Shift Overtime. Time worked by any Employee in excess of a scheduled tour of duty shall be counted toward the total hours worked in a work period in computing overtime, except that work time expended for voluntary relief or voluntary holdover time at the end of a tour of duty (short term duty exchange), shall not be considered overtime. Time spent on paid leave except compensatory time shall count as hours worked for the purpose of computing overtime under this section 10.2.B.
Shift Overtime. Where the overtime is not directly related to activities begun by an officer during the officer’s regular shift, and where the planned overtime is anticipated to be four (4) hours or more in duration, the overtime shall be offered, in the order of seniority, to officers in the reporting unit. Once each eligible officer has had the opportunity to work shift overtime in a pay period, officers may once again use their seniority to work shift overtime as described above, and the seniority list shall rotate in the same fashion thereafter for the balance of the pay period. The City shall maintain a list in each reporting unit upon which officers must place their names indicating a willingness to work shift overtime. If an officer is incorrectly passed over for shift overtime, the officer shall be allowed to work a makeup overtime assignment within the next two pay periods following the discovery of the error. The officer and the Bureau shall mutually agree upon the makeup overtime assignment, which shall not displace another officer’s already-selected overtime assignment. An officer who has been incorrectly passed over shall not be otherwise entitled to compensation for the missed overtime. This section shall not apply to overtime assignments of which the City has less than twenty-four (24) hours’ notice.
Shift Overtime. Shift overtime shall, to the extent possible, be first offered to members of the shift. This section does not guarantee an equal allocation of overtime, but rather, requires that the Sergeants use their best efforts, given the operational needs of the department, to distribute overtime opportunities among the members of the shift as equitably as is practical.

Shift Overtime. The administrative lieutenant shall be eligible for shift overtime on evenings, weekends, and holidays in accordance with the contractual overtime assignment policies. If the administrative lieutenant works shift overtime, he shall be paid at the same overtime rate that he would have been paid if he was shift lieutenant, i.e., the applicable overtime rate shall be based on an annual work year of 2,600 hours.

(b) When a continuous shift employee is required to work overtime which extends beyond one hour after the usual finishing time he/she shall be allowed a meal break of 20 minutes which shall be counted as time worked and supplied with a meal or paid $5.40. (c) For shift employees other than continuous shift employees, where less than four consecutive afternoon or four consecutive night shifts are worked in any one week, employees employed on such afternoon or night shifts shall be paid for such shifts at overtime rates.
Shift Overtime. A. The Friday graveyard shift ending on Saturday morning will be considered Friday work. The Saturday graveyard shift ending on Sunday morning will be considered Saturday work. The Sunday graveyard shift ending on Monday morning will be considered Sunday work. It is agreed that the Contractors and the Union may mutually agree upon different starting or quitting times for any of the above mentioned shift arrangements, per bid specifications. B. Any employee reporting for work at the regular starting time and for whom no work is provided, shall receive pay for two (2) hours at the stipulated rate for so reporting unless he has been notified before the end of the previous shift not to report, and any employee who reports for work and for whom work is provided shall receive not less than four (4) hours’ pay and if more than four hours are worked in any one day, shall receive not less than six (6) hours’ pay and if more than six (6) hours worked in any one day, shall receive not less than eight (8) hours’ pay therefore, unless prevented from working for reasons beyond the control of the Contractor, including but not limited to, such factors as inclement weather, or breakdown causing discontinuance of a major unit of the project during which time the employees are not required or requested to remain on the project by the Contractor or his agent. If an employee reports for work, and has not been told by the Employer that there will be no work due to an interruption, the employee shall be paid two (2) hours show-up pay at the applicable rate. If the employee is assigned work, and there is an interruption of the work, beyond the control of the Employer, as stated above, the employee shall receive a minimum of four (4) hours at the applicable rate. If the Employee has worked more than four (4) hours, and less than eight (8) hours, and there is a discontinuance of work, beyond the control of the employer, the employee shall receive actual hours worked at the applicable rate. C. Employees shall travel to and from the job on their own time and by means of their own transportation. The employee shall not be required to carry material or company tools at any time in their private automobile. D. Shift Overtime. A. When overtime is required to cover a patrol shift for either officers or dispatchers, volunteers will be sought based on seniority order unless the time frame is less than 24 hours from the shift that needs to be covered. In the event no employee volunteers to cover the shift, an employee will be mandated to work based on inverse seniority. In the event that no dispatcher volunteers to cover a vacant shift, officers will be afforded the opportunity to volunteer, in seniority order prior to mandating a dispatcher to work.

Shift Overtime. A shift premium of $.85 cents per hour shall be paid on the afternoon shift and $1.15 per hour on the night shift. Effective June 1, 2009, a shift premium of $.90 cents per hour shall be paid on afternoon shift and $1.25 per hour on the night shift. These premiums shall not be pyramided with overtime.
