Voluntary Sick Leave Pool. The intent of the “Voluntary Sick Leave Pool” (VSLP) is to allow St. Xxxxx County School District employees to voluntarily donate their earned hours of leave for use by another employee as specified by the donor. Employees who have been employed one (1) year, in which they have earned sick leave, will qualify to donate leave hours. This program will be in addition to theSick Leave Bank” outlined in the negotiated agreements, which is intended for terminal conditions. Qualifying for this program is not predicated on membership in the “Sick Leave Bank.” An employee wishing to donate sick leave hours to an individual:  Must have been consecutively employed for more than one (1) year in a position which earns sick leave.  Must have a minimum of 160 hours of sick leave available at the time of donation.  May donate up to 24 hours per contract year. An employee who is in need of paid donated sick leave hours:  Will not be allowed more than 100 days per year of approved leave.  Must have been employee for one (1) full contract year.  Must have been on leave without pay for at least 10 days.  Must be on approved FMLA leave or Board approved medical leave of absence.  Must be in a position which earns sick leave.  Will not accrue sick leave days while being paid through the Voluntary Sick Leave Pool leave. Miscellaneous:  Donated hours which are not used, by the receiving employee will be transferred to the “Sick Leave Bank” for use in terminal conditions of members.  Employees who have been paid out (through retirement or separation from employment with the District) all sick leave, must be in unpaid status equal to the number of hours they were previously paid out, plus ten (10) additional days of unpaid leave before becoming eligible for this benefit.  The donated hours may only be used by the original recipient.  The Pool will be managed by the HR Department.  Proper forms will be developed by the District and used for the donated hours.  The donation of hours will remain anonymous, notwithstanding the Florida Sunshine Laws which may apply.

Voluntary Sick Leave Pool. Non-probationary teachers who have a significant illness or a member of the immediate family with a significant illness (using FMLA guidelines) who have exhausted his/her accumulated sick leave shall be allowed to utilize the sick leave pool pursuant to the following: Subd. 1. It is the teacher's responsibility to report to a designated official of the exclusive representative, the number of sick hours needed. Subd. 2. Teachers shall indicate on a form provided by the exclusive representative, the number of hours to be donated to the teacher. Subd. 3. The exclusive representative shall forward these forms to the appropriate District official, who shall make the necessary changes in accumulated sick leave. Subd. 4. In no instance, shall the teacher be allowed to receive sick leave hours once the teacher has qualified for LTD or is eligible to return to work. Subd. 5. A teacher who requests sick leave donations shall not have access to the grievance procedure. All donations are strictly voluntary. The District is responsible for monitoring and Subd. 6. Donation of sick leave hours to the pool shall not count as hours used for the purpose of qualifying for the Wellness Incentive of Section 1. Subd. 12 of this article.
Voluntary Sick Leave Pool. At the beginning of the fiscal year (July 1) an employee may elect to donate one half sick leave day (4 hours) to the sick leave pool. Employees hired during the course of the fiscal year will have thirty (30) days from their start date to elect to donate to the sick leave pool. Only those employees that donate leave are eligible to draw leave from the sick leave pool. In the event an employee, or a member of the employee’s family (a dependent or person for whom the employee is responsible for the care of), sustains a serious injury or illness and is under the care of a health care provider, and the employee has exhausted all banks, except YES days, the employee may seek additional sick leave from the sick leave pool, in order to maintain their salary, by way of the following procedure: 1. Submit in writing a request to access a specific number of sick leave days from the sick leave pool to the Human Resource Department using designated form. The request must include a statement from the attending health care provider. If the request is made to attend appointments with a health care provider, the employee may be required to submit verification of attendance at scheduled appointments. 2. The request will be considered by the Executive Director of Human Resources, or designee, and the Union President, or their designee(s). 3. Approved sick leave will be added to the requesting employee’s sick leave bank for use during the specified period. Unused sick leave will be returned to the sick leave pool. Days can be rescinded if proper documentation or verification is not submitted. The maximum number of days an employee may request or be awarded in sick leave days under this article is as follows: 12 month employee: 12 days 11 month employee: 11 days 10 month employee: 10 days The voluntary sick leave pool is in no way to be used in lieu of or in conjunction with Extended Sick Bank. Unused days in the pool will carry-over from year to year and will not expire at the end of the fiscal year (June 30). Once the pool is exhausted, no other requests can be considered for that year. A report will be given to the Union from Human Resources showing the usage and stating the balance at the end of each fiscal year.

Submit in writing a request to access a specific number of sick leave days from the sick leave pool to the Executive Director of Employee Services. The request must include a statement from the attending health care provider, and an explanation of the reason(s) the request should be considered. 2. The request will be considered by the Executive Director of Employee Services and the Union President, or their designee(s). 3. Approved sick leave will be added to the requesting employee’s sick leave bank for use during the specified period of disability. Unused sick leave will be returned to the sick leave pool. Employees are not to request or be awarded additional sick leave exceeding their yearly allocation of sick days. The voluntary sick leave pool is in no way to be used in lieu of or in conjunction with Extended Sick Bank. Unused days in the pool will expire at the end of the fiscal year (June 30). Once the pool is exhausted, no other requests can be considered for that year.

  • Sick Leave Pool The purpose of the emergency sick leave pool is to furnish additional sick days for certified staff under the negotiated agreement. This leave can only be used during the school year after the teacher has exhausted all regular accumulated sick leave and discretionary leave. Leave will be granted for catastrophic illness or injury of the employee only, on a first-come, first-ask basis. The emergency sick leave pool will be funded by the days certified staff has over the 80-day maximum sick leave this is given to each employee on July 1 of each year. All days over the 80-day accumulated sick leave the employees receive will be put into an emergency sick leave pool with an accumulation not to exceed 80 days for the pool. The maximum number of emergency sick leave pool days that may be accumulated during the school year is 20 days. A written application along with a physician’s statement documenting the nature of the catastrophic illness or injury must be sent to the building principal. The Emergency Sick Leave Pool Committee will meet within 10 calendar days after receiving the application to consider the request. The application may be sent to the building principal before the employee’s regular sick leave ends. The Emergency Sick Leave Pool Committee will consist of six members. One member from each of the four schools (“Primary, Intermediate, Middle, and High School”) the Superintendent and the building principal from the building of the applicant. All members will meet to determine ach request; however, the committee member representing the same building as the applicant will not vote. The building principal and superintendent will vote in all cases. The committee members will serve for a period of two years. The Primary and Middle School members will be elected on even calendar years and the Intermediate and the High School members will be elected on odd calendar years. If a member of the committee leaves the employment of the USD 210 before the end of his/her term, the committee will appoint a new committee member form the affected building. The committee members will be in place by September 1 of each year. The emergency sick leave bank may not be used to cover employees who are receiving pay, salary protection payments, and disability insurance payments or are eligible to receive compensation from workers’ compensation or KPERS disability.

  • Accrued 100% sick leave The use of sick leave under this subsection is at the employee's discretion.

  • Paid Sick Leave For those jurisdictions that have passed or will pass legislation requiring Paid Sick Leave, Paid Sick Time will be billed back to Client at the straight-time bill rate for all hours taken by any Consultant assigned to Client. This section is not applicable until the effective date of such legislation has been reached.

  • Sick Leave Payout No cash payment for unused sick leave will be paid to any employee leaving the service of the Employer.

  • Sick Leave Usage 1. Sick leave may be used by an employee when sick, injured, or quarantined. Also sick leave may be used on the occasion of an illness in the employee's family, where a need can be shown. 2. In computing compensation payable for sick leave, the compensation paid shall be the amount the employee would earn during the sick leave period if working at their current rate of pay and work schedule without the inclusion of overtime earnings.

  • Sick Leave Pay A Nurse granted sick leave shall be paid for the period of such leave at her or his regular hourly rate of pay and the number of hours thus paid shall be deducted from the accumulated sick leave credits of the Nurse.

  • Sick Leave Cash Out Eligible employees may elect to receive monetary compensation for accrued sick leave as follows: In January of each year an employee whose sick leave balance at the end of the previous year exceeds four hundred eighty (480) hours may elect to convert the sick leave hours earned in the previous calendar year, minus those hours used during the year, to monetary compensation. No sick leave hours may be converted which would reduce the calendar year end balance below four hundred eighty (480) hours. Monetary compensation shall be paid at the rate of twenty-five percent and shall be based on the employee’s current salary. All converted hours will be deducted from the sick leave balance. Employees who separate from University service due to retirement or death shall be compensated for the unused sick leave accumulation from the date of most recent hire in a leave eligible position with the State of Washington at the rate of 25%. Compensation shall be based upon the employee’s wage at the time of separation. For the purpose of this section, retirement shall not include vested out of service employees who leave funds on deposit with the retirement system. Former eligible employees who are re-employed within three (3) years of their separation from service shall be granted all unused sick leave credits, if any, to which they are entitled at time of separation.

  • Sick Leave Accrual All eligible employees shall accrue sick leave at the rate of four (4) hours per pay period of continuous employment beginning with their date of eligibility. Eligible employees being paid for less than a full eighty (80) hour pay period shall have sick leave accruals pro-rated in accord with the schedule set forth in Appendix D.

  • Sick Leave Allowance Faculty with a full-time assignment shall accrue sick leave at the rate of eight

  • Deductions from Sick Leave A deduction shall be made from accumulated sick leave of all normal working days (exclusive of holidays) absent for sick leave.
