INTERNSHIP PROGRAMS. ‌ Where for employment equity or work experience program purposes the University intends to establish a position within the scope of the bargaining unit, there must be mutual agreement regarding the creation and terms of the assignment including rates of pay before it can proceed. The internship will be classified as either a casual or temporary assignment under the terms of this agreement. Internship positions will be in addition to the department or unit’s existing regular full time and part time positions. In no case will the hiring of a intern result in the termination, layoff, or reduction of scheduled hours of a regular employee. Appointments of interns are time limited and/or subject to the availability of specific grant funding.

INTERNSHIP PROGRAMS. The Employer may provide, upon application by an employee, an internship program, which will enable the employee to meet requirements for administrator credentials and/or qualifications for supervisory and other special positions. Application for internship programs shall be submitted to the Superintendent, in writing, at least thirty (30) calendar days prior to commencement of the requested internship program. Applications will be reviewed and candidates for internship will be interviewed by a panel of administrators appointed by the Superintendent.
INTERNSHIP PROGRAMS. The recipient should plan and manage an undergraduate summer internship program for disadvantaged minority students that emphasizes the two categories of specialization: Category I—training in biostatistics and epidemiology where plans will be developed to train students at CDC Centers, Institute, and Offices (CIOs) and other locations as appropriate, and Category IIoccupational safety and health where plans will be developed to train students in the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) laboratories.
