Preparation/Planning Time. 6.5.1 Preparation/Planning Time for each full time 4th and 5th Grade Teachers: During a standard five-day work week which includes Modified Wednesdays, each full time regular Teacher in grades 4 - 5 shall be provided a minimum of one hundred thirty (130) minutes per week of planning/preparation time. 4th, 5th Grade Teachers and all Elementary/Middle School Special Education Teachers: Each 4-5 teacher and Special Education Teacher shall be provided one (1) planning day per trimester/quarter and not to exceed three (3) per school year. Planning/preparation time shall be used for preparation, planning, and other duties related to the Teacher's professional responsibilities and/or current practice existing at the school site of assignment. 4th, 5th Grade Teachers and all Elementary/Middle School Special Education Teachers: Each 4/5 teacher and Special Education will receive up to ten (10) extra duty hours of planning time each year at Extra Duty of Rate of Pay in accordance with Article XIII Salaries, Section 13.7. These hours shall be taken outside the regular school day by mutual agreement with the site administrator.
Preparation/Planning Time. The ExtendEd Program will provide each ExtendEd Associate one-half (1/2) hour per workday for the purpose of preparation/planning. The scheduling of this time will be at a time when the Associate is not with children. No overtime can be paid for this purpose. The schedule of these hours will be determined between the Associate and the Program Administrator.
Preparation/Planning Time. Secondary Teacher preparation time and Elementary Teacher planning time shall not be used for faculty meetings, professional development, training, or other administrative assignments without the unanimous agreement of those involved in the activity.
Preparation/Planning Time. The District will provide duty free preparation-planning time for each employee on all full school days in the following amounts: Grade 6-12: A total of no less than one (1) regularly scheduled period during each workday.* Grades K-5: No less than thirty (30) continuous minutes per workday.* Preschool: No less than 2.5 hours per week. K-5 Specialists: * K-5 specialists will have no less than thirty (30) continuous minutes per workday. Specialists shall have at least an equal number of planning minutes per week as other general education teachers during standard weeks. A process to establish planning schedules for all school days will be developed within each building. To reduce the K-5 work load, teachers at RPS and GMES will each be assigned one hour of teacher directed educational assistant time per full work week. Efforts will be made to assign a consistent time for each teacher; however, schedule changes will occur, and time may be reduced on shortened weeks, conference weeks and in emergency situations. If the District requests any employee to give up planning time to cover instruction in another class during any school year due to lack of substitutes, the District will compensate said employee at the per diem rate. Time will be paid in increments of .25 hour and paid in the December pay period for August-December and the June pay period for January-June. This does not include teachers covering for one another.
Preparation/Planning Time. Each teacher shall have non-classroom time, the use of which shall be determined by the employee, provided it is used for preparation, planning, grading, or parent conferencing, as follows:
1. Grades 7-12 teachers shall have at least one student instruction period of such time per day.
2. Grades K-6 teachers shall have 225 minutes per week and the District goal will be to achieve 45 continuous minutes per day when possible. Employees are guaranteed at least one (1) block of 30 continuous minutes per day.
Preparation/Planning Time. The District will provide duty free preparation-planning time for each employee on all full school days in the following amounts: Grade 6-12: A total of no less than one (1) regularly scheduled period during each workday.* 1. *K-5 specialists will have no less than forty (40) continuous minutes per workday or the equivalent of 200 minutes per week planning during standard weeks. Specialists shall have at least an equal number of planning minutes per week as other general education teachers during standard weeks. Daily planning time may be divided into no more than 2 segments, one of which would be no less than 30 minutes. Specialists shall have at least an equal number of planning minutes per week as other general education teachers during standard weeks.
Preparation/Planning Time. The parties agree that it is important that unit members be afforded an opportunity during workday for preparation and planning. Accordingly, the District shall attempt to preserve the period between 8:00 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. of each workday for unit members' classroom preparation and shall make an attempt, consistent with the educational best interest of the students of the District, to provide unit members with planning time during the instructional day through use of support personnel (i.e.: music, PE, computers, etc.). Unit members may leave immediately after all professional duties and responsibilities have been completed as stated in 8.5 – 8.7. A unit member’s workday consists of 7.5 hours. Of those hours, approximately 6.5 hours will be during the regularly scheduled school day as student contact time. Unit members may flex the remaining hour as part of their professional day. This may be in the morning, after school, or in the evenings at the discretion of the unit member. A minimum school day shall be scheduled each Monday that school is normally in session. During such minimum days, unit members shall perform on campus preparation, planning, and other professional activities after the end of the student day (1:00 p.m.), consistent with Article 8.2 of the parties Collective Bargaining Agreement. Generally two of the Mondays per month will be meeting free except for emergency meetings as determined by the superintendent.
Preparation/Planning Time. Full time Certificated employees shall receive 250 minutes of planning time within the student day per five (5) day work week, of which at least 30 minutes per day will be continuous. Preparation time shall be used at the employee’s professional discretion. Part-time Certificated employees will receive planning time proportional to their teaching day. Occasionally, planning time may be lost due to schedule changes or a shortened workweek. Regularly occurring (weekly, monthly) meetings shall not occur during planning periods. Principals may schedule up to three (3) focus and five (5) comprehensive individual evaluation related meetings with employees during a school/work year. Employees who substitute during their planning period will be paid $45.00 per period
1. Each teacher is expected to assume a fair share of responsibility for the operation of the school, the guidance and counseling of students, and the sponsorship and support of the student activity program within the contracted work day.
2. There is a shared responsibility with the total building staff for supervision and maintenance of order. Teachers are responsible for assigning and evaluating the work of the students, based on specific standards, and for promptly returning such evaluation to students.
Preparation/Planning Time. (i) Each Teacher at the elementary level shall receive preparation and planning time free of duties for use at the professional discretion of the Teacher. For every one- thousand five hundred (1500) minutes of instructional time, a Teacher shall receive the following amount of preparation and planning time:
(ii) A Teacher’s right to an equal amount of time (as per article 11.
01 a) shall be provided in each case as the school day is organized for each year.
(iii) Notwithstanding other provisions in this collective agreement, the Board may assign the additional teaching staff generated by the increase in elementary teacher preparation time above the 2008-09 level to enable full-time school based teaching assignments in the Arts in more than one elementary school. This shall be done in consultation with the Joint Staffing Committee.
(iv) Notwithstanding other provisions in this collective agreement, the additional weekly minutes of preparation time above the 2008-09 level generated within twenty (20) consecutive instructional days, may be aggregated to provide for meaningful blocks of preparation time for teachers.
Preparation/Planning Time a. The term “preparation” or “planning time” shall mean work time during the student day in the elementary (K-4), exclusive of the professional staff member’s (teacher’s) daily duty-free lunch period. This time may be used by the professional staff (teacher) for any teacher-related duties. Provided that for high school, middle school and elementary school teachers, no more than one
(1) preparation/planning period per non-pay period week shall be used for collaborative/data meetings among grade or department levels as determined by the building principal.
b. The elementary (K-4) staff shall receive planning time of two hundred (200) minutes per week.
c. The secondary and middle school professional staff members (teacher)(5-12) shall be provided with one (1) unassigned preparation period daily or five (5) per week during the staff work day each equivalent to forty-two (42) minutes.
d. Special area elementary professional staff members (teacher of art, music, physical education) shall be provided with one (1) unassigned preparation period daily or five (5) per week, each equivalent to the same length as a student regular class period.
e. A teacher serving on a Superintendent approved committee which meets during preparation time or outside of the regular school day shall be compensated at the rate of twenty-five dollars ($25.00) per hour, with a minimum stipend of twenty-five dollars ($25.00) per meeting upon submission and approval of a time-sheet for time expended.
