Summer Employees. Extra employees needed for summer shall be placed on a seniority list. Rentals activities and summer school assignment will be determined by Operations. No employee will be bumped from their own school. A refusal of a work offer will result in placement at the bottom of the list. (Rental activities and summer school are NOT summer work.)
Summer Employees. Qualified nine (9) month classified employees may be given the opportunity to perform seasonal work, when schools are not in session, before hiring certified staff or residents of the community. Federal, state and locally funded youth and adult programs are excluded from this provision. Rates will be listed on postings. Provisions of this contract will not apply to employees hired to perform summer seasonal work.
Summer Employees. Summer employees will be employed at a rate less than the lowest paid classification and will receive no benefits. Regularly employed union members who are on layoff will be given first opportunity to accept summer work.
Summer Employees. Bargaining unit employees shall be offered seasonal work, when available, when school is not in session at their current hourly rate of pay before other individuals are contacted. Every reasonable attempt will be made to call out employees based upon job classification seniority.
Summer Employees. Independence Day will be a paid holiday for eligible employees. An eligible employee must be scheduled to work the day before or the day after the Independence Day holiday to qualify for that paid holiday.
Summer Employees. Seniority Rights if Employed as Regular Employee When a summer employee informs the Company he/she would like to continue as a permanent employee, seniority will revert to the most recent starting date of employment if the employee is continued in employment as a regular employee by mutual agreement of the Union and the Company.
Summer Employees. A. This section does not apply to Express Employees. Language for Express employees shall be found under Article VIII - Express Employees.
B. District-Wide Summer School or Summer Program Selection Process:
1. Employees with previous summer school experience shall have first opportunity for available positions within their job title at the same or fewer number of hours and/or level of pay as is assigned during the school year.
2. Seniority in summer school shall be determined by continuous summer experience, excluding authorized leaves of absence, or the equivalent for periods when no such provision existed.
3. If a greater number of qualified employees are interested than there are available positions with the same or fewer number of hours as is assigned during the school year, selection will be based secondly on group seniority.
4. Employees may be paid for the Independence Day holiday as per the “Holidays” section of this contract.
5. All provisions of this Agreement shall be in effect for employees working the summer program.
C. Building-Based Summer Program Selection Process
1. Building level summer school programs shall attempt to use building level staff to serve the program. These positions shall be posted in the building. Priority will be given in the following order:
a. First priority: building based bargaining unit members, by seniority, who have prior building- level extended program experience and job title
b. Second priority: building based bargaining unit members, by seniority and job title
c. Third priority: bargaining unit members from other buildings by seniority and job title
Summer Employees.
A. The District shall publish and distribute to kitchen managers by March 1st a summer seniority list which includes summer seniority and District seniority.
B. Summer seniority shall be determined by continuous summer experience. Employees may miss one (1) summer of work without losing summer seniority. If they miss one (1) summer and do not return in the subsequent summer, they will restart their summer seniority. (This provision shall start with the ratification of this agreement, so as to allow employees who might have missed this summer thinking they had more than one summer they could miss as noted in old language.) Employees with previous summer school experience shall have the first opportunity for available positions at the same job title.
1. Employees on approved vacation for parts of summer school, shall maintain seniority for that summer.
2. If an employee does not complete summer work, summer seniority shall be lost unless there is a medical reason, accompanied by a doctor’s note.
C. Summer jobs will be communicated to all NS employees. Selection of summer employees will occur at Summer Selection Day. Summer Selection Day shall occur prior to May 31st and shall be held as late as reasonably possible. There shall be at least one (1) representative of the Association in attendance.
Summer Employees. A. Employees who are regularly scheduled to work during the summer months of the year shall earn one (1) days paid vacation for each five (5) days in which the employee(s) work during the summer.
B. These same employee(s) as a paid holiday. shall receive July 4th
Summer Employees. The AHA may continue its practice of utilizing “summer” employees to supplement the regular work force through grants or other funded positions. Regardless of when the work is performed, such employees may not work more than ninety (90) days in a calendar year. Such employees shall be paid on an hourly basis, are not part of the bargaining unit and are not eligible for employee benefits, sick leave, vacation, holiday pay, etc. The AHA will not hire any “summer” employee while a regular employee is on lay-off or if the result will cause the lay-off of any bargaining unit employee based on lack of work.
