Salary Step Placement. Each faculty member is responsible for providing official transcripts, teaching and work experience verifications to the Office of Academic Support located at San Xxxx City College, or to the Office of Academic Services located at Evergreen Valley College no later than sixty (60) days after the beginning date of hire. Credit may not be granted retroactively for academic teaching or work experience verifications received subsequent to the sixty (60) day limit. Faculty members employed for adjunct service shall be placed on the adjunct faculty salary schedule step for which their years of educational service and occupational vocational experience qualify them.
Salary Step Placement. Upon initial hire, credit for previous experience may be granted up to the top step of the appropriate column for:
Salary Step Placement. An employee, upon initial appointment, shall be placed on the first step of the salary range of the classification to which they are appointed. Employees upon initial appointment may provide information to support placement above the first step. When an employee is reassigned to a classification on the career lattice or when an employee is promoted on the career lattice, his/her salary step placement shall be determined using one of the following rules:
Salary Step Placement. Upon reappointment to the classification from which the employee was originally separated or demoted, the employee has the right to be placed at the step of the salary range which the employee held at the time of layoff or demotion.
Salary Step Placement. Employees will be appointed to a step on the salary schedule within a prescribed range. Normally, employees shall be appointed to the first step in their allocated range. Upon the recommendation of the department head, the Human Resources Director(or City Manager as required) may approve placement at a higher step within the prescribed range based upon the employee’s qualifications and performance justifying such placement or a proven inability to recruit at the first step.
Salary Step Placement. The teacher shall be placed at the appropriate step of the salary schedule on the basis of the required documentation submitted to the Superintendent, showing the years of service prior to employment with the District, and District documentation of in District years of service completed prior to July 1 preceding the entry on duty date of the work year during which the placement is to become effective. The total maximum years of service for step placement purposes shall be limited to a maximum of six and eight years for the teacher holding a Baccalaureate or Master's Degree respectively upon initial entry on duty with the District.
Salary Step Placement. When a nurse is promoted in series, she will be paid in minimum of the new class or the next highest rate level in the new class over her old rate, whichever is greater.
Salary Step Placement. A new employee shall be placed on the proper step of the salary schedule according to their experience and education. Upon initial employment all credit, to a maximum of nine (9) years for previous outside experience in a duly accredited school shall be granted for salary placement and career teacher incentive purposes. A reinstated employee or an employee who has been rehired within five (5) years of the date of resignation from the District and not covered by Section 7.1.3 of this Agreement shall be restored to the salary step placement that they occupied when they left the District. An employee rehired after five (5) years from the date of resignation from the District shall be considered a new employee. Additional credit not to exceed four (4) years for military experience and not to exceed two (2) years for Peace Corps, VISTA, or National Teacher Corps work will be given upon initial employment. Credit shall be given upon initial employment for work experience in the case of social workers, psychologists, librarians, technical personnel, and technical teachers. Employees receiving credit for years of work or field experience above and beyond their teaching experience shall receive one (1) salary step for each year of experience not including apprenticeship and preparation. The maximum number of credits for such experience will be eight (8). The District shall not be obligated to grant more than a total of seventeen (17) years credit to any new employee. This maximum allowance shall be determined by the total year’s credit for previous teaching, military, work, field, or any other experience enumerated in this Section.

For the purpose of determining an employee's FIRE 28 DISTRICT salary step placement, "CITY salary" shall be defined as all monthly earnings that 1 are eligible towards CITY retirement credit, excluding any compensation for unused benefit 2 days or holidays, uniform allowances, and all overtime earnings. The employee's initial salary 3 step placement shall not be less than his/her CITY salary as defined in this Section VII, 4 Subsection (C), paragraph 2. 5 Paramedic bonuses shall be excluded from “CITY salary” for those employees who 6 transfer to the FIRE DISTRICT into a “Fire Fighter” position. Any transferring employees who 7 are assigned to “Fire Fighter Paramedic” positions will be entitled to receive the applicable 8 FIRE DISTRICT paramedic bonus.

For the purpose of determining an employee's FIRE 10 DISTRICT salary step placement, "CITY salary" shall be defined as all monthly earnings that 11 are eligible towards CITY retirement credit, excluding any compensation for unused benefit 12 days or holidays, uniform allowances, and all overtime earnings. The employee's initial salary 13 step placement shall not be less than his/her CITY salary as defined in this Section VII, 14 Subsection (C), paragraph 2. 15 CITY Fire Fighter Paramedics shall transfer to the FIRE DISTRICT into Fire 16 Fighter Paramedic positions. Any CITY Fire Fighter Paramedic who opts to transfer into a 17 non-paramedic Fire Fighter position after transfer to the Fire District shall receive the 18 appropriate FIRE DISTRICT Fire Fighter salary based on the transferring employee’s time in 19 service with the CITY, plus any appropriate CITY bonuses as determined by the FIRE 20 DISTRICT, and such employee shall not be eligible to receive a Y-rated salary pursuant to this 21 Section VII, Subsection (C), paragraph 2(a). 22 Paramedic bonuses shall also be excluded from “CITY salary” for those 23 employees who transfer to the FIRE DISTRICT into a “Fire Fighter” position. Any transferring 24 employees who are assigned to “Fire Fighter Paramedic” positions will be entitled to receive 25 the applicable FIRE DISTRICT paramedic bonus.
