assignments.
B. Qualified and interested staff members shall be encouraged to apply for extra duty assignments. All extra duty positions for the coming school year shall be posted by the end of the previous school year and as vacancies occur. Every effort will be made to select the best staff member for each position. If no qualified teaching staff member is available, personnel may be sought outside staff personnel. The final decision will be made by the building principal, subject to approval of the Superintendent of Schools. The Congress must be notified in the event that an extra pay position has been abolished or is not being filled.
C. If for any reason a teacher cannot complete an extra duty assignment, he or she shall be paid a pro rata share for the portion of the assignment completed. The replacement who completes the assignment shall be paid proportionately. In no case shall the total amount exceed the amount allocated for the position.
D. From time to time application is made to the building principals for approval of new activities. The application, when received by the Superintendent, will be discussed with the Congress, and the appropriate rate of compensation will be determined.
E. Activities
Extra Pay for Extra Duties. The Board shall grant extra pay to those who are selected by the Board to perform the following extra assignments. Compensation shall be based on either a fixed amount or the percentage relationship to the current basic salary. This supplementary salary shall be paid upon the successful completion of the activity. These assignments are one (1) year non-tenure appointments.
Extra Pay for Extra Duties. Extra activities for which an employee, SUCCESS employee or sign language interpreter may receive extra pay will be assigned on an individual basis between the employee, SUCCESS employee or sign language interpreter to perform the service and the Employer. No such assignment shall exceed duration of one year. An employee, SUCCESS employee or sign language interpreter assigned extra duties will be paid on the schedule of Supplemental Pay for Extra Duties as set forth in Appendix 2 which is attached hereto and incorporated into this Agreement. As a condition for receipt of extra pay, an employee, SUCCESS employee or sign language interpreter shall be expected to provide service to fulfill all job responsibilities associate with assigned extra duties.
Extra Pay for Extra Duties. The District shall grant extra pay to those who are selected by the Superintendent of Schools and are approved by the District to perform the following extra curricular (beyond the school day) duties. The method of applying percentages is:
Extra Pay for Extra Duties. It is agreed that certain functions require time that is beyond that which is customary for teachers. Extra compensation for such functions will be made under the following conditions:
1. All assignments shall be voluntary. If a volunteer is not available, and the principal is unable to secure a volunteer from within the county schools, the Board may assign a teacher for a period not to exceed the respective school year. There shall be a conference with the assigned teacher prior to the effective date of the assignment.
2. Teachers interested in volunteering for extra pay for extra duty activities are required to receive permission from their Supervisor/Principal and indicate their intentions, in writing, to the Superintendent or his/her designee by May 1 of each school year.
3. Proposed changes in types of activities or the number of teachers assigned should be included in the regular school budget proposal as presented by the principal in the school year preceding the change. Otherwise, the list as shown in 12.2 will prevail. The specific activities and the number of teachers assigned to each activity in each school shall be determined by the Board.
4. Payment will be made in one lump sum for each activity. Such payment will be made on the second pay date following receipt of verification from the school principal that the activity has been completed.
5. Teachers who serve as coaches and assistant coaches outside the regularly assigned building may be allowed to leave the building at the end of the student day to fulfill their contractual obligations as coaches, at the principal’s discretion. Substitute costs shall be the responsibility of the school where the teacher is coaching.
6. There is no tenure for extra duty assignments.
7. Extra duty assignments shall not be tied to classroom observations or evaluations, except for those programs which are a direct outgrowth of classroom activities and the teacher is compensated for coordinating and supervising the activity.
Extra Pay for Extra Duties. The athletics and extra-curricular salary guides are attached at the end of this agreement as Schedule B.

Extra activities for which an employee may receive extra pay will be assigned on an 563 individual basis between the employee to perform the service and the Employer. Extra Pay for Extra Duties. 31:1. Teacher's participation outside the normal teaching day in such activities as development of remedial programs, promoting and advertising student clubs and activities, assisting at social functions, games, and educational trips, will, insofar as possible, be equalized and assigned on a rotational basis among the teachers, including part-timers, who can appropriately handle them. Attempts will also be made to have parents participate wherever feasible.
31:2. Coaching and extra-curricular duties requiring at least forty hours per school year outside of normal teaching hours shall be offered first to qualified teachers employed under this contract. If no qualified teacher wishes to supervise an activity, the Administrator may negotiate fees with qualified person(s) without regard to the following schedule of compensation, or may let the activity lapse. Activities requiring 20 to 40 hours of outside work shall be pro-rated if the activity has received prior approval from the Administrator. At the start of each school year or activity season, these duties shall again be offered to all qualified members of the bargaining unit. Extra Pay for Extra Duties. 36.1. Extra duty shall be paid and the amounts of such compensation are set forth in Appendix C, which is hereto attached and made a part of this Agreement.
36.2. Participation in extra duty for which compensation is paid shall be voluntary.
36.3. The Board shall have the right to use person(s) other than teachers to perform any Athletics or Intramural or other extra-curricular activities set forth in Appendix C. This right includes the Board’s right to hire the most qualified applicant for any opening.
