The company may require the employee to reimburse the company for education costs if the employee leaves the employ of the Company before a specified period. This agreement will be made prior to the employee incurring the obligation.

Courses taken must be directly related to the on-the-job performance of the employee's present or potential future assignments. Advance approval by the Company is required before the employees enroll in courses for which they expect to be reimbursed costs by Transwest. In order to be eligible for Transwest to pay course costs, the employee must complete the course in full and remain in the employ of Transwest until the course is completed. Furthermore, in courses where a grade is applied, a passing grade must be received in order to receive tuition reimbursement. If a passing grade is not achieved, no reimbursement will be paid. The Company shall pay for all authorized industrial first aid courses as well as all required refresher courses for designated first-aid attendants. Where there is no outside work hours program offered in the specific location of the employees, the Company agrees to pay for actual hours scheduled to a first aid certificate. Company approval is required before the employee incurs the obligation. Sick time to a maximum of forty eight (48) hours per calendar year will be paid to eligible employees, at their regular rate of pay. Transwest reserves the right to not pay for unjustified sick days and to request medical confirmation of an employee's sickness. A doctor's note will be required for sickness lasting three (3) or more work days in duration and if an employee misses his flight in, due to sickness. There is no carryover of sick time from previous years.

EDUCATION FOR UPGRADING. The parties agree that education is the key to the advancement of the Compressor Division with its clients. To this part the employer is committed to advance the education of its technicians as a priority. Training will generally be planned in advance. The parties further agree to jointly develop a training plan that is targeted to the needs of the technicians. The current 40 hour training regiment will be made available on an annual basis or the employer will provide a 53rd week of payroll to payout the 40 hours or remaining balance thereof.

Where an employee cannot attend weekend or evening classes, due to shift scheduling, then the Company shall pay the employee for all hours missed while attending First Aid courses.
EDUCATION FOR UPGRADING. (a) Employees who are assigned to attend training courses in the Vancouver Area will be compensated as follows:
(i) Straight time wages will be paid for the time spent at the training course based on the employee’s regularly scheduled shift. If the employee is attending all or part of the training on his days off, alternate days off will be scheduled immediately before and / or after the training days. Such days off could be scheduled at another time, by mutual agreement. If an employee wishes to work his regular shift instead of taking the alternate days off, the regular shift hours would be paid at straight time rates.
(ii) If the training course is at Xxxxxxx, and the duration is scheduled to be five (5) hours or less, the employee will start or complete the day performing his regular duties.
(iii) Travel time to and from the course will not be paid.
(iv) A fifteen dollar ($15) meal allowance will be paid if the course does not include a meal during the meal break.
(v) The employee may submit an expense claim with receipts for vehicle parking and any pre-approved supplies required to attend the course.
(vi) The employee is expected to use their own vehicle for transportation to these courses, and they will be compensated at a rate of forty-four ($0.44) per km based on the distance from the Xxxxxxx shop to the training course site, and return, per course day.
(b) Employees who are assigned to attend training courses outside the Vancouver Area will be compensated as follows:
(i) Straight time wages will be paid for the time spent at the training course based on the employee’s regularly scheduled shift hours. (iii) A sixty-five dollar ($65) per diem will be paid for all course days plus travel days to cover meals and other incidental expenses.
