Member safety. 6.01.1 In order to provide for member safety, the district on the first day of each school year shall present a written copy of the District policy for student discipline, including the rights of suspended students. A copy of the member’s right to suspend under the Education Code, Section 48900, shall also be distributed to the members. Any revision of the above information necessitated by a change in law shall be communicated to the members upon adoption by the District. Teachers may suspend students in accordance with the Education Code. 6.01.2 Members shall report as soon as possible cases of assault and battery (as defined by the Penal code) suffered by them in connection with their employment, to their site/program administrator or other immediate superior who shall immediately report the incident to the police. Such notification shall immediately be forwarded to the Superintendent. The Superintendent or designee shall comply with any reasonable request from the unit member for information in the possession of the District, unless confidential, relating to the incident or persons involved. 6.01.3 A member shall not be required to engage in any activity that can reasonably be deemed hazardous to life and limb. Should the situation involve student health and/or safety, members may be requested to assist. 6.01.4 The District shall make every reasonable effort to provide Nurses and Speech Language Pathologists with access to adequate space that provides them with confidential facilities and regular school site supplies to meet the needs of students in schools where such services are provided.

Such notification shall immediately be forwarded to the Superintendent. The Superintendent/designee shall comply with any reasonable request from the unit member for information in the possession of the District, unless confidential relating to the incident or persons involved.
Member safety. The District is committed to maximizing Member safety and believes safety is every Member's responsibility. 12.1 A Member shall not be required to work under unsafe or hazardous conditions or to perform tasks which endanger his/her health, safety, or well-being. 12.1.1 A Member shall be responsible to report, in writing (except in emergencies), to his/her immediate supervisor, any unsafe, hazardous, unhealthy, or potentially dangerous working conditions. In the case of an emergency, the Member shall still report in writing the unsafe conditions as soon as possible. The District shall take reasonable steps to investigate and, where necessary, correct the hazard or unsafe condition. If necessary and available, an alternative workspace shall be provided until repairs are completed. 12.2 The District has confidence in the professional ethics and competence of its certificated Members. The District is committed to investigating complaints or charges, and to protect the legitimate interests of all parties involved. 12.2.1. A Member may use reasonable force as is necessary to protect himself/herself from attack, to protect another person or property, to quell a disturbance threatening physical injury to others, or to obtain possession of weapons or other dangerous objects upon the person or within control of a pupil.
Member safety. Host Site is required to take reasonable steps to ensure member safety during service. Host Site is expected to conduct appropriate background and reference checks on the site supervisor(s) and other staff working with the AmeriCorps member(s) and beneficiaries of [AmeriCorps Program] activities, in accordance with the National Service Criminal History Check requirements and Host Site’s own organizational policies. Site supervisor(s) should be trained in member safety, including the use and availability of CPR, first aid kits and portable defibrillators (if available) and the location of storm shelters. Members should also be provided with this information during their onsite orientation. Host Site should also have a plan for site and personal health-related safety concerns. Host Site should also consider safety precautions for service activities and projects, as needed that may include things such as time of day, lighting and location, seasonal weather issues, road conditions, and appropriate safety protocols for service activities (including attendance of trained personnel).

The District and Association are jointly committed to maintaining a safe, harassment-free workplace for students and staff. The District and Association encourage positive communication and discourage actions that impede a positive educational environment. If necessary and available, an alternative workspace shall be provided until repairs are completed. 12.1.2 The District will make every effort to provide the space determined to be necessary to adequately and safely provide services to students. 12.1.3 The District shall strive towards every classroom having properly conditioned air, working telephone, internet access and occupant load sign. Members working extra duty assignments where extra communication devices are needed to ensure student and Member safety will be provided such devices. 12.1.4 Itinerant Members may check out keys that will be available for the rooms being used by them for the day from the main office. It is the responsibility of the Member to return the key at the end of the day or prior to leaving for the day. 12.2 The District has confidence in the professional ethics and competence of its certificated Members. Member safety. The Club is committed to providing a safe and secure environment for our members, our employees, and the public. The Club is a multi-state and multi-jurisdictional operation and, therefore, is subject to the laws and regulations of those areas. This safety policy is automatically amended to meet those laws and regulations. Weapons, of any type, are not permitted within the passenger compartment of the vehicle at any time. When allowed by law, weapons may be transported in the trunk of the vehicle. All firearms must be unloaded and within a proper case. All explosive devices or materials, except for firearm ammunition, are prohibited. All weapons must be removed from the vehicle at the conclusion of the transport. Your Chauffeur will adhere to all policies and regulations and has the option to refuse transport of any weapon at any time. Seat Belts and Child Restraints are required while being transported. Member must provide car and booster seats for children as required by law. Car seats and booster seats must be removed upon arrival at the destination as both interior and trunk space must be available for other members. Member is responsible for securing their guests.
Member safety. A. HEA members shall not be required to work in conditions that are known to be unsafe or to perform tasks that endanger their health, safety, or well-being. Unit members shall report such conditions, when they are known, to their administrator. The district shall accordingly comply with all applicable requirements under the Illinois Occupational Safety and Health Act. B. HEA members have a responsibility to advise administration of any condition, which a responsible person would consider unsafe. HEA members will be advised by C. If student misbehavior directly causes damage to or loss of personal effects or personal instructional property in the course of HEA members’ duties, the district shall reimburse them for the cost or replacement of all items. D. HEA members who are victims of an assault that has occurred in the course of their duties shall report the incident to their building administration as soon as they can.

All incidents shall be reported to the appropriate law enforcement agency by the teacher and/or administrator. B. SCOE shall investigate all reports of physical assault. C. In cases of physical assault the administration shall assist the teacher in the notification of proper authorities and assist the employee in completing all written reports. D. If requested the certificated employee shall receive a written response within five (5) work days, stating what will be done, or if no action will be taken, the reason why. E. The Site Based Decision-Making model will be used to review safety issues by March 1 each year and make necessary recommendations regarding safety at school sites. Principals will regularly seek input from employees in their programs on necessary safety procedures and will make an annual report on safety issues to the Superintendent. Particular attention will be devoted to isolated classes and instructors will be invited to recommend updates to established safety plan procedures.
