Internal Postings. Internal postings will be made through the University’s e-mail system, with a link to the appropriate page on the University’s website. These e-mails will be copied to the Faculty Association. Qualified applicants currently in the Sessional Academic Staff Member bargaining unit, or who have been employed in the bargaining unit within the past 13 months, may submit an application for consideration, along with updated application materials at the member's discretion or as required, in accordance with the provisions of Article 17.6 below.
Internal Postings. When a vacancy is to be filled, after the consecutive day off re-bid in section 15.2 above, a supervisor in the unit is to notify the employees of the same classification of the available position and shift. Employees in the bargaining unit are to be given the opportunity to bid on the vacant position. Off duty employees shall be contacted by work email for their response. The position shall be awarded to the senior qualified employee or posted office wide, if no bids have been recorded. The internal posting procedure is an informal process designed to give shift assignment options to current employees without hindering the hiring process. The procedure can be accomplished in a variety of ways. A list can be used where employees initial their interest or disinterest in the position. The entire process should conclude in less than seventy-two (72) hours. If an employee has not responded affirmatively or negatively to the supervisor's communication or if the employee does not respond to work email messages, the opportunity to bid for the position is lost. The internal posting procedure can also be used to bid for days off on a shift within the same work unit.
