The Extra Duty Pay clause establishes the conditions under which employees receive additional compensation for performing work beyond their regular duties or outside standard working hours. Typically, this clause outlines the types of extra duties eligible for supplemental pay, such as supervising after-school activities, covering additional shifts, or taking on special assignments, and specifies the rates or calculation methods for such payments. Its core practical function is to ensure fair compensation for extra work, thereby incentivizing employees to take on additional responsibilities and clarifying payment expectations for both parties.

1. Extra-duty shall be defined as any assignment which extends beyond the normal duty day, involves direct and continued teaching and supervision of students, and which is apart from normal teaching duties.
2. No compensation will be paid for any of the activities listed in Appendix C unless the teacher spends a minimum of fifty (50) hours outside the school day teaching and/or supervising students.
3. As extra-duty activities are an integral part of education, the following criteria shall be utilized to insure a high standard of performance:
a. Principals shall strive to distribute extra-duty assignments equitably among their staff.
b. Principals shall inform their teachers of all school activities and encourage them to participate.
c. Principals shall strive not to assign a teacher more than one extra-duty assignment as defined herein.
d. A principal shall hold a conference with a teacher prior to making an extra-duty assignment.
e. No teacher shall be given full payment for two or more activities that are conducted at the same time each day with the exception of high school athletic directors. Arrangements for partial remuneration must be made beforehand and with the approval of the Superintendent.
4. Participation in extra-duty activities shall be on a volunteer basis.
5. Extra-duty shall be based upon the number of times the product of the extra-duty teacher's efforts is exhibited (i.e. athletic event, dramatic performance, musical, band performance, parade, concert). The minimum number of events and the county-wide monetary value of each event shall be jointly established by the Board and the Association and approved by each party. The maximum amount to be paid shall be that shown in Appendix C.
Extra Duty Pay. Teachers assigned to teaching or administrative duties during planning periods shall be compensated at per diem pay for such duty. Curriculum rate, beyond per diem days, shall be compensated at $35.00 per hour.
Extra Duty Pay. An hourly extra duty pay of .001 X ▇▇▇ base salary per hour will be paid for employee hours involved in the following District-approved activities that occur after the regular contract work day with the prior approval of the appropriate administrator. Examples of such extra duty assignments are:
Extra Duty Pay. The District will pay unit members, if assigned to extra-duty activities, as set forth in Appendix "C." Such compensation will be paid only upon completion of all assigned activities as verified by the immediate supervisor.
Extra Duty Pay. For extra duties required by the Board of Education, teachers will be paid at the rate specified in Appendix “C”. For Board Committees, Agencies, or Commissions on which teachers are required to participate, released time will be provided, or the teachers will be paid at the rate specified in Appendix “C”.

Extra Duty Pay. Teachers assigned extra duties shall be paid in addition to their basic salary not to exceed the amount or amounts stipulated herein. The stipend includes pay for services rendered before school starts, during vacation periods, and after school closes according to the assignment of the school employers. A teacher’s appointment to an extra duty assignment(s) shall be on a year-to-year basis at the sole discretion of the school employer and not subject to the grievance procedure. The pay listings are in Appendix B.
Extra Duty Pay. A years experience shall mean extra-duty activity. Credit for up to two (2) years. Extra Duty Pay. An employee who is assigned extracurricular duty shall be paid according to Schedules B which is attached to this agreement.
