SAFETY AND PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT. 17.01 The Employer shall provide a safe workplace as prescribed by the Occupational Health & Safety Act and shall only use safety devices which have been approved under the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
17.02 The employees must follow all Safety Rules prescribed by the Employer as a condition of employment. Failure to do so will result in discipline up to, and including, termination of employment.
17.03 The employees must wear all protective safety devices required by the Employer.
17.04 Each employee must wear industrial safety boots at all times while on the construction site.
17.05 The Employer will provide one (1) hard hat and one (1) pair of gloves for each employee upon hire. The Employer will replace said items upon presentation of the worn out items.
17.06 The Employer will provide all other required personal protective equipment deemed necessary to protect the health and safety of the employees. This will include, but not be limited to: • Hearing protection • Safety glasses & goggles (non-prescription only) • Face xxxxxxx • Hot gloves & aprons • Particulate masks • Breathing apparatus • Fall arrest equipment • Rubberized safety boots Such equipment shall remain the property of the Employer and employees are responsible for their care and for advising supervisors of any defects.
17.07 For each employee that has completed one (1) year of employment, the Employer will provide a clothing allowance of three hundred dollars ($300.00) per year for the purchase of work apparel (i.e. work boots, coveralls). This clothing allowance will be paid upon presentation of receipt for the purchased goods.
17.08 Where the company is required by the Occupational Health and Safety Act to have a certified employee Health and Safety Representative on site, the Employer agrees to pay the acting Representative a one dollar ($1.00) per hour premium in addition to his regular rate of pay. Should the designated representative also be a xxxxxxx, the combined premium shall be limited to one dollar and fifty cents ($1.50) per hour.
SAFETY AND PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT. 17.01 All employees shall wear safety hats purchased at their own expense.
17.02 All employees shall wear appropriate safety boots. Employees in the cost-plus division of the company who have completed twelve (12) or more months of service in the twenty-four (24) months preceding July 1 and December 1 each year, may claim a safety boot allowance of up to eighty dollars ($80.00) on July 1, and an additional eighty dollars ($80.00) on December 1, upon submission of proof of purchase of such boots. The safety boot allowance shall be paid by separate cheque and shall not be subject to taxation.
17.03 Each vehicle supplied by the Employer shall be equipped with a fully stocked first aid kit. It shall be the responsibility of the vehicle's regular driver to keep the first aid kit properly stocked, during his daily circle check of the vehicle.
17.04 The Employer shall issue one (1) pair of safety glasses, and one (1) pair of externally worn hearing protectors, to each employee required to wear such safety equipment in the performance of his duties. Employees who require additional pairs of ear or eye protectors will be issued same by the Employer, and the cost of such replacement items will be deducted from the employee's pay.
17.05 Specialized safety equipment shall be provided by the Employer, and shall remain the property of the Employer.
17.06 At least once every three (3) months a health and safety committee shall meet to discuss, encourage and implement safety in the workplace. The committee shall consist of at least two (2) Union members, and two (2) management representative(s). Meetings shall be held during normal working hours, and employee members of the committee shall be paid for all reasonable time spent in safety meetings or in performing duties related to their responsibilities as safety committee members. Minutes of safety committee meetings shall be kept and posted in the employee job shack, and in the service garage.
SAFETY AND PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT. 31:01 Employees are required to use and/or wear safety equipment and apparel for their protection in the performance of their duties:
(a) The following, when required, will be supplied to each employee at Corporation expense:
i. Safety glasses
ii. Hard hats, complete with liners
iii. Work gloves
iv. Coveralls (non-insulated)
v. Bug Jacket (1) vi. Snowmobile helmets or goggles

17.04 If required by the regulations issued under The Occupational Health and Safety Act the employees shall wear safety footwear, to be furnished by the employees. The Employer agrees to reimburse each employee who has completed twelve (12) months of service; up to three hundred dollars ($300.00) per contract year for the purchase of safety footwear and work wear. The employee is to be reimbursed upon presentation of receipt. The Employer will furnish employees with specialized safety equipment (including safety glasses) and rain gear if and when required. Any worn out safety equipment will be replaced upon presentation of the worn equipment. Any work wear that needs to be replaced due to improper use or care may not be reimbursed. The Employees are expected to wear proper work wear on site at all times.
17.05 The Employer will provide all other required Personal Protective Equipment deemed necessary to protect the health and safety of the employees. This will include, but not limited to:

SAFETY AND PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT. 14.01 The Employer and every employee shall comply fully with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations thereto and all such legislation as it pertains to accident prevention and safe and sanitary working practices. The Employer and every employee shall also comply with procedures outlined in the Employer safety manual or safety policies. The Safety Manual shall serve as a minimum standard in regard to Company safety policies.
14.02 All employees shall wear safety hats to be furnished free of charge by the Employer.
14.03 The Employer will provide all employees with gloves as it determines to be necessary.
14.04 At no cost to employees, the Employer agrees to supply them with work uniforms. The supply of uniforms shall consist of three (3) changes of shirts and pants for each week. This will provide a total of seven (7) sets of uniforms - one (1) in use, three (3) in the shop, and three (3) being cleaned for the following week.
14.05 The Employer shall supply all employees with respirators and safety glasses and shall supply kettlemen with face xxxxxxx and mineral sleeves. Employees agree to use such equipment when supplied.
14.06 The Employer shall supply each employee with the following tools: knife, hammer, tape measure, and safety glasses. If any extra tools are necessary or required they too shall be supplied by the Employer. If a tool as required breaks, the Employer shall replace it. If an employee loses a tool or if a tool is broken because of improper use or handling, the employee shall replace it himself. If an employee has been issued the required tools and reports for work without them, he shall be refused work until he has his tools.
14.07 Employees shall supply themselves with, and wear at all times on the job, approved safety shoes.
14.08 From time to time, the Company Safety Director will call a safety meeting. Attendance is compulsory and a representative from the roofing division shall attend all safety meetings so called.
SAFETY AND PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT. The Employer shall provide to the employees, free of charge, all safety and personal protective equipment (except safety footwear) which is necessary to safely perform their duties. The employee shall be responsible for the cost of any of the above safety articles issued to him in the performance of his duties if he is unable to return them.
