Assignments and Vacancies. A. All employees, whether on layoff or returning from leave, are entitled to participate and exercise their seniority in the bidding process. The most senior employee shall have first choice of assignment. Selection of assignments shall continue in order of the next most senior employee until all the available assignments are selected. Available shuttle routes shall be bid separately by seniority bid prior to school starting Bidding for regularly scheduled bus routes will be as follows:

Prior to the end of each semester, the Board shall survey the adult education teaching staff for assignment preferences using an Assignment Preference Form (Appendix AC- 1). Staff preferences, as detailed on the Assignment Preference Form, will be considered in making class assignments, including night, Saturday, and Sunday classes. Teacher assignments received at the end of a semester for the following semester shall be considered tentative until the completion of the third week of the respective semester. MAHS Master Class Schedules will be distributed as soon as available before each semester. As changes are made revisions will be distributed. Teaching assignments will be made based on certification, qualification, seniority, and the instructional needs and operational requirements of the program.

Kindergarten routes and available shuttle routes shall be bid separately by seniority bid prior to school starting. Drivers not working over 6.5 hours per day may bid on any remaining kindergarten routes. Any kindergarten routes not selected by seniority bid may be assigned to an available bargaining unit member. Extracurricular positions need not be posted in the event the employee currently holding the position is requested by his/her supervisor to continue in the same position for the next season and/or school year, or if an assistant coach position is filled by a coach already working in that sport in the District. All head coach vacancies shall be posted. When a vacancy occurs, the District notifies building staff of the posting. Building staff interested in consideration for the posting must notify the District using the selected on-line application tool within five (5) working days. The District may elect to fill the vacancy with a staff member whom is deemed qualified. Whereas the head coach is responsible for the continuity of the program, he/she will be a member of the hiring committee for assistant coaches when available.
