Ten Hour Tours. J-1 (a) Ten (10) hour tours shall be introduced into any unit when:
i) Eighty percent (80%) of the nurses in the Unit so indicate by secret ballot, and
ii) the Hospital agrees to implement the ten (10) hour rotation, such agreement shall not be withheld in an unreasonable or arbitrary manner.
Ten Hour Tours. Introduction and Discontinuation of Ten Hour Tours
Ten Hour Tours. R-1
(a) For Nurses working ten (10) hour tours, a regular day tour shall be comprised of 9.5 hours, which shall include one break of thirty (30) minutes or two breaks of fifteen (15) minutes each which are paid and an unpaid lunch break of thirty (30) minutes.
(b) Nurses on ten (10) hour tours will not be scheduled for more than four (4) consecutive tours unless a Nurse requests otherwise. Premium pay will be paid for all hours worked on the fifth (5th) consecutive extended tour and all subsequent consecutive extended tours until a day off is received.
(c) Schedules will provide for every other weekend off.
(d) A full-time and/or regular part-time Nurse shall be paid time and one-half (1½) her/his regular straight time hourly rate for all hours worked on a third consecutive and all subsequent consecutive weekend(s) worked until a weekend is received off, save and except where:
i) Such weekend has been worked by the Nurse to satisfy specific days off requested by such Nurse; or
ii) Such Nurse has requested weekend work; or
iii) Such weekend is worked as the result of an exchange of shifts with another Nurse.
(e) At least fourteen (14) hours’ time off shall be scheduled between change of shifts, it being understood that there may be more than one starting time for the day shift. Where the Hospital fails to provide the requisite scheduled hours off as provided herein, a full-time and/or regular part-time Nurse will be compensated with premium pay for all hours worked during the previous fourteen (14) hours.
(f) For the purpose of sub-article G-5, the utilization of single vacation days will be modified to six (6) ten (10) hour tours instead of ten (10) normal daily tours.
(g) Paid holidays are paid at the rate of 7.5 hours. Nurses working on a paid holiday receives one and one-half (1½) times their regular rate for 9.5 hours, plus holiday pay of 7.5 hours, if eligible.
(h) Nurses on sick leave is paid 9.5 hours for single days of absence. When absent for one whole week or more, the Nurse is paid at the rate of 37.5 hours per week.
(i) The practice of scheduling ten (10) hour tours shall be discontinued in accordance with the language of Article L-1 (b) and (c).
(j) The hours of work for full-time Nurses working ten (10) hour tour rotations will be averaged over the master rotation schedule so that no full-time Nurse will be scheduled to work more than 1950 hours in a calendar year without premium pay provisions applying.
Ten Hour Tours. The terms and conditions of extended tours will apply except as amended by the following:
(a) For employees working ten (10) hour tours, a regular tour shall be averaged to 9.375 paid hours exclusive of a thirty seven and one half (37.5) minute unpaid meal break.
(b) Employees shall be entitled, subject to the exigencies of patient care to relief periods to a total or thirty seven and one half (37.5) minutes.
(c) In the event the employee works beyond the scheduled tour, premium payment shall apply for all hours in excess of that ten (10) hour tour.
Ten Hour Tours. (a) Nurses shall not be scheduled to work more than four (4) consecutive 9.375 hour tours. Should a nurse work more than four (4) consecutive tours, she shall be paid in accordance with Article 14.03 for all hours worked on the fifth (5th) and subsequent tours until time off is scheduled.
(b) The Hospital shall schedule the full time nurses on the ten (10) hour tours every second weekend off. Should the nurse work the second weekend, she will be paid in accordance with Article 14.03 and the local agreement.
i) such weekend has been worked by a nurse to satisfy specific days off requested by such nurse, or ii) such nurse has requested weekend work, or iii) such weekend worked is the result of an exchange of tours with another nurse.
(c) For nurses working ten (10) hour tours, a regular tour shall be 9.375 consecutive hours in any twenty-four (24) hour period, exclusive of a total of thirty-seven and one-half (37 ½) minutes of unpaid meal time. Nurses shall be entitled, subject to the exigencies of patient care, to relief periods during the tour of a total of thirty-seven and one-half (37 ½) minutes.
(d) In the event the nurse is required to stay beyond the scheduled tour, premium payment shall apply for all hours in excess of that ten hour tour.
(e) A weekend is defined as being fifty-five and three quarters (55 3/4) consecutive hours off work during the period following the completion of the Friday day shift until the commencement of the Monday day shift (0700).
Ten Hour Tours. The terms and conditions of extended tours will apply except as amended by the following:
Ten Hour Tours. The parties agree that all the terms of the Collective Agreement as outlined in the Central Document and Local Provisions shall apply, save and except those provisions modified by this article.
Ten Hour Tours. The Union and the Hospital agree in principle to the concept of ten-hour tours. Should the Hospital or the nurses wish to implement ten-hour tours on a particular unit, they shall do so according to the following criteria, initially on a test basis through the Scheduling Committee. The parties have agreed to the following terms for implementation of ten (10) hour tours. The Employer will agree to implement rotation of ten (10) hour tours in a unit when:
1. Seventy-five percent (75%) of the Nurses in the unit so indicate by secret ballot; and
2. The Employer and the Union agree to implement the ten (10) hour rotation, such agreement shall not be withheld in an unreasonable or arbitrary manner. The ten (10) hour tours may be discontinued in the units when seventy-five percent (75%) of the Nurses in the unit so indicate by secret ballot. When notice of discontinuation is given by either party in accordance with the above, then;
i) the parties shall meet within two (2) weeks of the giving of notice to review the request for the discontinuation; and
ii) where it is determined that the ten (10) hour tours will be discontinued, affected Nurses shall be given six (6) weeks’ notice before the schedules are so amended. The parties agree that all the terms of the Collective Agreement as outlined in the Central Document and Local Provisions shall apply, save and except those provisions modified by this Letter of Understanding.
