Reduction Procedures a. The Employer will provide employees with notice ten (10) weekdays (Monday through Friday) prior to any layoff.
b. Employees bumped to substitute status due to the run selection process shall not be considered as laid-off.
Reduction Procedures. 1. The number of people affected, by a reduction will be kept to a minimum by not employing replacements, insofar as practical, for employees who resign, retire, or otherwise vacate a position. Upon approval by the Board of Education of the reduction in force, all transfers in the affected job classification shall be suspended until Administration completes the reduction procedures.
2. No students, JTPA or Welfare individuals shall be hired while employees are laid off. Probationary employees shall be laid off first.
Reduction Procedures. In the event certificated employees are laid off, the following procedure will be implemented:
1. The staff requirements and projected student enrollment for all schools in the District will be listed by building.
2. Reduction shall be by seniority (lowest seniority first laid off) provided that the qualifications as set forth in Section A are met.
3. Teachers currently assigned in full time positions shall be first assigned to all full time positions consistent with their individual seniority, and shall not be obligated to any part-time position, but may choose to accept such a position on a voluntary basis. Certificated employees currently assigned in part-time positions shall be assigned to part-time positions only consistent with their current seniority, provided no part- time employee with less seniority shall be assigned to any part-time position unless such a position is declined by all employees (full and part-time) with greater seniority.
4. Employees laid off will be notified of layoff in accordance with applicable statutes and this agreement.
Reduction Procedures. If the bargaining unit member(s) is/are removed or dismissed as a result of a decision by the employer to decrease the number of bargaining unit employees or to discontinue a particular type of bargaining unit service, written notice shall be given to the employee(s) by registered mail at least sixty (60) days before the end of the school year, together with a statement of honorable dismissal and the reasons therefore. Employees hired after January 1, 1998, shall be entitled to written notice of reduction in force by either certified mail, return receipt requested, or personal delivery, with receipt at least thirty (30) days before the employee is removed or dismissed. The employee(s) with the shorter length of seniority within his/her respective classification (as defined in subparagraph A, above) shall be dismissed first provided, however, that for purposes of implementing this provision an employee's seniority rights shall be those earned in the classification of position held at the time the reduction-in-force occurs.
Reduction Procedures. In the event that a bargaining unit member(s) is/are removed or dismissed or the hours they work are reduced, as a result of a decision by the Board to decrease the number of bargaining unit employees or to discontinue a particular type of bargaining unit service, the employee in the impacted bargaining unit/seniority classification with the least seniority within the District shall be dismissed first. Written notice shall be given to the employee(s) by registered mail at least thirty (30) days before the end of the school term, together with a statement of honorable dismissal and the reason therefore. The Human Resource Office will also enclose a letter of intent relative to available positions for the following year. Ties in seniority shall be broken by lottery. Employees who have one year or less than one year of service are typically released (rifd) at the end of the school year. For purposes of staff reduction, only: In the event the Board eliminates all Library Teaching Assistants, affected Library Teaching Assistants shall have seniority rights within the relevant and parallel (i.e., K-5 or 6-12) category of Instructional Teaching Assistants. In the event the Board eliminates all Computer Teaching Assistants, affected computer Teaching Assistants shall have seniority rights within the relevant and parallel (i.e., K-5 or 6-12) category of Instructional Teaching Assistants. Head custodians and district wide maintenance employees whose positions are eliminated shall have seniority rights within the custodian/building maintenance category.
Reduction Procedures a. The Employer will provide employees with fourteen (14) working days notice prior to any layoff.
b. The Employer shall give written notice of recall from layoff by mailing a registered or certified letter to the employee at his/her last known address seven (7) days prior to the date of return to work.
c. The employee shall report to work upon the date specified by the Employer, and failure to report on that date shall terminate his/her employment.
Reduction Procedures. 1. The Board shall give a minimum of thirty (30) days notice of layoff in cases of reduced enrollment or insufficient funds.
2. The Board shall give written notice of recall from layoff by mailing a registered or certified letter to the teacher at his/her last known address at least seven (7) calendar days prior to the date of return to work.
3. The teacher shall report to work upon the date specified by the Board. Failure to report on that date shall terminate his/her individual employment contract unless prior arrangements have been agreed upon with the Superintendent.
Reduction Procedures. When the Board determines that a decrease in the number of teachers or a discontinuance of some teaching service is necessary, such reductions in force will be accomplished in accordance with Section 24-12 of the School Code and other applicable sections of the School Code.
Reduction Procedures. The Board of Education shall determine in which classifications the reductions should occur and the number of positions to be eliminated. In the classifications, employees with limited contracts shall be eliminated by seniority before any employee in that classification employed under a continuing contract is eliminated.

If a bargaining unit member(s) is/are removed or dismissed or the hours he or she works are reduced as a result of a decision by the Board to decrease the number of bargaining unit employees or to discontinue a particular type of bargaining unit service, written notice shall be given to the employee(s) by certified mail at least thirty (30) days before the employee is removed or dismissed or the hours he or she works are reduced, together with a statement of honorable dismissal and the reasons therefore if applicable. However, if a reduction in hours is due to an unforeseen reduction in the student population, then the written notice must be mailed and given to the employee at least 5 days before the hours are reduced. The employee(s) with the shorter length of seniority within his/her respective classification (as defined in subparagraph 1 above) shall be dismissed first, provided, however, that for purposes of this provision an employee's seniority rights shall be those earned in the above classification at the time of the reduction-in-force, except for custodians and maintenance employees, whose seniority shall be calculated as length of service in the employment of the District at the time of the reduction-in-force.
