TEMPORARY LEAVES OF ABSENCE WITH PAY. Teachers shall be entitled to the following temporary non-accumulative leaves of absence with pay each year:
TEMPORARY LEAVES OF ABSENCE WITH PAY. 1. A maximum of four (4) days of full salary each year will be credited each teacher for personal reasons. Application for personal leave will be made at least two (2) days prior to time required for such leave (except in the case of an emergency). If these days are not used, they shall be added to the teacher's accumulated sick leave. These days may not be used the day before or after a holiday or vacation. Under rare and unusual circumstances, the Superintendent may make exceptions to the above limit; his decision is not grievable. The maximum number of teachers who may be on the same day under this paragraph is six (6) teachers. No more than three (3) of these days may be used consecutively. 2. Where more than a total of the allowable days are used, a salary deduction will be taken.

The Board shall permit a person or persons designated by the Association to attend Association conferences. A maximum of ten (10) days total absence, without loss of pay, will be granted. Any unused days may accumulate to a maximum of fifteen (15) days. Only Association officers may attend to Association business during the school year. The Association shall make such request one (1) week prior to the date of such conferences. Application for such Association business leave will be made at least one (1) week prior to time required for such leave (except in the case of an emergency). The Association shall pay the expenses incurred at the current daily substitute rate. 4. Teachers may not use personal days in conjunction with "days without pay". This restriction may be waived at the Superintendent's discretion.

Two (2) days with full pay will be granted to employees to care for a member of the immediate family who is ill.
TEMPORARY LEAVES OF ABSENCE WITH PAY. A. Each teacher shall be entitled to the following temporary non-accumulative leaves of absence with full pay each school year: 1. Two school daysleave of absence for personal, legal business, household or family matters which require absence during school hours. The teacher shall not be required to state the reason for taking such leave other than that he/she is taking it under this section. Generally, days immediately preceding and immediately following holidays or vacation should not be used. If the above 2 personal days have been used, additional absence with pay shall be allowed when such absence has been recommended in writing by the principal and approved by the Superintendent. It is expected that the teacher will be absent only for unavoidable reasons that cannot be planned for a non- school day and will give at least 72 hours’ notice when possible. 2. Time necessary for up to 2 representatives of the Association to attend conferences and conventions of State and National affiliated organizations not to exceed 6 total days in any combination during the school year. 3. Time necessary for appearances in any legal proceedings connected with the teacher’s employment or with the school system or in any other legal proceeding if the teacher is required by law to attend. 4. Up to 5 school days within the 7 calendar day period commencing the day of death (if the day of death is taken as one of the 5 days) or the day following the day of death (if the day of death is not taken as one of the 5 days) if the absence is caused by the death of a teacher’s spouse, child, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, parent, father-in-law, mother-in-law, brother, sister, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, grandparent, grandchildren, or any other member of the immediate household. 5. Up to five (5) days per work year if the absence is caused by the serious illness of the teacher’s parent or the serious illness of a member of the teacher’s immediate household, if the teacher’s presence is necessary. For purposes of this section A.5., a teacher may substantiate serious illness of his/her parent or member of his/her immediate household and that his/her presence is necessary by: (i) providing the superintendent with a doctor’s note stating that the teacher’s presence was/is necessary to care for the teacher’s parent/immediate household member on the day(s) the teacher is/will be absent; or (ii) providing the Superintendent with documentation that the teacher transported his/her parent/im...

TEMPORARY LEAVES OF ABSENCE WITH PAY. A. Teachers’ Personal Days 1. Three (3) personal days per year shall be granted to each teacher without reason. 2. Unused personal days shall be cumulative up to a maximum of four (4) days. Unused personal days in excess of four (4) shall be converted to sick days on September 1st. 3. Except in cases of emergency, personal days shall be applied for at least two days in advance on the prescribed form available in the general office, except that personal days on the working day preceding or following a school holiday shall be applied for at least two weeks in advance. In emergency situations teachers shall inform the District of their anticipated absence in the same manner as required for absence due to illness. B. Custodians’ Personal Days 1. Three (3) days personal business each year, effective after sixty (60) days of employment, accumulative up to four (4) days with the following stipulation: a) Single personal days must be requested a week in advance except for emergencies. C. Bereavement Leave 1. Up to five (5) days shall be granted in the case of the death of a member of the immediate family (parent, brother, sister, spouse, own children, grandparent, grandchild, mother/father-in-law) or of any relative who has lived in the home of the employee for some time immediately preceding death. 2. Up to two (2) days shall be granted in the case of the death of son/daughter-in-law and brother/sister-in-law. Any additional days will be subject to the approval of the Superintendent. 3. Up to one (1) day shall be granted in the case of a relative.

Each employee shall be entitled to two (2) paid personal days per contract year for imperative personal, legal business, or imperative household or imperative family matters which necessitates the employee's presence and cannot be scheduled outside of work hours. In the case of death of the employee's husband, wife, brother, sister, son, daughter, grandparent, grandchild, mother-in-law, father-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, aunt, uncle and other member of the employee's immediate household, the School Administration shall grant the employee a leave of absence without loss of pay for a period of up to five (5) days (i.e., the employee does not automatically receive five (5) days but shall be granted a leave of absence of between one (1) and five (5) days). C. One day for the purpose of visiting other schools or attending meetings or conferences of an educational nature. D. One day if the absence is caused by the serious illness of the employee's parent or the serious illness of a member of the employee's immediate household, if the employee's presence is necessary.
