Teacher Planning Time. All teachers, K-12, will receive a minimum of 250 minutes of preparation time per week, excluding the time before and after the student day. All prep time shall be in no less than thirty (30) minute blocks. Part-time teachers will receive proportionate time.
Teacher Planning Time. Except where delay of the normal start of school due to calamity (fog, snow, loss of heat, flood, etc.) interferes, all employees in grades 6-12 shall be scheduled not less than two hundred (200) minutes of teacher planning time per week. Part-time employees will receive a prorated period consistent with the prorated salary. Certificated employees in pre-Kindergarten through 5 shall be scheduled for not fewer than two hundred (200) minutes per week for planning time within the employee's work day. Where scheduling will permit, up to a forty (40) minute planning period per day will be provided. Any duty-free recess time shall not be counted.
Teacher Planning Time. Wherever administratively possible, teacher programs shall follow these guidelines:
Teacher Planning Time. 1. PreK-5 Level: Every teacher will receive a minimum of 300 minutes a week, with a minimum of 60 consecutive minutes per day, for the purpose of individual planning and preparation, with any variation to be approved between the principal and teacher. Teachers who agree to nonconsecutive plan time will be excused from before-school, lunch, and after-school duty, and no single plan period will be fewer than 30 minutes in length, during student/teacher contact time. Principals may, at their discretion with 48 hours advanced notice, conduct grade level meetings with teachers up to two times per month not to exceed 30 minutes in length during teacher plan time.
2. Secondary Level: Every teacher will receive a minimum of one regularly scheduled class period per day for the purpose of individual planning and preparation. Additional plan time will be provided on one district professional development day per quarter in the amount of four hours, for a total of 16 hours in the school calendar year. Any change in the current plan time will be brought back for negotiation in the spring prior to the change.
Teacher Planning Time. 1. The Bonneville Joint School District No. 93 Board of Trustees expects teachers to plan for effective instruction each day. In order to support this expectation, planning time shall be designated and agreed on by the Professional Learning Community (PLC) in each building. Planning time shall be defined as time during which no conflicting, regularly scheduled responsibilities may be assigned.
2. An average of 200 minutes will be provided per 5-day work week for each full-time teacher.
3. Planning time shall be included within the normal teacher workday. Teachers shall not use planning time for the conduct of personal business or non-instructional activities.
4. If extenuating circumstances occur, the building principal may give consent for a teacher to attend to non-instructional matters during planning time. In the case of emergencies or unusual scheduling conflicts at the school, building principals may require teachers to participate in such responsibilities as deemed necessary during scheduled planning times.
Teacher Planning Time. 12.4.1 A classroom teacher shall receive planning time as follows:
12.4.1.1 Secondary teachers shall have at least one (1) individual duty-free planning period per day to be equivalent to a regular class period. Middle School teachers will have team planning whenever feasible.
12.4.1.2 Elementary teachers shall have three hundred (300) planning minutes per week in increments that are at least thirty (30) minutes during student contact hours. If problems arise where plan time cannot occur during student contact hours, it will be brought to the Labor Management Committee to help to problem-solve the building schedule before the building initiating the schedule.
12.4.1.3 Planning time is teacher directed to prepare for their classroom and the teacher may use this time for planning content and differentiation, collaboration with specialists, collaboration with grade-level teammates, putting together supplies/materials, setting up spaces for learning, reviewing/analyzing data, completing work for school-level committees/initiatives.
12.4.1.4 It is understood that teachers are professionals and put in extra time outside of the contract day and therefore teachers may occasionally use reasonable amounts of their plan time to attend to their personal needs with prior approval from the principal. If the time used is attached to annual leave, annual leave time must be used for any plan time missed.
12.4.1.5 Elementary students will start school one (1) day later than secondary students at the beginning of the school year and after the holiday break with the time being used for elementary plan time.
12.4.1.5.1 Classroom teachers at Dual-Language Elementary Schools will receive an additional 45 minutes of plan time per week. This time is provided to honor the additional co-planning needs with grade-level partners. This will be evaluated annually for feasibility (staffing and budget needs).
12.4.1.6 Special Service Providers shall have a minimum of three hundred (300) planning minutes per week in increments that are at least thirty (30) minutes during student contact hours. Planning time is SSP-directed to prepare for direct services with students, prepare for in-direct services, prepare for SEL lessons, analyze data and complete documentation, or to collaborate with specialists and teachers. When a teacher loses his/her planning time for a qualified reason, the time shall be rescheduled by the principal or paid at the substitution rate. The District administrators shall work in conjunction with the Information Specialists and building principals in an attempt to provide additional planning time for classroom teachers at the primary and intermediate buildings. If additional planning time can be provided, a schedule will be implemented. The Union recognizes that there will be occasions when this additional planning time will be canceled due to conflicts. Furthermore, the Union recognizes if the District implements personnel changes related to financial conditions and the information specialist time is limited, planning time may not be provided.

Trimester/Semester Scheduling: The District will institute trimester scheduling at the high schools starting with the 2009/2010 school year and semester scheduling at the start of the 2018/2019 school year. If it is necessary to have only a 1/2 block scheduled to perform Co-op duties the principal will be responsible for assigning additional duties to fill the other 1/2 of the block. Note 2: If TSD goes to a 7-period day, the schedule will be 5 teach, 1 duty period and 1 planning period.
2. At the high schools, one of the blocks of time will be scheduled for a planning time for the teacher. When a middle school/high school teacher is forced to sub during their planning period, they shall be paid $30.00 for the block of subbing.
3. Should the District develop a seminar period(s) within the block schedule the administration has the right to adjust teaching schedules to accommodate the implementation and supervision of the seminar period.
4. Beginning with the 2004-2005 school year, teachers assigned to teach in the middle school will teach five (5) out of six (6) periods or six (6) out of seven (7) periods with one (1) period of personal planning time.
5. Elementary Music/PE/Art/Foreign Language shall be considered planning time for elementary teachers.
