School Staffing Committee. L - D.7.1. The Board and the Union recognize the work of the School Staffing Committee as an integral part of the consultation process in organizing the school.
School Staffing Committee a) A School Staffing Committee shall be established as follows:
i) The staff of the School shall elect up to three of their members to the School Staffing Committee.
ii) The Vice-Principal shall be a member of the School Staffing Committee.
b) The responsibilities of the School Staffing Committee shall be as follows:
i) To review the current staffing model and to propose any such modification as may be required to create and maintain the best teaching and learning environment, to make the most effective use of staff allocated to school and to comply with the terms of the collective agreement.
ii) To consider and to respond to organizational proposals and/or suggestions submitted by staff members to the Committee.
iii) To assist in the equitable distribution of instructional and non- instructional periods.
iv) To create a proposed supervision schedule for the following school year and to propose any revisions deemed necessary.
c) The Committee shall make recommendations to the Principal who shall make the final determination.
School Staffing Committee. D.
3.1 A school staffing committee shall be established in every school to assist in the development of:
a) A school organization including required school reorganizations after the commencement of the school year, in accordance with the board’s regional staffing timelines and guidelines, ministry class size mandates, and applicable collective agreement guidelines. When assisting the development of school organizations, the school staffing committee will consider the optimal use of combined grade classes as well as the number of integrated special education students into regular classrooms when determining school organizations.
b) A school staffing model that creates and maintains the best teaching and learning environment possible, provides for the optimal use of staff allocated to schools and is in compliance with the terms of the collective agreement clauses related to instructional and non-instructional time.
c) Final decisions related to the school organization and school staffing model are the responsibility of the school administration.
School Staffing Committee. The Principal/Vice-Principal of each school shall meet with the Workplace Xxxxxxx and a minimum of two (2) teachers elected by the staff in September. The Committee shall meet in September, January and prior to June 15th of each school year to discuss such issues as: staff allocation for the following school year, timetable, supervision and instructional/non-instructional periods and/or other issues identified by either party.
06.01 Additional meetings may be requested by any member of the committee including the Principal, on an as needed basis.
School Staffing Committee. The parties recognize that the Principal, subject to the authority of the Board and its administration, has responsibility and duties as outlined under the Education Act and the Regulations. Each school or workplace shall have a School Staffing Committee. The Committee shall consist of the Principal Vice-Principal,the Workplace Xxxxxxx, and a maximum of three (3) additional Members from the school or workplace appointed by the Union. The Principal, or in the case of regional programs a designated administrator, shall keep members of the Staffing Committee informed throughout the in-school surplus procedures and shall:
School Staffing Committee. A school staffing advisory committee shall be set up consisting of one (1) teacher representative, the principal, the vice-principal, and the school xxxxxxx. This committee will provide the principal with recommendations regarding staffing matters.
School Staffing Committee. In each school, a staffing committee will be formed to review staffing implications of student success initiatives, help track records, recommend best practices and relate to provincial initiatives.
School Staffing Committee. The parties recognize that the Principal, subject to the authority of the Board and its administration, has responsibility and duties as outlined under the Education Act and the Regulations. Each school or workplace shall have a School Staffing Committee. The Committee shall consist of the Principal and/or Vice-Principal, the Workplace Xxxxxxx, and a maximum of three (3) additional Members from the school or workplace appointed by the Union. The Principal, or in the case of regional programs a designated administrator, shall keep members of the Staffing Committee informed throughout the in-school surplus procedures and shall:
a) Receive and review input from the Workplace Xxxxxxx and Members designated above on the school staff allocation of instructional time and preparation time, and supervision time within the school.
b) Review the method of staffing the school during the school year, including in-school surplus and redundancy declarations, transfers and hiring to vacancies. In addition, the Principal or in the case of regional programs a designated administrator shall also:
c) Provide the Members designated above with copies of:
(i) the complete school staff list indicating assignments and vacancies;
(ii) the program needs of the school for the next year; and
d) In addition the Principal or in the case of regional programs a designated administrator shall review the allocation of the school budget with the school staffing committee. Should there be a disagreement on the distribution of instructional time and preparation time, and supervision time within the school, as identified in Article 29, the Workplace Xxxxxxx and designated Member of the Union will discuss their concerns with the Principal. If a resolution is not reached, the Workplace Xxxxxxx and designate may put their concerns in writing and submit them through the Union to the Staffing Advisory Committee. The Staffing Advisory Committee will take this information into account when they review the number of minutes of instructional time and the distribution of preparation time, and supervision time within the school, as outlined in Article 29. If the Staffing Advisory Committee cannot resolve the situation, the matter will be referred to the Executive Officer of Human Resources, whose decision will be final.
School Staffing Committee. The Principal and/or Vice-Principal of each school shall meet with the Workplace Xxxxxxx and two (2) teachers (elected by the teachers) prior to April 15th of each school year to discuss such issues as: staff allocation for the following school year, timetable, assigned teaching time and preparation time and/or other staffing issues. The committee will meet prior to October 31st if requested by the workplace xxxxxxx to discuss changes to staffing allocations which may occur after September 1st. It is clearly understood, as stated in the Education Act, that it is the duty and sole discretion of the Principal to organize the school.
School Staffing Committee. The Secondary School Staffing Committee is established in order to provide a higher level of openness, disclosure and meaningful consultation, in an atmosphere of openness and transparency. It is intended that the Association be given the opportunity to advise the Principal on decisions that impact staffing.
a) A Local School Staffing Advisory Committee (LSSAC) shall be established in every Secondary school by September 15th of each school year and shall hold its first meeting by September 30th. Subsequent meetings shall be held on or before January 15th and on or before May 15th. The above time-lines may be altered by mutual agreement between the Principal and the teachers’ representatives.
b) The Committee (LSSAC) shall consist of three teachers selected by the OECTA Unit Executive from names submitted at the school level, the Principal, who shall chair the committee, and the Vice-Principal of the school.
c) The duties of the LSSAC shall be as follows:
i) to meet at the prescribed times, or as necessary, or at the request of either party but not less than once per school term during the school year.
ii) to review Staff Survey sheets
iii) to advise the Principal regarding: -the school staffing priorities -teacher instructional workload distributions and instructional assignments arising from the distribution of staff within the school -the school supervision, on call and lunch break arrangements -the suggestions or requests of any teacher(s) who make submissions to the committee regarding the above.
iv) the committee shall appoint a recording secretary who will report the discussions/results of the meeting(s) to all teachers at the next scheduled staff meeting.
