Professional Conference Leave. A. Faculty members may, with approval of the appropriate Xxxx, be eligible for short-term paid leaves of absence to attend professional conferences directly related to their teaching or other District work assignments.
Professional Conference Leave. 1. A teacher may request up to four (4) work days of leave to attend approved workshops, clinics, conferences or school visitations. Emergency requests that do not meet the time requirements may be approved by the Superintendent. The requests will be considered by the building Principal and/or Superintendent.
2. A teacher will be reimbursed at the current business mileage rate established by the IRS. Registration fees and lodging will be paid by the School if approved and deemed necessary.
Professional Conference Leave. Each teacher may use two (2) professional days in addition to those requested by the administration per year to attend a workshop or professional meeting in the teacher's field. Written request must be given the Superintendent at least five (5) days prior to the scheduled meeting. Additional conference days may be approved at the discretion of the Superintendent. The Board may grant an additional professional day to sponsors of co-curricular activities where the individual's presence is needed for supervision of participants or instructional activities. The District shall reimburse the teacher who drives for his/her mileage to and from the meetings. Annually, on July 1, the mileage rate shall be adjusted to reflect the current IRS rate. Mileage will be calculated from Pontiac to the meeting site or from the teacher's home to the meeting site, whichever mileage total is the shorter distance. In case of more than one teacher attending a workshop, the District shall only be responsible for mileage costs of one automobile. The District shall also reimburse the teacher(s) up to $30.00 for receipted meal expenses daily, the cost of lodging, and registration fees. No more than two (2) teachers may be granted professional leave for the same day unless approved by the Superintendent.
Professional Conference Leave. 1. It is hereby agreed that the Southeast School Support Personnel of the Southeast Local Schools will have the right to request Professional Leave, and it may be granted as specified in the following statements:
a. Must be submitted, in writing, to the Superintendent for approval.
b. Must be submitted at least five (5) days in advance.
2. If a Southeast School Support Personnel requests Professional Leave to attend a Conference or Workshop, and it is approved by the Superintendent, the following procedures will be used:
a. Southeast School Support Personnel will be granted Release Time from responsibilities, with no loss in pay occurring.
b. The actual Conference or Workshop fee will be paid for by the Board.
c. Mileage will be reimbursed at 80% of the current federally approved amount. In situations where multiple employees are attending the workshop or conference, one driver will be reimbursed for every four participants.
d. Meal costs will be reimbursed at an amount not to exceed a per diem amount that is established annually by the Superintendent. Lodging costs may be paid as deemed appropriate by the Superintendent based upon advance approval.
3. If a Southeast School Support Personnel is requested by the Board or the Superintendent to attend a Conference or Workshop, the following procedures will be used:
a. The Southeast School Support Personnel will receive Release Time without loss of pay.
b. The Conference or Workshop fee will be paid for by the Board.
c. Mileage will be reimbursed at the current federally-approved amount. This rate shall apply for any Board-approved mileage.
d. Meal costs will be reimbursed at an amount not to exceed a per diem amount that is established annually by the Superintendent. Lodging costs may be paid as deemed appropriate by the Superintendent based upon advance approval.
4. This leave may be used for the OEA Convention, for Release Time only; and the Board will not be held responsible for meals, lodging, or mileage.
Professional Conference Leave a. Bargaining unit members may, with approval of the college President, be permitted without loss of compensation to attend professional conferences directly related to their teaching or other District work assignments.
b. The length of any such short-term leave shall not exceed the length of the business portion of such conference, plus necessary travel time.
c. No such leave shall be granted unless the unit member has requested and received approval on the appropriate District form.
Professional Conference Leave. Upon the approval of the Building Principal, and the Superintendent or designee, teachers shall be allowed to attend professional conferences. When the employee is notified of an approval, he/she shall also be informed whether any of the expenses for food, lodging and travel will be reimbursed. In the event attendance at a professional conference is approved and then substitutes become unavailable, approval may be withdrawn, provided pre-approved pre-paid expenses of the employee will be reimbursed.
Professional Conference Leave. 19.13.1 A unit member who is an officer of a state, regional or national education organization, which has the improvement of instruction or curriculum as its primary purpose or which is otherwise pertinent to the District's program, may be granted paid leave to attend meetings, conferences or conventions of such organizations with the approval of the Director of Certificated Personnel Services.
19.13.2 A unit member wishing to attend an educational conference may apply for paid leave to their principal, program administrator or appropriate Assistant/Associate Superintendent. Approval is contingent on availability of funds.
19.13.3 A unit member wishing to attend an educational conference may apply for a partial paid leave to their principal, program administrator, or appropriate Assistant Superintendent. If approved, the unit member will receive the difference between their salary and the amount which would have been paid to a substitute at the basic substitute rate. Approval will not be unreasonably withheld.
Professional Conference Leave. A. At the Employer's discretion, Employees may attend training events (conferences, courses, classes, institutes and workshops) that the Employer determines will enhance an Employee's work performance.
B. Employees should make written request to attend a training event in advance.
C. The Employer will pay normal expenses to attend those training events required by the Employer.
D. Expenses include time worked, public transportation costs, and mileage at the current IRS rate, parking costs, toll charges, and tuition. Meal may be included if the event is more than six (6) hours in duration.
E. The Employer and Employee may mutually agree to share the costs of a training not required but agreed to enhance an Employee's work performance.
F. The Employer will advance payment to vendors for all training fees, as long as sufficient notice is provided for the check to be prepared on the regular billing cycle.
G. Employees must provide proof of attendance at training's. If proof cannot be provided, the Employee may be asked to reimburse the Employer for the cost of the training.
H. Employees are entitled to up to 8 hours with pay per year for the purpose of attending a training event.
I. Employer agrees to annually allocate a maximum of $3,500 for continuing education, for full time and part time employees. The fund will be offered on a fiscal year cycle. Funds not used in one year will be rolled over into year the next year. The maximum allocation per employee for each period will be $250. Employer agrees to send notice to all bargaining unit members of the education benefit and the process for applying at the beginning of each fiscal year. This fund is on a first come first serve basis. This fund is in addition to any moneys normally spent on trainings and education.
Professional Conference Leave. Leave for attendance at professional meetings or conferences may be granted to unit members under the following conditions:
