Leave Without Pay for Union Business. The Authority will maintain the salary of an employee who is granted leave without pay, upon request by the Union. The Authority will deduct the gross salary for the period of such leave from the monthly dues remission sent to the Union. A statement of account showing the date(s) and name(s) of the employee(s) who were on such leave will accompany the remittance of the Union dues cheque from which this recovery is made. The statement will also identify if the leave was for “Local” or “National” business.
Leave Without Pay for Union Business. Where operational requirements permit, and on reasonable notice, special leave without pay may be granted to employees for union business:
(a) as members of the Board of Directors of the Union for the attendance at Board meetings;
(b) as delegates to attend conventions of the Union's affiliated bodies including, National Union of Public and General Employees, Canadian Labour Congress, Nova Scotia Federation of Labour;
(c) as members of standing Committees of the Union for the attendance at meetings of standing Committees;
(d) as members of the Executive to attend Executive Meetings of the Nova Scotia Federation of Labour;
(e) as full-time President of the Union;
(f) for such other Union business as may be authorized by the Union. Such permission will not be unreasonably withheld.
Leave Without Pay for Union Business a) The Government agrees that on at least forty-eight (48) hours notice in writing to the administrative head, leave of absence without pay, but with maintenance of seniority and superannuation rights, shall be given to any designated employee or employees for the purpose of conducting union business.
b) The administrative head may waive any portion of the notice period.
Leave Without Pay for Union Business. Subject to operational requirements, the Employer shall grant leave without pay for up to two (2) employees for periods of up to twelve (12) consecutive calendar days with respect to:
Leave Without Pay for Union Business a) Except in extenuating circumstances, the Employer(s) agrees that on at least forty-eight (48) hours notice in writing leave of absence shall be given to any designated Employee(s) for the purpose of conducting union business, however, where Union business is regularly scheduled, the official will advise the Employer(s) as soon as he/she is aware.
b) The Employer(s) may waive any portion of the notice period.
c) An Employee granted leave under this Article shall earn vacation credits, sick leave credits and Designated Holiday pay.
d) The Employer(s) agrees to continue to pay normal salary, supplementary earnings and benefits to Employees delegated on a short term basis of one
(1) month or less to attend to Union business and that the Employer(s) is to charge the Local of the Union for reimbursement of the cost. Such costs shall only include:
i) actual lost wages;
ii) Employer(s)’s share of Canada Pension contributions;
iii) Employer(s)’s share of Employment Insurance premiums;
iv) Employer(s)’s share of Pension contributions or equivalent;
v) Employer(s)’s share of Group Insurance premiums;
vi) Employer(s)’s share of Disability Income contributions;
vii) Employer(s)’s share of Dental Plan;
Leave Without Pay for Union Business. Employees elected as Officers of the Union may be granted leave without pay for Union business approved by the Union. The Employer will be notified of the requirement for such leave as soon as possible. Such leave shall not be unreasonably withheld.
Leave Without Pay for Union Business. A Union member may request leave of absence without pay for purposes relating to Union activities. Such leave shall not be unreasonably withheld. Requests for such leave of absence shall be given precedence over any other applications for leave on the same day.
Leave Without Pay for Union Business. Subject to operational requirements and with the provision of a reasonable notice, the Centre shall grant leave without pay to:
(a) A reasonable number of employees to attend preparatory collective bargaining meetings on behalf of the Union.
(b) Up to four (4) employees to attend contract negotiation meetings on behalf of the Union.
(c) A Union representative who undertakes training for the purpose of tending to Union business.
(d) A reasonable number of employees to attend meetings of the Board of Directors of the Union, Executive Board meetings of the Union and conventions of the Union, the Canadian Labour Congress and the Ontario and Québec Federations of Labour.
(e) An employee to work for the Union for a maximum of one (1) year.
(f) For administrative purposes, the Centre will continue to pay the employee and the Union will reimburse the Centre for the salary costs of the employee within a reasonable period of time after receiving the request for payment from the Centre.
(a) The Centre will grant leave without pay to an employee who is elected to a full-time position in the union for the duration of the employee’s elected term.
(b) The Union agrees to provide the Centre with one month’s prior written notice of the commencement and termination of this leave.
(c) An employee who has been granted leave without pay under the provision of paragraph 13.03
(a) will resume his or her position or will be appointed to an equivalent position upon return from leave.
Leave Without Pay for Union Business. The Association agrees that, on at least five (5) days' notice in writing to the Program Director, or Branch Supervisor, leave of absence without pay, but with maintenance of seniority rights, shall be given to any designated Employee for the purpose of conducting union business. The Program Director, or Branch Supervisor, may waive any portion of the notice period. Upon the request to her supervisor and upon the approval of the Executive Director, an Employee who has taken Union Leave shall have available casual assistance. This assistance shall be based upon the hours of accumulated union leave or portion thereof in her program.
Leave Without Pay for Union Business. 2/12/1 A total of seventy-five (75) days leave without pay is granted each year of this Agreement for use by employees designated by the Executive Council of the Union for the conduct of Union business subject to the following conditions:
A. No employee may use more than ten (10) days per year unless additional days are mutually agreed upon between Employer and employee.
B. During each year of the Agreement, no more than twelve (12) days will be used by employees from the same organizational unit at the same job headquarters.
C. Not more than two (2) employees from the same organizational unit at the same job headquarters may be on leave at one time.
D. No leave shall be granted for less than one (1) day.
E. The Employer must be given fourteen (14) calendar days notice of such leave, unless mutually agreed otherwise. Leave requests will be approved unless operational needs do not permit.
