MODE OF EMPLOYMENT. 16.1 The University may employ a staff member on a continuing, fixed-term, sessional or casual basis. Employment may also be on the basis of part-year/seasonal or annualised hours employment in accordance with clause 20 and Schedule 4.
16.2 Upon engagement, the University will provide the staff member with an instrument of appointment which stipulates the type of employment and the terms of the engagement including: • for continuing and fixed-term staff, the classification level and salary of the staff member on commencement of the employment, the hours or the fraction of full-time hours to be worked, and the length and terms of any probation; • for a fixed-term staff member, the term of the employment and the circumstance(s) by reference to which the use of fixed- term contract for the type of employment (where applicable) has been decided for that employment, including specifying which element of clause 16.4 is in use and whether the position was obtained through a competitive selection process; • for fixed-term research-only staff members, the option to apply where eligible for employment on a Continuing (Contingent Funded) contract of employment under clause 18 of this Agreement; • for sessional and casual staff members, the duties required, the number of hours required, the rate of pay for each class of duty required and a statement that any additional duties required during the term will be paid for; • other main conditions of employment including the documentary, or other recorded sources from which such conditions derive and the duties and reporting relationships to apply upon appointment can be ascertained.
MODE OF EMPLOYMENT. 36.1 The YWCA Canberra may employ persons on a permanent full-time or part-time, fixed- term or casual basis.
36.2 On engagement, permanent or fixed-term employees will be given written notification by the YWCA Canberra of:
36.2.1 the salary and classification of the position to which they are appointed;
36.2.2 the hours of duty and times of attendance;
36.2.3 the terms and conditions of employment applicable to them.
36.3 Any agreed variation to the above written terms will be confirmed in writing.
36.4 Permanent full-time employment
36.5 Permanent part-time employment
36.5.1 A part-time employee is an employee who is engaged to work less than 38 ordinary hours per week.
36.5.2 A part-time employee shall be paid for each hour worked at the rate prescribed for the appropriate classification in the Agreement. Such part-time employee shall be entitled to receive all benefits and entitlements outlined in this agreement on a pro- rata (per hour worked) basis calculated as a percentage of a full-time equivalent.
36.5.3 For work performed on any shift, a part-time employee shall receive a minimum payment of two and one half hours. Provided that where a part-time employee, working in before and after school care works a broken shift, the minimum payment for the morning part of the shift shall be one and one half hours and the minimum payment for the afternoon part of the shift shall be two and one half hours. In the case of before and after school care the Broken Shift Allowance outlined in clause 36.7 will apply.
36.5.4 The rostered hours of work for a part-time employee may be altered by mutual agreement and recorded in writing. Such recording may be contained on a paper or electronic time sheet or wages book. In such cases part-time employees must work up to 38 hours per week or 10 hours per day before overtime provisions apply.
MODE OF EMPLOYMENT.

b) A full-time employee is one who is engaged for 38 hours per week plus reasonable additional overtime.
c) A part-time employee is one who is engaged for fixed days and hours of work amounting to an average of less than 38 hours per week on an ongoing basis and is entitled to the same conditions as a full-time employee except that these are calculated on a pro rata basis (nominal weekly hours as a proportion of 38 per week) and that payment for a public holiday occurs only if the employee would otherwise have been scheduled to work on that day. Part-time employees will be engaged for a minimum of 4 hours per shift
d) A casual employee is one who is engaged as such and is entitled to a loading of 25% on the rate of pay in lieu of entitlements to paid annual leave, paid personal/carer’s leave, payment for public holidays, notice of termination, and redundancy. To be clear, the loading is payable on standard hours at the factored rates defined in clause 9 and on Award rates for additional hours as defined in clause 11. Casual conversion will be dealt with in accordance with the National Employment Standards and Clause 11 of the Award.

(d) A casual employee is one who is engaged by the hour on a short-term basis and receives a 25% loading in the rate of pay in compensation for paid leave entitlements, payment for public holidays, notice of termination and redundancy provided that:
1) A casual employee shall be entitled to a minimum payment of 4 hours wages on each daily engagement and
2) A casual employee’s services may be terminated with the giving of 1 hours’s notice or payment in lieu thereof (except in the case of serious and wilful misconduct in which case no notice period shall apply)
(e) The Employer may elect to utilise labour hire firms of their choosing to provide casual or seasonal labour as has been custom and practice.

(d) A casual employee is one who is engaged by the hour and whose rate of pay includes at least a 20% loading in lieu of all paid leave provisions (except long service leave) and payment for Public Holidays and may be terminated with the giving of one hour’s notice or payment in lieu thereof.
(e) The nature and classification of employment are detailed in the attached Individual Schedule.

b) A full-time employee is one who is engaged for an average of 38 ordinary hours per week (and no less 2080 hours per annum) on an ongoing basis.
c) A part-time employee is one who is engaged for fixed days and hours of work amounting to an average of less than 38 hours per week on an ongoing basis and is entitled to the same conditions as a full-time employee except that these are calculated on a pro rata basis (nominal weekly hours as a proportion of 38 per week) and that payment for a public holiday occurs only if the employee would otherwise have been scheduled to work on that day.
d) A fixed term/seasonal employee is one who is engaged for a fixed period or for the duration of a specific project or work requirement and has the same conditions as a full-time or part-time employee (as appropriate) except that:
(1) The Notice Period specified in Clause 36 shall not apply where termination is effected due to the natural expiration of employment (ie on the last day of the specified term of employment) and
e) The nature and classification of employment are detailed in the attached Individual Schedule.

d) A casual employee is one who is engaged es such and is entitled to a loading of 25% on the rate ofpay in lieu of entiUements to paid leave, payment for public holidays, notice of ternrination and redundancy. A casual employee required to work overlime or weekend work will be entitled to the relevant penalty rates, e.g. where the relevant penalty rate is time and a haft, the employee must be paid 175% of the ordinary time hourly rate pre-scribed for the employee1s classification. A casual employee has the right to request conversion to a. fu/I-Ume orpart-xxx e employee in line with the National Employment Standards.
