Funeral Pay. An employee who is excused from work because of the death of a member of his/her immediate family, shall be paid at base hourly rate for time missed up to a maximum of three (3) consecutive scheduled twelve (12) hour work days. Immediate family is defined in the contract.
Funeral Pay.
A) A regular full time employee shall be granted three (3) days funeral pay to arrange for and/or attend a funeral or memorial service, of a member of an employee's immediate family. For the purpose of this section an employee's immediate family shall include father, mother, brother, sister, spouse, child, mother-in-law, father-in-law, daughter-in-law, son-in-law, stepmother, stepfather, stepchild, grandmother, grandfather, grandchild or any other relative residing in the household of the employee. In the event the third day of such period of mourning falls on Saturday, Sunday or recognized holiday, then the employee shall be allowed the first scheduled work day thereafter. Should a death or burial in the immediate family occur in a city located more than one hundred fifty (150) miles from Toledo, an additional two (2) days of funeral pay for travel shall be granted and paid.
B) In the event of the death of the employee's father, mother, brother, sister, spouse, or child, the employee, upon giving notice, shall have the right to take up to an additional three (3) days of sick pay. Such additional time shall be charged to the employee's accumulated sick days, but shall not be deducted from the bonus days schedule.
C) An employee may take one (1) or two (2) days to attend the funeral or memorial service and reserve a day to attend to legal matters made necessary by the death, but such time provided herein shall be taken within three (3) months after the date of death. This benefit shall also be extended when the relative is a veteran being returned for burial.
D) One day of funeral pay shall be granted to attend the funeral or memorial service of the employee's xxxxxx mother, xxxxxx father, aunt, uncle, first cousin, xxxxx, nephew, sister-in-law, and brother-in-law, xxxxxx's grandmother, spouse's grandfather, if such funeral occurs on a regular work day and if such employee was scheduled to work that day.
E) Where a special filial relationship exists between the employee and any relative for whom the employee would normally be granted one (1) day of funeral pay, three (3) days funeral pay will be granted upon the furnishing of an affidavit to the division level, such affidavit proving the existence of a special filial relationship. A filial relationship is defined as being one in which the employee bears or assumes a relationship with another individual similar to that of child, offspring, or parent.

For the purpose of this section, the term "a member of the immediate family" shall be defined as and be limited to the following: spouse, children, stepchildren, parents, stepparents, grandparents, grandchildren, brothers, stepbrothers, sisters, stepsisters, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, parents-in-law of the employee, grandparents-in- law, and, if they reside in the employee's household, other dependent relatives.

Funeral Pay. (a) An employee shall be permitted time off work with regular pay for the purpose of arranging and/or attending the funeral of a spouse, common-law- spouse, same-sex partner, son, daughter, step-children, mother, father, guardian or step-parent up to a maximum of four (4) working days.
(b) An employee shall be permitted time off work with regular pay for the purpose of arranging and/or attending the funeral of a member of his/her immediate family, up to a maximum of three (3) working days.
14.02 Immediate family shall mean sister, brother, father-in-law, mother-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, grandmother, grandfather, grandchild, and parents of common-law spouse.
14.03 The Employer will consider allowing additional time off work without pay if requested by the employee.
14.04 Where the funeral of the deceased is more than 1000 km. away, the employee shall allow one (1) extra day beyond the date of the funeral for return travel and such extra day shall be leave of absence without pay.
Funeral Pay. SECTION 1. An Employee who requests to be absent from work to attend a funeral and conduct family business in the death of a member of the immediate family shall be granted up to five (5) days off. The last three days of funeral leave shall be deducted from sick leave accumulation. The first two (2) days of funeral leave shall be paid for by the City. In the event that additional time off is needed, the City may grant the additional time needed and deduct that time from the member's sick leave accumulation.
SECTION 2. Immediate family shall be defined and specifically limited to: spouse, child, mother, father, xxxxxx parent or guardian, brother, sister, grandparent, grandchild, father-in-law, mother-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandfather-in-law, grandmother-in-law, stepfather, stepmother, stepsister, stepbrother, stepson, stepdaughter, half-brother, half-sister.
Funeral Pay. In the event of a death in an employee’s immediate family, the employee will be allowed up to three days leave with pay for the time actually lost. Immediate family members are defined as including the employee’s children (including step and adopted), father, mother, current spouse, brother, sister, father-in-law, mother-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, great grandparents, Great grandparents-in-law, grandparents, grandparents-in-law and grandchildren. These days will not be deducted from sick pay. Employees must notify their immediate supervisor of the death, relationship to the deceased and expected time of absence. Any additional time off beyond three days will be granted at the sole discretion of the Sheriff or his designee and will be deducted from the employee’s unused vacation time or may be taken as holiday time to which the employee is otherwise entitled.
Funeral Pay. For the purpose of this section, the term “immediate family” shall be defined as, and limited to, the following: spouse, children, stepchildren, brothers, half brothers, sisters, half sisters, parents, stepparents, parents-in-law, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, grandparents, grandparents of the employee’s spouse, grandchildren. In addition, persons who acted in “loco- parentis” of parents (for example, an aunt who raised the employee in the place of his/her mother) will be considered as immediate family.
Funeral Pay. (a) An employee excused for such time as may reasonably be needed for the purpose of attending the funeral of a member of his immediate family will be paid his basic straight-time hourly rate for any or all of three (3) regularly scheduled workdays during the period beginning with the day of death and ending with the day after such funeral. Under the conditions established by this Contract, up to four (4) days will be granted to attend a funeral more than three hundred and fifty (350) miles from Paducah, Kentucky. For the purpose of this section, the term "a member of his immediate family" shall be defined as, and limited to, the following: spouse, children, parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, grandchildren, step-parents, brother, sister, stepbrother, stepsister, parents-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, step-children and grandparents, great-grandparents, and step-grandparents of the spouse of the employee.
(b) If a death occurs in an employee's immediate family while he is on vacation, he should promptly notify his manager. The employee will be permitted to cancel only those hours of vacation remaining after notification to his manager, providing he qualifies for funeral pay for those hours under this section.
(c) Arrangements made outside of the time frames in section 12(a) above must have special approval from either the HR or LR manager.
