LEAVES Section 1 – Sick Leave. 1.1 Full-time bargaining unit members employed five (5) days a week for a full work year of service shall be entitled to ten (10) days of sick leave. Bargaining unit members employed less than full time and/or for less than a full work year of service shall be entitled to that proportion of ten (10) days’ sick leave as the amount of employment bears to full time. 1.2 Unit members may use the sick leave provided in Section 1.1 above for the purposes of illness or injury, or for the purposes described in the Healthy Workplaces, Healthy Families Act of 2014 which includes the diagnosis, care or treatment of an existing health condition or preventive care for an employee or an employee’s family member or for specified purposes for an employee who is a victim of domestic violence, sexual assault or stalking. A family member is defined for the purposes of the Healthy Workplaces, Healthy Families Act of 2014 to include the employee’s parent, child, spouse, registered domestic partner, grandparent, grandchild, and sibling. 1.3 The sick leave entitlement for the year shall be credited to the unit member at the beginning of the year. Unused sick leave shall be accumulated from year to year. 1.4 Members of the unit who are absent must follow procedures established by the District to notify their school or department of their impending absence, and the anticipated duration of the absence. Teaching members of the unit must notify the District of absence as soon as the necessity to be absent becomes known to the unit member, but must call in no later than ninety minutes prior to the unit member’s first teaching period of the day of the absence. For unit members assigned other than a classroom assignment, said notification must be made not later than the start of the work day. 1.5 Whenever possible, teaching members of the unit shall notify their school secretary or automated substitute system by 2:00 p.m. of the day of absence if they are unable to return from the absence. 1.6 Repeated failure to follow the procedures provided in Sections 1.4 and 1.5 above will be cause for ineligibility for the paid leave in question. 1.7 The Superintendent or designee may require, whenever in his/her opinion the efficiency of and general welfare of district operations require it, a unit member to provide a written statement from a medical doctor verifying the nature and degree of the illness. LEAVES Section 1 – Sick Leave. It is the expectation of both the University and the Union that utilization of sick leave benefits shall only occur when an employee is sick to the extent that he or she is unable to perform their regular job duties. Sick leave shall not be used in place of other paid leaves. Sick leave’s sole purpose is to provide income insurance to employee’s for lost time due to illness or injury. The parties are jointly committed to minimizing interruption of service caused by the absence of employees. Employees will earn sick leave at the rate of 4.6 hours for each eighty (80) hours in active pay status. Sick leave may be granted only with the written approval of the employee's supervisor only for the following reasons. Employees must sign a sick leave request form stating a satisfactory reason for the request. The employer's approval is discretionary. A. Illness or injury of the employee or a member of the employee's immediate family. B. Death of a member of the employee's immediate family, not to exceed five (5) work days. C. Medical, dental or optical examinations of the employee or the employee's immediate family if such examinations cannot be conducted during the employee's off-duty hours. The employee will furnish the employee's supervisor with proof of the need for the examination during working hours. D. If an employee is afflicted with or exposed to a contagious disease, and the presence of that employee would jeopardize other employees as stated in writing by a physician, that employee shall take sick leave.
LEAVES Section 1 – Sick Leave. 4.1.1 Employees shall be allowed twelve (12) sick, injury, and emergency leave days at the beginning (front loaded) of the school year. Sick leave shall be allotted on a pro rata basis for education employees entering service during the school year. Sick leave may be used for the employee or the employee’s family members. Sick leave may be used as emergency leave and shall be deducted from the employee’s accrued sick leave balance. The situation requiring use of emergency leave must be serious, essentially unavoidable, where preplanning is not possible, of major importance, and not for the mere convenience of the employee. 4.1.2 An employee on sick leave for more than five (5) consecutive days may be required to submit to the building principal a written statement from his/her health care provider attesting to the need to be on sick leave and probable date of return to work. Employees who abuse the provisions of this section shall be subject to disciplinary action, which could include loss of pay.

  • Paid Sick Leave For those jurisdictions that have passed or will pass legislation requiring Paid Sick Leave, Paid Sick Time will be billed back to Client at the straight-time bill rate for all hours taken by any Consultant assigned to Client. This section is not applicable until the effective date of such legislation has been reached.

An employee must have a minimum of twenty-five (25) days of accumulated sick leave remaining after the payment for unused sick leave under this section. 2. The payment of this incentive shall be paid to eligible employees no later than October 31st of the school year following the school year in which the employee qualified for the incentive pay. 3. For purposes of this section, sick leave shall be defined pursuant to all sections of F.S.1012.61. 4. Days for which such award payment is received shall be deducted from the accumulated leave balance. 5. Payment shall be equal to the number of eligible days times the affected employees daily rate of base pay times eighty percent (80%).

  • Vacations and Sick Leave The Executive shall be entitled to paid annual vacation leave in accordance with the policies as established from time to time by the Board of Directors, which shall in no event be less than four weeks per annum. The Executive shall also be entitled to an annual sick leave benefit as established by the Board for senior management employees of the Bank. The Executive shall not be entitled to receive any additional compensation from the Bank for failure to take a vacation or sick leave, nor shall he be able to accumulate unused vacation or sick leave from one year to the next; provided, however, such Executive may carry forward from year to year a maximum of ten days of unused vacation leave.

  • Vacation and Sick Leave During the Term, Executive shall be entitled to (a) sick leave in accordance with the Company’s policies applicable to similarly situated executive officers of the Company from time to time and (b) 4 weeks paid vacation each calendar year (up to 40 hours of which may be carried forward to a succeeding year).

  • Sick Leave Without Pay Sick leave without pay shall be granted to an employee who does not qualify for sick leave with pay or who is unable to return to work at the termination of the period for which sick leave with pay is granted by mutual agreement of the parties hereto.

  • Approved Leave of Absence With Pay During Vacation When an employee is qualified for bereavement leave, sick leave or any other approved leave with pay during her vacation period, there shall be no deduction from the vacation credits for such leave. In the case of sick leave, this section shall only apply when the period of illness or injury is in excess of two (2) days and a note from a physician may be required. The period of vacation so displaced shall be taken at a mutually agreed time. An employee intending to claim displaced vacation leave must advise the Employer and provide necessary documentation within seven (7) days of returning to work.

  • SICK LEAVE WITH PAY Sick leave with pay for employees shall be determined in the following manner:

  • Sick Leave 1. Employees will be granted one (1) day for each month of their contract year. The days granted will be available as of the first official day of the school year or the contract, whichever is applicable. 2. Sick leave may be accrued to the amount earned which shall be shown on each salary check. 3. The Board may require proof of illness whenever there is reasonable cause to believe that an absence is not due to a bona fide illness. 4. Days of accrued sick leave may be used to assist in the health care of persons who live in the employee's household, or to care for a parent, spouse, or a child regardless of their residence or for other relatives requested in writing and approved by the Superintendent/Designee prior to the leave. The Board may require proof of illness under the same requirements as the employee’s illness. 5. The absences in excess of available sick leave, deductions from salary shall be at the rate of 1/182 for Food Services Employees and 1/189 for Food Services Managers in excess of the number provided. 6. Employees hired prior to July 1, 1997: Employee will be paid for unused sick days in the following manner: a. Payment for unused sick days will be made to the employee upon that employee’s early or full service retirement or, upon the employee’s death, to the employee’s estate. Employees eligible for early or full service retirement who resign from employment and do not receive a retirement benefit, shall forfeit all rights to payment for unused sick days. b. Employees, who have a balance of less than 250 unused sick days as of June 30, 2002, will receive payment for 50% of the employee’s accumulated unused sick days up to a maximum of 250 unused days at their average daily rate*. c. Employees who have a balance of unused sick days greater then 250 days as of June 30, 2002, will receive payment for 50% of the employee’s accumulated unused sick days up to their June 30, 2002, unused sick leave balance, at their average daily rate*. d. Payments for unused sick days in amounts greater than $5,000 will be paid in equal amounts over five consecutive years beginning with the year of retirement. e. Payments for unused sick days in the amount at $5,000 or less or for the death of an employee will be paid in a lump sum to the employee or the employee’s estate in the year of retirement or death.
