Leave of Absence for Union Activities. (a) Requests for leaves of absence without pay while on business pertaining to the Union shall be made to the Company by the Union on the employee's behalf.
(b) The requests shall be in writing and shall contain the reasons for such leaves of absence.
(c) The leave of absence without pay granted by the Company for Union business shall be for an initial period of not less than thirty (30) calendar days and not to exceed one (1) year.
(d) Additional leaves of absence for initial periods of thirty (30) days and not to exceed one (1) year, shall be granted, all of which shall be with service credit.
(e) For such leaves of absence, an employee shall:
(1) receive full service credit for all purposes except wage progression;
(2) remain under their current level of benefits for medical, dental, vision and life insurance plans with applicable contributions paid by the employee.
(f) Meetings with Management during a period of leave of absence shall not be considered as breaking a continuous period of leave of absence and shall be included in the period of such leave.
(g) Upon application for reinstatement at or prior to expiration of leave of absence, employee(s) shall be returned to a job of like status and pay.
Leave of Absence for Union Activities. Leave of absence without pay and without loss of seniority will be granted during working hours:
(a) For employees who are elected or appointed representatives of the Union, to attend to union business which requires them to leave their place of employment.
(b) For employees who are representatives of the Union Bargaining Committee, to discuss or negotiate directly with employer representatives, or to attend meetings of the Bargaining Committee. The Employer agrees that such leave will not be unreasonably denied. The Union agrees that no more than one employee will be absent at any one time for the purpose of attending to union business.

(3) be eligible for the Medical Expense Plan, Dental Plan, Vision Care Plan, Life Insurance, Supplementary Life Insurance and Group Legal Plan with premiums to be paid as follows: Dental Care, Vision Care, Group Legal and Supplementary Life Insurance - employee pays; and MEP and Life Insurance - Company pays. Article 4
(4) shall be eligible to participate in the Avaya Service Anniversary Award on the same terms and conditions as active employees.
(f) Meetings with Management during a period of leave of absence shall not be considered as breaking a continuous period of leave of absence and shall be included in the period of such leave.
(g) Upon application for reinstatement at or prior to expiration of leave of absence, employee(s) shall be returned to a job of like status and pay.
Leave of Absence for Union Activities. 16.01 Employees who have been elected or otherwise appointed to attend Union conventions, conferences or delegations, will be given permission to do so. Written requests will be required by the Company from the Union for such leaves of absence. Requests shall be submitted at least forty-eight (48) hours in advance of the required leaves of absence.
Leave of Absence for Union Activities. Intent
17.01 Recognition of Union Representatives The Union will advise the Director, Labour Relations of the names and locations of Union representatives immediately following their election. If required, the Employer will modify, as follows, the work assignments of elected representatives in order to allow them to perform their union duties: redistribution of workload; or the addition of temporary staff; or with the agreement of the employee, transfer to a less sensitive position, with no loss of pay or penalty.
Leave of Absence for Union Activities. Union Business Leave (UBL) Bargaining unit employees may be granted a leave of absence (UBL) to participate in Union-related activities. During the leave of absence, the employee shall be paid by the University and shall continue to accrue service credit, and shall retain all benefits to which the employee was entitled prior to the start of the leave, and employee benefit contributions will continue to be deducted. During the leave, the employee shall be eligible for wage increases in accordance with this Agreement. Any leave granted in accordance with this section shall not constitute a break in service. During the leave of absence, the employee shall not be eligible for Workers Compensation benefits arising out of an injury occurring during the leave from the University. During the leave of absence, the employee shall be covered by the Union's Workers Compensation plan. During the leave of absence, the Union shall reimburse the University for all costs of employee compensation, including but not limited to, salary plus all benefits paid to the employee. The Union shall submit payment to the University within thirty (30) days of receipt of confirmation of payment to the employee. The University has the right to terminate the leave if the Union fails to submit timely payment. A leave of absence for an employee shall be for at least one (1) day and shall not, in the aggregate, exceed three (3) years. The leave of absence request shall be submitted at least seven (7) calendar days in advance. The leave of absence shall be tracked by the University in the same manner that other absences from work are tracked for purposes of timekeeping. The University shall not unreasonably or arbitrarily deny a request for a leave of absence to participate in Union-related activities.
Leave of Absence for Union Activities. Leave of absence without pay will be granted to employees who attend Union activities provided that prior written notice of at least two (2) working days has been given to the Company of the request for such leave and provided further that the number of employees requesting leave at any one time shall not be unreasonable so as to curtail the operations of the Company.
Leave of Absence for Union Activities. The Administration may, at the request of the Union, grant a Leave of Absence to an employee who is selected as a delegate for a specific activity for/or on behalf of the AFL-CIO and its affiliates for a period not to exceed one (1) year. Such Leaves of Absence may be extended at the option of the School District. Seniority shall accumulate during such a Leave of Absence. The employee shall not be compensated by the School District during this Leave of Absence.
Leave of Absence for Union Activities. Leave of absence without pay and without loss of seniority will be granted during working hours:
(a) for employees who are elected or appointed representatives of the Union, to attend to union business which requires them to leave their place of employment;
(b) for employees who are representatives of the union bargaining committee, to discuss or negotiate directly with employer representatives, or to attend meetings of the Bargaining Committee;
(c) for an employee elected to the position of President or Treasurer of the B.C. General Employees' Union for a period of three years. The Employer agrees that such leave will not be unreasonably denied. The Union agrees that no more than one employee will be absent at any one time for the purpose of attending to union business.
Leave of Absence for Union Activities. 9.1 The Company agrees to grant a leave of absence without pay for up to two years to one Employee elected, or appointed, as an officer in the local of the Union. The Union shall apply for the leave of absence by written application to management upon at least two-weeks notice, and subject to suitable replacement availability. The leave of absence will continue only so long as the Employee retains his or her elected, or appointed, position in the local.
9.2 Upon reasonable notice from the Union, the Company agrees to grant leaves of absence without pay to one Employee to attend Union and related activities. The leaves of absence shall not interfere with the normal operations of the Company.
9.3 The period of the leave of absence granted under this section shall not be considered as time worked for the Company and the Employee shall not be entitled to any benefits under the collective agreement while on leave. However, upon conclusion of the leave, the Employee will be credited with seniority to cover the period of the leave to a maximum of six months.
